Type 2 507 1966 version with button O was produced in the USA Oberman factory, not in the EU. At the same time, 557xx was produced in the same factory with stamp O and Dension factory with button 17 or D. These two factories produced jackets in different styles. For example, the back side of the chest pockets of 557xx from the D factory used light oz denim compared to those from the O factory. Later, some 71205 big E was also produced in the Oberman factory. I think this Oberman factory was aimed to produce for the EU market.

Type 2 would be my favorite if the chest pockets were up higher. I think it's Indigofera that makes a Type 2 style jacket with higher chest pockets.

ive just bought a LVC type 2 jacket , and the biggest advantage of the type 2 over the type 3 is the bigger pockets . they can carry a packet of cigarettes in one side , and a mobile phone easily in the other side .

To be more accurate the word 'blouson' is better than 'blouse'. Also the correct way to refer to the 'buckle back' is cinch belt.

Cool. I've yet to find any of these in the thrifts. But I have purchased a couple of Type 3's off of ebay for under market value. Both blanket lined and dark denim. The 1st is a Big E and is probably a 69-70 model and the 2nd is a small e and probably the 1st or 2nd year of the small e label. Other than the Big E tab, the biggest difference (to me at least) is tactile! The Big E wool blanket lining (majority wool blend if I recall) is super itchy! The polyester lining of the small e jacket is very comfortable to wear and quite warm. That's the one I wear. I'll let the Big E accumulate in value...hopefully!
