Thank you for such a thorough review! They went over this with me when they delivered my tractor, but it was a lot to remember in a short amount of time. It was SO HELPFUL to find your video. Other videos I saw weren’t as helpful as yours. This was just the right pace and information for a new tractor owner. I feel much more confident for my first mow today!
Useful man ! just got this mower and figured id check out some vids and this one was straight forward and easy to understand with out having long drawn out explanations
Thank you for this video!! We have a D120 but it’s basically the same as the one you have here in the video. Hubby has been on overtime for weeks and the lawn needed mowing! Got it going and mowed all on my own thanks to your video!
I'm glad it was helpful and you were able to get the grass cut!! Thank you for watching the kind comment. Please give this video a like and tell your friends about my channel to help it grow! It would be greatly appreciated.
I’m brand new to this lawn mower. I grew up using push mowers. I’ve been killing this poor John Deere since I bought it. I’ve been dropping and lifting the blade just to put it in reverse to even out my lawn lines. Unfortunately when they delivered it they dropped it off and didn’t explain any of this to me. I’m so glad I saw this video. I had no idea the button on side will slow you to use the blade in reverse. Now unfortunately my screen at the top is blinking “sync” at me and I feel it’s from the mistakes I’ve been making by dropping and picking up the blade and stalling the lawn mower out. Thank you for this video!
Finally some showed how to engage the auto speed control . I was bothered by the foot pedal for travel and glad to see it had a auto travel . We are buying the E120 also however Iam going to try to buy it direct from our J D dealer instead of having home depot be the middle man Thank you for a great review !
So de we always push up til the blue at every start or only on the first start of the day? Also, should the deck be on the ground while the tractor is in storage? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

Thank you, very complete video. I just got an E130 and your video showed me a lot, especially whether or not that backup button had to be held down all the time I'm cutting in reverse. It seemed kind of stupid that I'd have to keep pressing the button while backing up and now I know I don't have to.

Love my mower .. 86 hrs .. easy to change all filters myself !! But, my mower is “choking down” after it has run for about 15 min .. the service guy asked me it I had the choke on.. I’m thinking the cold start is the choke .. so the choke isn’t on
Thanks for the info, one question, I'm waiting for my first John Deere lawn tractor to arrive any day. Should I mow it with it set at full throttle, and should that be adjusted at all while mowing?
Yes, run the throttle at full speed after the warm up when cutting grass. No need to regulate the throttle at all when cutting grass just leave it at full throttle. Then engine is air cooled and will run and cool properly at full throttle. The transmission also will work and perform the best at full throttle.
I agree. I never engage or disengage the deck at full throttle. I always throttle down first. If I just engaged the deck, I then throttle back up to mow.
Are you sitting on it when you release the brake? If no one is sitting on it, the engine will not run (or start) unless the brake is locked on or held down. Even if the brake is on, the engine will not run if the mower deck is engaged if no one is sitting on it, and it will not start at all until the deck is disengaged. The engine will still start and run if the "free-wheel" pin in the rear is pulled out, but it will not drive. Running the engine with that pin out can damage the transmission.
Yes there is a choke, some are different, the way they are set up depending on the engine model .This video may help. It is not a Briggs and Stratton but they use the same set up for the choke.ua-cam.com/video/HxCTPQsmqbk/v-deo.html
I am having a hard time to remember to push the reverse button and the mower cuts totally off on me. This is my new mower. But when that happends I also have an even harder time to get it to recrank after it cut off on me when I didn't push the reverse button. Can anyone help me?
Thanks for taking the time to record this it's greatly appreciated

A good note to use is to idle down before you disengage your blades to not wear out your blade brakes.
I agree. I never engage or disengage the deck at full throttle. I always throttle down first. If I just engaged the deck, I then throttle back up to mow.
Is there a way the engine can stay running if i get off the tractor? I know it has a seat kill switch.
Yes, lock the brake on. Just make sure the blades are disengaged. You should then be able to get off the tractor with the engine still running.
@@JohnsonsSmallEngines awesome thank you!
Nice video man. One question, how do you change the speed the tractor runs?
If it is engine speed? use throttle lever and if it is ground speed? use foot pedal.
I added a 4" extension onto the trailer hitch. My trailer tongue no longer hits the tires when turning sharp.
How often should oil and filter be changed
It depends on use but normally between 30 and 50 hrs.
yes you did thank you
I’m glad it was helpful:) Thank you for watching!
Thank you, good video been looking for this. I just bought one E120. I start it, ok . But when I release the clutch brake it dies. why?
@Dennis Ditsworth Is the pin in the back pulled out?
Are you sitting on it when you release the brake? If no one is sitting on it, the engine will not run (or start) unless the brake is locked on or held down.
Even if the brake is on, the engine will not run if the mower deck is engaged if no one is sitting on it, and it will not start at all until the deck is disengaged.
The engine will still start and run if the "free-wheel" pin in the rear is pulled out, but it will not drive. Running the engine with that pin out can damage the transmission.
Check to make sure your seat switch hasn’t become disconnected. It is a safety switch issue.
Is there a choke

I'm looking to buy one of these tractors but can anyone tell me what's the difference between a E100 and the E120
Check out John Deere.com to compare

Not sure what you mean by "recrank"? Does the engine spin but doesn't start? or does the engine not spin?
the reverse feature is the dumbest function ever, i hate it.
The easy oil change makes it a bag of shit.
