- I recently found out this former hotel, now a Jewish boys college, received between £200k- £300k in government funding since 2021, so decided to pay a visit to see what the money was spent on. I wasn't disappointed! The amount of security around this place was insane, considering the size. I also didn't realise it was their grand opening! Hope you enjoy!

I really liked the time you took and the shots of the actual building and architecture. Nice slow camera moves as oppose to a lot of auditors who just span the camera across buildings with no real interest in them.
Frim some of the comments, it's a bit of an iconic building with great memories, why wouldn't members of the public/visitors want to film it.
And then the bonus... If i heard that singing and chanting, I'd want to film it too just out of interest.
The posse that came out were very passive aggressive and could /should have been a bit more friendly in sharing what they are about.
Just as police or security say it's unusual for ppl to photograph police stations so want to question you, it's unusual to hear and see a group of men singing / dancing / celebrating in a big building. Who wouldn't be curious?
At least one of the earlier guys explained a bit what was going on, but the ones who came out were very off.
As always, if they didn't want to be on camera or be asked any curiosity questions (which of course they are not obligated to answer, but it's always nice when they do) maybe approaching the camera was not the best idea.

Finally that last officer sounded like Sarah Millican, i was just waiting for her to shout cake into the radio.

As a retired police sergeant I'm familiar with the usual bluffing, lying and bull-sh1tting used to extract your details. I do the odd bit of public photography so when a fresh out of the box constable got up close and personal and asserted that I was causing alarm distress and harrassment I responded as you know public photography is lawful so go and advise the complainant of that, reassure them and then go away and leave me alone. Fortunately he was totally flummoxed and got in his car and went.

I believe they are of the Hassidic sect and consider themselves very devout and spend most of their time in religious studies. In Israel the Hassidic's refuse to do national service or any sort community service as an alternative. The burden of defending the country of course then falls upon the secular Israelis. Most of them don't work (because they are studying) and rely on secular Israelis to financially support them with generous state benefits. They tend to have large families (how do they manage to procreate if they are so busy studying ?). Regarding students, I knew quite a few middle aged African law students that managed to stay/study in the UK for years.
PPL struggle for police to investigate crimes but that area can have 4 police officers in 2 vehicles permanently driving area that particular area checking passers by. I think Leeds could have had some passers by checking within the 24 hour purge.

Great video. That was the old Five Bridges hotel. Mick Jagger stayed there. I used to cycle past it while it was being changed and took a photo as we used to have meals there and I was accosted by a security guard who said can I ask what you're what I was doing. I said he could ask. I'm glad to see the present security guards are better trained.

Technically, you are incorrect about the CAA "owning the airspace", and the Jewish Fella is correct. The CAA control the airspace.
That being said, there is UK caselaw that allows reasonable use of the airspace above private property, hence flying a drone is allowed.
My point is, I'm allowed to fly. And there isn't anything he can do about it. He has permission to use the airspace above his property, but so do I.

We have seen these situations so many times. We know what our photography rights are, and you do us all a great service by exercising those rights. However, under the present circumstances amid security fears, persecution of Jewish people's in this country ? It is understandable that they are nervous when somebody appears outside filming. This could be regarded as a cheap shot at click bait ? Surely it would have been better under these circumstances to have written and politely requested a guided tour ? Whilst I know we don't have to do this normally ? Maybe we have to make exceptions to the rule in order to reassure a vulnerable (at the moment) section of our society. As members of the public, Auditors, photographers, drone flyers, we should always appear respectable and responsible as I'm sure you are.
Possibly, but I think overall, they handled it well, and the neighbourhood watch people were really professional. Although it's a great suggestion about the written request for a tour, I didn't know they were having their grand opening. And, I've kept a good chunk of their celebration in there as a sign of respect. Also, I kept the answers regarding the scrolls AND what I mentioned about 'hate' speech. I've had to remove some comments that overstepped the mark, again, out of respect.
