A truly great voyage dad. Very impressive! Although I’m not sure how many people would consider a grapefruit to be a treat haha.
Overcoming the challenges you’ve faced on this trip is somewhat symbolic of the cause you’re sailing for - nicely done!

Thanks son , it’s been some adventure “ the only thing that works on an old boat is the skipper” 😅😅

You are following a route me and my husband intend to take. But your reason is much more noble. Your doing an amazing job for a cause that desperately needs the attention your are bringing too it. Keep up the fine work.

Enjoying your channel 👍. I was in A Coruna earlier this year and what really surprised me was just how ‘alive’ the town was with ordinary people eating, drinking and enjoying life in the countless cafe’s and bars. A far cry from the U.K. where towns and villages are literally dying as people buy their stuff on line and can’t afford to go out to eat and drink.

@@tonyhalsall3170 you are 100% correct Tony I really enjoyed A Coruna also , I accidentally dropped my wallet at an outside bar and a young Spanish guy picked it up and handed it back to me complete with the €200 euro inside, great place and great people, I think you’d also like Baiona

I've been on the hard in Astoria Oregon for a month, I have a 1981 40ft Mariner sailboat, motor is out , prop and shaft in the shop, 3900 in motor parts, way more to go, so watching other boats getting out is inspiring, thanks, it's so depressing to be on the hard.

“ the only thing that works on an old boat is the Skipper “ I hope you get back in the water soon

Hiya... It's so nice to stumble across a youtuber with only 20 subs who puts out videos I like to watch. Only watched part 3 so far, but will go back and watch the other 2. Hope you keep it all true and honest and don't give in to commercialism. Here's to hoping you put out many more videos like these. See ya.

Well done Steven, happily supporting your noble cause by watching and enjoying the video made by an autentique sailor. Keep going like that even with the usual technical issues of sailboats. By the way good choice on the weather window for the Biscay passage and nice bath in the deep blue! I wish you fair wind and I'm looking forwards for the next trip.

Thanks and yes I got lucky with the weather not sure if I would have gone over the side in rough seas

Nice one Steven, thanks for taking the time to film your journey. I have just come back from Lagos and going back later in the year to take my first sailing lessons. Your film has been inspiring. You have had your fair share of problems so let's hope they "feck" off and you have trouble free sailing for the rest of your trip. Looking forward to the next one - cheers.

Fair play, Steven. Great cause. I'm hoping to get my first experience of solo sailing to the Scillies in September. There are always jobs on boats and stuff going wrong, but keeping calm and coming up with solutions in whatever capacity one has is the key. Fair Winds.

An old trick with rope around the prop is to keep pressure on the line & tap the reverse very quick & 7 out of 10 itll unwind .

First thing to do is change fuel filter and be sure you can clear any fuel line blockages , make sure you have a bilge water alarm . Then you've no worries, good videos.

    • @TheHappySailor-xg4pu

Thanks John, the fuel shutoff valve was blocked apparently a common problem on Bavaria’s and yes a bilge alarm is something I will install and maybe an exhaust temperature sensor, do you sail a Bavaria ?

A flat bottomed boat with a dagger board keel ready to snap off.
A crap boat designed as a floating hotel not designed as a good sea boat.
Need a full keel. Take a look at Island Packets or Fishers.

Very interesting comment however you are describing 95% of the boats being built today, including hallberg rassys , what boat do you sail ?
      I’d love an island packet

Haven't the customs/immigration people bothered you? After all, you are sailing a UK resisted vessel which, since Brexit, is eventually liable for VAT.

    • @TheHappySailor-xg4pu
      @TheHappySailor-xg4pu  4 місяці тому

yes I was pulled over in Ireland late last year by customs but I had all my paperwork on board to prove the boat was bought in the UK in 2018 , they told me all was good and I was now up on the system and would never be bothered again
