- MERU Concerts Live - Kaushiki Chakrabarty's memorable performance with other Maestros of Indian Classical Music at theater Oranjerie on 21 July 2013 at Roermond, The Netherlands. Here Kaushiki is rendering raga Multani in Vilambit Khayal followed by a dhrut composition. She is accompanied by Pandit Vijay Ghate on tabla, Paromita Mukherjee on harmonium and Allarakha Yaminkhan on sarangi.
Millions of years were taken by the universe to come out with such perfection as Kaushiki Chakraborty.Let us bow down .

My goodness. This is beyond belief...Such perfection .. such mastery.. and at such ease in singing.. never witnessed anything this amazing..Ms. Kaushiki is simply unbelievable...Thx a million for uploading and sharing this treasure..
Kaushiki Chakrabarty's visually pleasing and vocally enchanting presentation - Multani ra'ag is rigorous and rewarding.
What appealed to me most is KC's pleasant and smiling interface with her instrumentalists, quite frequently to enliven the summa performance to an incredibly refined level - and senses do get whelmed with the cascading, yet so soft, 'jhankars'.
I listened to her Tanpura play and singing in other clips. KC is a beauty with verve of life and goodness. One could journey with her to cloud 5. if not 9, but then at 36 years, she has many more years of weaving the vocal magic of excellence.
She has most of the time ,the accompaniments at Tabla by this gentle giant with a rush of unruly light brown hair - Vijay Ghate, I believe and the other alpha male with a mop of black hair - is it Soumik Dutta?. With these two KC is vibrant.
Tanpura always brings a depth in the music output, but harmonium I always find somewhat coarse and metallic, does not allow singer's melody/sur /ta'n to ascend. Though the lady was good with the harmonium. I would enjoy more if it is not there. Possibly and I am not a classical music savvy guy, this gives the singer some respite as tunes go on playing. But why not use sarod or violin depending on the ra'agas being presented.
KC's own Tanpura play was so absorbing, she should always wear those heavy par/achal sarees and for ra'aga-based songs could go for refined Mughlai churidar and urni.
I also listened to a part of her Shakswatkar that started with her silvern voice in a bha'jan,----- unadorned , honey-smooth with a purity that puts a halo on KC's head and on her smiles.
We have to say softly '' har ta'an hai deepak, aur awa'az to dekho ! ''.

It sounds so effortless that it seems as though she herself is not singing, but rather God is singing through her. She is letting the Divine Singer sing through her body instrument. Watching her I can see she is totally relaxed and in ecstasy, which is the way to be so that the Divine can use her as a channel. It is absolutely delightful to behold!! God bless Kaushiki Chakrabarty and her fellow musicians. May she continue to sing for many years to come, glorifying the Divine and inspiring us.

Simply simply amazing. Made me cry for the depths of human voice that indian music takes us to. God gave humans voice and sound. We use it so one dimensionally just for language these days that we forget god gave every human their own very musical instrument and you can use your entire body to produce music with that instrument. Only Indian music goes farthest in exploring this. Rest of the animal kingdom sing more than talk and its time we too sing with poetry rather than talk with prose. Awesome again. Thank you.

Amazing ! Brilliant ! I am speechless ! Smt Kaushiki Chakrabarty is an awesome talent - after a very long time I have come across a contemporary exponent of Hindustani Classical with such prowess.
The tabla accompaniment is superb, and so also the others. I am yet to see anyone with such vocal range in recent times! A proper combination of talent, rewaaz and lineage. Truly extraordinary!
+Subhodeep Mukhopadhyay I agree, there are few such talented singers. But many renowned musicians do have a very great vocal range! Check out for Pandit Jasraj, Begum Parveen Sultana, Ashwini Bhide Deshpande and the like for vocal range as well as skill. Also you can see the darbar festival for more such amazing performances of Indian Classical music (both Hindustani and Carnatic). :))

I had very few knowledge in karnatic music. I heard so many praying keerthanas towards moksha, Bhagavathi Darshana and towards liberation. But I can't see this type of wonderful inner cry of the soul in karnatic music tradition except ramadas keerthanas. This raag is so great and send us nearer to the bhagavan.She is Sangeet Saraswathi. Lord Murari may bless her.

I would agree with all but your last sentence. It is ethnocentric claptrap. ALL music can take us this far. Maybe only Indian music takes YOU that far, however lots of music goes this far. Peace.

Here, Kaushiki Chakrabarty expounds to the pinnacle-absolute of the school of Patiala luminaries on earth - imbibed by her father-mentor, Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty in whom is manifest the most versatile-finest tradition of vocal music. In 1987, we had heard this same young lady of six singing (accompanied by Pandit Samar Saha) on stage with so strong a voice - may I vouch - we had never heard before of after. Then her voice matured with the sonority and excellence of her most illustrious mother. Then, we beheld a listener of her music: the great maestro of the immortal music of the films - NAUSHAD ALI - dancing ecstatic heralding the music of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali and Ustad Barkat Ali Khan being more alive in Kaushiki than ever before. Kaushiki also enthralls her audience world wide with the full blown concerts of the finest selections of the Karnataka music that she receives from the greatest: Dr. Bal Murali Krishna. He is Karnadhaara of the unique school: Shruti-Nadan of Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty. Shruti-Nandan - dedicated to the poor, remains the shelter-heaven of twelve hundred musical talents, where Kaushiki coninues to teach.

Not a stretch to say harmonium and voice get equal billing. Shrimathi Kaushiki always gives her fellow artists their due centeredness.
