This song, along with Teddy Bear, is pure corn. For some reason, I can't help but love it. Thirty years and I'm still a sucker for a sad song. What a bawbag!

My daughter‘s middle name came from this song. ironically, I could’ve lost her at a year and a half. She disappeared one day I ran up to the top of the hill where we live looked down on the highway, and on a blind corner, she was sitting right on the centerline. I did the 50 yard sprint in seconds, but it seemed like eternity.. I sent her this song Today 46 years later, reminding her that she was still my little Rosa..! Still brings tears to my eyes.!! lol..

The reason we listen to these stories is to feel our humanity. If you ignore your own humanity, you are barreling toward your own destruction like a runaway train. Teach yourself to feel and you will learn ropes in life known only to those with empathy.

I was in Navy Boot Camp at Great Lakes in 1957. Didn't know much about country music. During "Service Week" the guys I worked with included a few from the South. One entertained us by repeating this song. It an a few other numbers they introduced me to was my start with a life long love affair with country music. Our country has changed a lot since then and so has the music. Thanks for hanging on to those record from back then.

Me this story/sing this to me every night , she sang/told it with SO much passion and she put herself into it and into the accent , words , song an story 100% , She was the best at telling this story/singing this song, I just wish I had a phone or something to record her with back then so I’d still have it today, but I didn’t so I hope this is one of the memories my mind locks (doesn’t forget)down of my mother when I’m older. This was one of my dad's favourite songs too. He used to come up the street, home from working as a welder at 6 pm and we would run down the street shouting "Daddy, Daddy" just like little Rosa. I remember singing this at a show and tell at school when I was only 8 years old (the teacher looking at me like I was Wednesday Addams because, well, I suppose it was a little morbid...) Still cry every time I hear it. OK, I'm going to bed now because I've had 3 glasses of wine and am getting maudlin. Good ol' Red.
