      Hi! Sorry for the very late reply. There is only one xv century lute source being the wolfenbuttel fragment that is as the name suggests pretty fragmentary but very helpful to get some insights on the general anesthics of early intabulations, the rest of repertoire is mostly reconstructed from either keyboard or vocal sources of the time.

    Is there source evidence to confirm that this interesting plectrum-finger technique was used during the 15th C perhaps as a transition between plectrum style and 16th C lute finger style? Or is this a traditional technique still practiced by players of the oud or other related instruments played with a plectrum?

    • @PeppeFrana
      @PeppeFrana  3 роки тому +2

      Hi! This is not a traditional technique if we don't count in bluegrass guitar. It's a playing style inaugurated by Crawford Young whom i've studied with which is basically born from speculating on what a lute player would do to play counterpoint in the XV century. I am not aware of any piece of hard historical evidence that would corroborate it though. Anyway it's fun to do and it sounds cool!
