It's not just the BBC. It's Hollywood. Disney especially. The amount of film franchises that have been wrecked due to identity politics Is unreal. And when each one bombs the fans get the blame. It's a form of self harm. It's insanity.

And yet, Blackadder was one of our best ever comedy programmes, I believe. Back then, I wasn't opposed to the anti-Thatcher movement (my family were all coal miners) but even so, I couldn't support the idiot Scargill. Tough times for the mining 'communities' who have never really recovered and, as with the EU referendum (and even more so the Indy Ref in Scotland), friends and families were ripped apart by politics. Strange that my father was a massive labour supporter who manned the picket lines and his brother, my lovely Uncle, was a 'scab'. They never recovered from that and both died as 'adverseries'. How sad.

And to a large degree this seems to be correct. Perhaps 8-10 years ago I was becoming more aware of Marine Le Pen and wanted to find out what she was really like. I came upon a BBC interview with her. After several minutes my impression was this is not an interview, it's an inquisition. @@edwardmcmanus You've got it backwards . It was a repeat of the 2016 election . Trump rallies attended by thousands - Clinton/Biden - not even hundreds . Clinton didn't, or couldn't, try to cheat by enough . She paid $billions for fake votes , and still lost . This time they used the Dominium machines to take up the slack , as witnessed by the famous 'Leap into the lead ' AFTER THE VOTING HAD FINISHED !!! At this point , the longer the Biden chaos lasts , the better it is for Trump . They have identified 74,000 fake Biden votes in Maricopa so far and haven't made a move , why ? Because there's 10 times more to come .

Should the BBC be overhauled or scrapped? In my view it should be SCRAPPED!!! dismantled and it's parts sold to the highest bidder. And also, the BRAND NAME """"BBC"""" should be illegal so as to stop anyone capitalizing on that brand name. It must be stamped out completely in it's entirety world service and all.

That used to be regarded as a universal truth, but since the sixties it has ceased to apply. It follows a broader cultural pattern. People who were rock fans or pop music fans in their teens are still fans of the same stuff in their seventies. The rock bands themselves keep performing the same sort of music with the same sort of "aimed at young people" lyrics decade after decade. Supposedly adult people (especially men) are still watching films for children (Batman, Star Wars) no matter how old they get. With a few exceptions -- mainly grumpy old men such as myself -- everyone's tastes have been infantilised. And political opinions or stances have been following the same pattern. It used to be that people were revolutionaries with Che Guevara posters on the wall when they were in their teens or twenties, and by the time they reached forty-five they had become conservatives. Not any more.

These guys are news/current affairs, so that’s where they are coming from. But if you are in television distribution, you can see the BBC is in catastrophic relative decline against global rivals and can’t survive on the UK-only licence fee. The national licence fee doesn’t generate enough revenue to buy the rights to the Olympics. Discovery bought the European rights and then sold a package limited to a max of two simultaneous live transmissions to the BBC, U.K. only. Attenborough made his last series for Netflix and the BBC bought just a U.K. rights licence, time limited, in a deal brokered by an Australian distributor. It can’t fund a drama series with the global reach, star casting and production values of The Crown or Game of Thrones. The BBC barely makes any self funded drama. Look at the end credits and you’ll see it’s a Amazon, Netflix or PBS co-production, the other party taking the worldwide distribution rights. The iPlayer was an open goal to switch to global subscription and become the world’s broadcaster. But the ridiculous obsession with the licence fee, a 100 year old funding model for radio, has prevented the BBC from being as big as Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Disney etc. in television. The result is it’s been left far behind and increasingly we won’t be watching it whatever its politics, bias or agenda is or isn’t.

It is relentless.. the only comical strand, is the BBC's inability to make a telephone connection while live on air. I am a 66 yoa engineer, who still goes to work every day with a box of spanners, I feel I'm one of the last, at the end of the lord mayor's parade. I still shout at the radio, in my van, regularly insenced at the BBC transmitting from some alien universe! The BBC is its own enemy, by refusing reform. We need the BBC as a tool so save our British culture, our country, our history, but it has become our enemy.

They don't think you're mad, Rod: they think you're evil. Up until a few years ago, only true religious believers still used the word "evil." Even now, they would deny that they think that way, but the denials are wearing thin. It's a religion, and people who oppose the true faith can only be "evil."
