  • This is the third install example we've done now on the upcoming OG Vacuum solution. This is my personal favorite way to install as it looks super custom and when possible, I think this is the cleanest and quietest setup for the Vacuum. The goal here is to show you how versatile this vacuum can be. These will be available on the OG Store soon!

    I always enjoy episodes where Mike installs stuff. Inspiring! Mike should start his own channel and show people what he does at his own house.

    As an experienced central vac installer you want to put that stop about 5ft after where the hose sits and the reason is that hose can expand over time as it gets used so now down the road you risk that hose not being able to retract all the way and you'd have to put in a 40ft hose instead of 50. Also for the unit I personally would have run a separator before the unit on ground level that way you don't have to go up to the attic to change the bag.

    Hey Mike, Nice work as always I think the hide a hose is definitely the way to go provided you have Space to install it. I won’t comment on the screens I’ll just pretend I didn’t see it.

    I actually have this hide a hose system on the inside of my house. It's SO nice to not have to drag the hose around the house and wrap it up when you're done. We clean more often because it's so easy to pull out the length of hose you need, vacuum, and then suck it all back into the wall. Much better than the system I grew up using. I didn't think to put it in the garage so we use a normal long hose out there.

    You guys should look into some form of seperator for this type of install. An example is the "dust deputy bagger". would keep the canister clean, give more volume, and allow for easy removal of everything you have vaccumed up. Love the vids as always! I can't wait to install this into my garage!

    Any issues with running the vacuum in the attic during hot summer months when it’s 2.5 million degrees in the attic?

    This is pretty cool. I like how someone mentioned a separator. I guess the hidden part outweighs the inconvenience of emptying the canister or is at least a tradeoff.

    When the hose is pulled all the way out, is the vac sucking through 100ft of pipe/hose? Not sure if I’m getting it 💯. If it is how much suction loss is there vs just sucking 50ft max? Thanks. Looks awesome

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  Рік тому

      I don't think there is much loss in doing so. Central vacs are designed to pressurize the distance.

  • @SmartEnthusiast

    Is this normal PVC piping or do you recommend one of these gel coated interior ones?

    • @ObsessedGarage

      This is specific PVC made for central vac systems.

    I've heard the big problem with these Hide-A-Hose is that the hose stores inside the dirty vacuum pipe and gets the jacket of the hose dirty. Has anything been done to address that?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  Рік тому

      Hmmm... Not sure. I think it could easier be wiped down periodically.

  • @adityabahel2979
    @adityabahel2979 27 днів тому

    I just ordered one of these. Nice setup. Is there a maximum or minimum distance you all recommend between the stop and the vacuum itself? Meaning how much PVC would you put between stop and vacuum? Certain amount too much?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  27 днів тому

      You need a minimum of 50' of pipe to house the house. I think we are good up to 200'.

    • @adityabahel2979
      @adityabahel2979 27 днів тому

      Understood. But I’m asking about the distance between the stop point and vacuum itself. Does that matter ?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  23 дні тому

      The hose does stretch a bit under suction. I would do a minimum of 3' between end of the hose and the stop collar.

  • @kyleucf
    @kyleucf Рік тому

    Says in store soon. What actual parts are in the kit? Is it just that small piece that goes into the wall? Then you get PVC and hook it all up to your vac? Or does it also come with special PVC?

    • @ObsessedGarage
      @ObsessedGarage  Рік тому

      Hide-a-Hose is the manufacturer. They make the in wall cover piece and the hose. The PVC is a thinwalled version made specifically for central vac.

    • @kyleucf
      @kyleucf Рік тому

      @@ObsessedGarage great thanks. Did some DD and I really wish you could install it such that the hose is accessible both sides of the wall. So I could use it living room or garage. Maybe the OG spec version can have a custom face plate for that.

    Is there some sort of a seal on the end of the hose?

    • @ObsessedGarage

      There is. It is a rounding plastic ring that seals the hose in the pipe.
