Hello.... i had issues with the replacement cartridges... which where HP.. because of the update as of April 2019 the printer would not recognize the new ink cartridge and HP says they cant remove the update... so i implemented your funny fix/technique this guy stumbled upon and started by popping the black ink cartridge in and out with the tab pressed on the cartridge many times in a row. i then closed the lid and the printer went into maintenance mode which took a minute or two and then the printer recognized all the cartridges as OEM. then i answered yes and it asked another question and i answered yes. it then begin to work. then i realized i had put the old Black empty cartridge in instead of the new one and it goofed up again. so i repeated the technique described by this genius and it worked again... asking me the same questions about being genuine cartridges and of course i answered yes and it seems to be working like it should. so THANKS TO THIS GUY!!!! and HP i believe its time to fix the problem... or refund....!!
Mark McGrath's comment WORKS! BUT: the back arrow (in the lower left) turns INVISIBLE but is still working. So, even though the back button is not showing just keep pushing. Also, once I disabled Trade, my printer would not turn off using the power button. I had to unplug it and then replug. Thank you, Mark McGrath for this great information. I have been searching for an answer to this problem for five months. And thank you FactoryShowtime38 for getting pissed at HP and making this video; I hope Mark's great reply makes your life a lot easier!
Omg! Thank u! I had put in new cartridges and it still wasn't printing. Did this and it's fine.... I'm sure the old cartridges have ink! I hate this printer!
Not buying another stupid HP printer. But I'm using my printer til I dies without using hp cartridges. They can go to hell. They are thieves. Anyway, thanks for sharing!
I run a little business and after refilling the same hp cartridge for a year i had to go get a new one, just discovered new one will not print after ink runs out. Must of been an update. I go through heaps ink and cant afford a cartridge every week.
This turned out to be a great fix but BOY does this guy waffle! I found myself shouting to him through my computer! I stopped buying HP years ago as they are thieves but most of the other printer companies are getting just as bad.
I had an desk jet 660, when I refilled the cartridges it never printed again. This may sound like a joke but the cartridge cleaning mechanism utilized some sort of plastic arm with a very sharp chisel like blade then sheared the printer head off the cartridge and cut into the cartridge ribbon cable. Sounds strange but it happened again even to the new set of cartridges I purchased the next day. Throwing $$$ in the trash.
Hey click the back arrow 4 times slowly until you get a support menu. then go down to system configuration menu then Trade OOBE click OK. Turn Printer off then back on
Mark - How do you get to the system configuration menu? Can you post a video or provide more detailed instructions? I am having the same problem as FactoryShowtime38 except it is my color cartridges that won't print. Thanks to you both for help with problem. (And wondering if HP wants another lawsuit? They were fined millions for doing this (preventing use of refilled or generic cartridges) a few years ago, and ordered that they could not do it again.
I have a hp envy 7640 and I brough it with me to Dominican Republic, now it saids. cannot print, visit instantink.com I had that in USA but here it doesnn't work . Is therel a solution to the problem.
printer doesn't know how much ink in the cartridge, it stores the chip id number and counts. best way to do this reset the memory by opening the printer and removing cmos battery and discharge the printer internally.
on my old hp printer i had two sets of oem ink. once i get "low ink" i'd swap it with one re-filled by costco. it worked for about 5 years until printhead error happened.
That's why I have an older HP photo inkjet printer that we still keep that the wireless crapped out because I can put aftermarket refillable cartridges in it and so much cheaper to print and still works hooked up with cable to our network. This one my husband wanted to be able to print from close by and not have to walk to the other end of the house to our old printer that has to be hooked up by cable to work on the network. I hate thee new HP printers and other brands print like trash. HP has us right where they want us to buy their expensive replacement cartridges and this makes me mad with these new printers that you can only use new cartridges with this new chip for the printer to work right. This really burns me and they want you to be part of their refillable ink cartridge program. What a trashy thing to do to their buyers for their printers. I wish there was a another printer brand that can give HP some competition for home Inkjet cartridges. I have tried Cannon, Lexmark so forth printers and I would have nothing but problems with them not printing the right colors. Thanks alot HP for screwing the consumer that don't have money to spend so much for refillable ink cartridges. Thanks so much for this Tip and your video I am going to give this a try!
I noticed newer HP printers fill in black with blue color. So they basically waste ink from all installed cartridges. I also found a easy way to clean a clogged cartridge. Just fill a deep plate or other container with water. Just enough to cover the head. Let it sit for a few hours. Wipe it dry. Use alcohol if you got stains. Mine didn't need alcohol at all to clear the clog.
If you can find a good working 750 AIO with the original Install CD; GET IT! That's the very best printer made for the home user. Mine is over 15 y/o and still using the original bulb and belt. It had excellent color printing and used less ink than any other, but you wouldn't guess it buy the pics.
I don't like the way HP has skimped on the amt of ink/cart and Not allowing user to refill their own carts, especially on the OfficeJet line of printers. I did a head-to-head between this one (OJPro 6968) & my old AIO 750. I got about 35% LESS pages out of the 6968! My 750 still works perfectly except for the scanner. When MicroSUK forced the Win10 OS on me, it LOST the 750 printer info! The OJPro is still the best; at that price point; for the home user but they've become lemmings; following the cheap trend when it comes to customer support and the amt of ink/cart; instead of leading the market like they used to.
All printer companies are a rip off. I think there are couple new Epson printers now where you can refill the tanks with ink to save money but they are programmed to fail in less that a year which means you have to buy another $200 printer and that's how Epson makes its money back.

Julie Na it buisness
Running clean printer head multiple times as this could also be a problem after refilling in some cases.
Not buying another stupid HP printer. But I'm using my printer til I dies without using hp cartridges. They can go to hell. They are thieves.
Anyway, thanks for sharing!
I can't get the compatible inks to work this way it keeps going back tot he cartridge problem page
I run a little business and after refilling the same hp cartridge for a year i had to go get a new one, just discovered new one will not print after ink runs out. Must of been an update. I go through heaps ink and cant afford a cartridge every week.
Tdl Australia you should invest in a Lazer printer
Best "hot fix" I have ever seen! Thanks and congrats! ✌
I had the same problem with my epson printer so after 2 weeks of it not working I skipped it I wish I seen your video first. Good video

30 dislikes from printing companies

What annoys me is you can take the the cartridges out, shake them and you can literally hear ink! (At least with laserjets)

Where can I find this cmos battery in my hp 6960 Printer? and what do you mean by discharge the printer internally?

Hp is a fucked up corp.

my mom used to buy nothing but HP because they were the best but now she buys Canon printers. I always get her old printer if it still works.

Did not work for me. Be aggravating with this printer for over 5 hours.
