If your T4 is high, do you need more or less Iodine?
Same for TSH, if your TSH is high, do you need more or less Iodine?
Because I am curious if this is also the case for Grave and hyperthyroid. Thank you

    • @TheTypeWriters-kq4pb

Interesting question. Some people say to restrict iodine in hyperthyroidism because it's a potential substrate for new thyroid hormone production. By contrast, some thyroidologists in Japan have used iodine to treat mild hyperthyroid conditions (It can potentially lower the production and secretion of thyroid hormone through the Wolff-Chaikoff effect, and they can combine it with an antithyroid drug). This idea most likely requires further study. Instead, it's probably best to get an adequate and balanced iodine intake (150 mcg/d) from seafood, dairy, eggs, cranberries, and other iodine-rich foods to prevent goiter and promote good thyroid health.

150 micrograms/day?? Are you kidding? It's fine that the thyroid somehow works with that much iodine supplementation, but what about the other iodine-demanding organs? I myself have been taking 40-50 milligrams per day for years. Because I need iodine for my other iodine-demanding organs. Prostate, skin, etc. I piss out the excess, if after about two years of iodine supplementation with miligrams, I have an excess of iodine. Otherwise I take iodine in the form of Lugol's solution.
