Putting in our 2nd. First put the MD Silent Master in 2001...So we''re putting in a new one instead of replacing motors. LOVE the Silent Master. Got it to get Bernese Mountain Dog hair up...a lot of it. And it has worked like a gem for all these years.

The best central vacuum out there! I have the 120V 15A version.

This is an awesome unit. I have one sitting in my dining room along with my 4 other 240 volt beasts. Was this installed in your house? If so, what are you going to do with the other unit you had? Just for fun, plug that in to the transformer that you have and see how it works. This unit has the two motors in parallel so the CFM is doubled. You can definitely tell a difference in air pressure, since the air is thinner where you are, the motors spin a little faster than they do here. I'm sure you will love that unit. I use all of my central vacuum units without pipes, plug a hose right in to the utility valve and you have a super duper cleaner.

We had a 1970’s Nutone central vac that lasted about 35 years. Because of that longevity, we decided to replace it with another Nutone when the original died. The motor in the new one went out 4 years and 2 weeks AFTER the warranty. Luckily Nutone did provide us with a free replacement motor. That replacement motor only lasted a few months. We took the whole unit to our local vac guy who basically said the new motors are all junk. SO, from your perspective, almost ALL central vac units use the same Amtek/Lamb motors with a few exceptions. If the MD uses Amtek/Lamb and a cheaper (less cost) Beam or Nutone uses the Amtek/Lamb motors, what would be the difference for the upgrade to MD? I’m curious only because we LOVE our central vac system and want it to be functional but have been hesitant to find a new replacement unit for fear of getting another lemom like the last Nutone. For now, I resorted to an antique avocado green VacuMaid from the late 60s I found on marketplace for $50 to get us by, but it’s not ideal. Thanks for any tips or advice!

NuTone has not used Ametek motors for almost 20 years...and there are many different motor models that provide different performance, lifespan, and noise levels, all depending on what the OEM wants to spec for their product. Plus, the power unit design can play a big part in motor performance and life due to filtration, cooling, etc. As the owner and frequent user of a 1980s MD system, I heartily endorse their products, and the S900R or M715H would be my choice for a new replacement unit in my home.

Can I replace a current Beam 2775 (120v I believe) with this unit without issues ? Any benefit of S900r vs S900r2 ?

Call you're Local installer. The units are sized to your house and electricity running to the circuit.

Is that a regular small 3 plugger? Or does it require a special 20 amp huge 3 plugger, like a washing machine plugger? As a matter of fact, how does it work? I don't know whats with the small plugin you did with the wires, how does this all work? I'm looking to buy one but I don't know how I would go about plugging it and using it when I get it. So I need help understanding, thank you.

This needs to be installed by a professional. Call your local professional MD has a great list on their website. The plug is a smaller 220 plug different from your typical household outlet.

OK but can you recommend another good quality central vac that can be plugged into typical household outlet? Or does MD Central have one that can be plugged into a regular household outlet? Thanks!@@PerformanceReviews

Any Central Vacuum must be plugged into a dedicated circuit.
