    Beautiful, always like Levi's...1975 I got jacket 70 500 model III and I immediate fall in love. But like to share something that I cannot see often. My jacket got thicker denim, very unusual blue color and red tab was for one third smaller then others. It was bought in San Francisco. Once i saw in the auction on e bay and price was over thousand of dollars. It easy for you who live in USA..(I am from Bosnia).I always struggle to buy that beauty. Thanks Derek for video it is nice to know there is are people who enjoy good design.

      @@derekdoeschannel The type 3 styles you show. I have a real nice sherpa lined one as well. It was on the sale rack at Macys for only $30, lucked out on that one. Love wearing these levis jackets

    Your second jacket has a care tag which was made mandatory (feds) 1971. Big E ended right at 71" however.

      Thanks. Probably one of the last Big E's made then.

    There's no inside pockets in this vintage Levis type III jacket. I do own a modern Levis III Jacket in Dark Wash color and I bought a Sean John Knock off type III jacket $20 recently as well

    Hey Derek, how do you wash your vintage denim jacket? Say you just found and bought a vintage denim jacket that has a smell, how do you go by washing it?

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  10 місяців тому

      You can machine or hand wash it, just don’t dry it. Air dry it. It should take care of the issues.

      I'll oxy clean levis in a bucket of hot water and rinse with cold, multiple times if there's stubborn spots. Sorry to the hardcore collectors that are cringing at the thought all the blank patches in my collection of shrunken jeans! Sometimes, I'll go the laundry mat and wash the jeans with a load of towels in a large frontloader after a good soaking.

    Recently found a type 3, the back of the buttons only have 2 numbers which are 52 and the red tab has been cut off, there are also no hand pockets and no inside tags, any help?

      Hi, It hard to tell if it's a big E or little e. It's not a modern jacket if that's what you're asking. Is the inside tag also missing?

      @@derekdoeschannel yes the inside tag is also missing, probably just wore off from wash and wear, I was only able to tell it was Levi’s because of the buttons. I got this jacket for $25 at a flea market, good find?

    Were your jackets selvedge? Usually on the inner lining there's a redline but I'm not sure if they all were in the 60s!

    • @derekdoeschannel
      @derekdoeschannel  5 місяців тому

      No, not that I've ever seen on a type 3. Not to say selvedge wasn't used to make them, but no visible redlines are shown.

    an 80's jacket is still a vintage jacket. I would never pass up a 1980's Type III in my size if I saw one in a thrift shop.

    care tags came at around the same time they went from the big E to the small e , so its definetly not from the early sixties . the darker one is older .

    521 = USA. 347 = unknown. Care tag labels was introduced post 1971 and that was the same time the intro of small e. Yours could be between era when Levi’s was just using up the leftovers.

      As it turns out-or up-the popped collar has a long legacy, dating back to the birth of casual fashion extending to the modern age, where it has become a symbol of hip-hop empowerment and pretentious bro entitlement.Feb 5, 2561 BE
