Lots of them have traditional instruments mixed into the electronic music and the people who made the music even tho are Canadian they are actually Greek and from the music you can hear that Balkan flavor mixed with hard rock and techno of the time ... There were other video game soundtracks who did this but specifically old NFS music stuck in my mind when it comes to this topic. If you people don't know what I am talking about search 90s Need for Speed music playlist or OST and enjoy the flavors of sounds ...
It's so crazy how good some of these old instruments sound and how they've been mostly forgotten. Need to bring a lot of them back into mainstream music.
There is something so beautiful about old instruments making modern music ...the beauty of history and tradition while accepting the future and walking both in harmony. This kind of art is soooo good

You just made my LIFE! I was working a show in 1999! the Director vetoed me using a Lute. I am an old fashion metal guitarist as well. This is Amazing!
I watched this with a friend and we both just fell silent because we were so taken aback. Now I've heard you shred before but this is a WHOLE NEW EXPERIENCE and I would love more of it!
I read some time ago that metal fans and baroque fans tend to have similar personality types. And I've certainly seen quite a lot of comments from people who identify chiefly as metal fans saying that they enjoy some baroque videos on UA-cam, particularly Vivaldi's music.
Another metalhead who loves Vivaldi. Forgotten for centuries, that man wrote some of the baddest stuff ever. But let us also not forget Monteverdi and Handel. (forgot about Bach, sorry).
I'm pretty sure most metal musicians can play other genres quite well too, e.g. they can do great ballads if they want to. And a classical music education helps with all music.
@@elhoward7440 Quite so! I was classically trained on the cello, then had to teach myself the bass for a piece we were doing and from there, I decided to teach myself everything else. I went from playing classical to jazz, bluegrass to rock, alt and metal, you name it. Right now I'm in a dream pop and syntheticwave phase, but I still stay up on alt and classical, which are my go tos, and peek in on the metal scene from time to time, for new, unexpected talent.
The lute is often a very pattern based instrument. Guitar is too. Shredding is just the process of playing pattern based licks really fast. So, of course one can shred on the lute!

But he put himself beside Charles Berthoud and other major talents, and I'm sorry but he's not competing. If he's going to put himself on par with such great musicians, he needs to bring more to the table than that. His finger picking is solid, but nothing there was shred-level. JMHP. Edit: Based on his other videos on guitar I would have expected much more. He has the shred in him for sure. Just needs to really bring it down on the lute.

I need more of this. The closest I've seen thus far was In Extremo and Wagakki. Both use traditional, if not outdated instruments to play modern style music, which gives it a really special vibe...

Looks to me like it's a lot harder to do it on a lute, but as long as you're sticking to the high strings, it's basically the same.
