Around the 50:57 a bit of replacement audio is missing - very sorry, not sure what happened! We used 300 nodes in this episode, so at this rate we'd have 20 episodes left in us. We'll see what happens! I don't think we'll actually have 20 (for CS:2 reasons and my love of using nodes).
Him knowing the words "node limit" is proof that he has seen beyond the veil. No wonder he is having great business success. He has quite literally seen the game.
Sad to see the build is almost done, but also exciting to see everything coming together. RIP waterpipes, no longer underneath the roads, but still in our minds ❤
@@DavidCiani Never understood why so many CS builders adhere so strongly to the water lines under the roads as the game doesn't really take the real world issues of why its done in real life into account. I started off laying pipework under every street but quickly found it got too distracting when adding underground metros later and preferred a minimalist approach anyways. Now I just do long linear stretches spaced just enough for the edge of coverage to either touch or slightly overlap and cross them where there is a major street. It reduces the number of required nodes by lots and it looks a lot cleaner.
In the year 2264, Verde Beach evolved beyond the need for pipes. Instead, water and sewage are transported via wormholes. Truly, technological progress is marvelous to behold!
hitting node limits on this series hurts my heart!! I really hate to know it’s coming to a close but watching this city grow and the love you’ve poured into it has been truly been an incredible journey to be apart of. I binge watched this series during my pregnancy in early 2021 and now it’s coming to a close soon with my son now being well over a year old. so amazing. 💛
Can’t believe Verde Beach is nearing the end, this series got me through all of the lockdowns! Can we get a tropical style build on skylines 2? Really fell in love with this style and setting, inspired me to make my own
Honestly - did the same for me! There is a very high likelihood of the first city being the Verde Beach universe, rather than the Clearwater County one... but let's keep that between you and me 😉
I had my reservations about this neighborhood at first, but this result just blew me away. I agree that moving the countdown sign to the launch area makes a TON of sense, thematically. Very sad to see Verde Beach starting to run headlong into some of those hard limits. It's such a beautiful experience throughout the city. You can really tell you've thrown your whole heart into this build. I hope when you do reach your stopping point, you can have a review of the history of Verde Beach, hitting the high points. I'd love to see you do another city transformation series before CS2 comes out, to bridge the gap. Been with you since the beginning of Bluffside Crossing, it's been a real adventure, and I'm eager to see where we get to go next.
The jumpcut view after you finished landscaping the new district was just stunning. This has to be your masterpiece, very fitting as the series comes to its natural(or unnatural depending on your perspective.) end
NOOOOOOOOO. THIS IS THE MOMENT IVE BEEN DREADING 😟. Verde Beach is, and will be for a long time, my FAVOURITE Vanilla build ever. I just want to say THANK YOU for this build. It has kept me entertained for hours on end for the last 2 years 1/2 and I am Devastated that it is over. But let’s all thank CPP for all of his hard work for this channel. YOU DESERVE IT ❤
I gotta say, the environmental cost of decimating an entire chunk of beach front environment. It aint exactly green, cars or no. Isabella may be a great developer, but she is also cynical and nihilistic.
Really sad to see Verde Beach ending soon. Back then I was living alone during covid quarantine. Verde beach was there for me at every meal. ❤ Thanks Philip for making my life a little better. To many more city builds!
This is my favorite neighborhood in Verde Beach! I'd love live in walkable neighborhood with kind of architecture, landscaping, AND views. 11/10 would move.
Phil, you can always get rid of that hillside development near the dams you built way back in episode 65. Lots of switchbacks = lots of nods! You never liked that neighborhood and now you can "redevelop" it for the greater good ... For the greater good. 😉
34:19 I think that you probably should've zoned the residential in the upper tiers, at least near the main commercial street as high density. It makes perfect sense that you'd want high density next to a commercial area. 45:50 "Pedestrians want shade!!" *adds a bunch of a tree that is notorious for providing little shade* haha
"You have all that lovely beach, why not make something of it?" Unexpectedly the answer was to turn it into foundations! Looks great though. Lovely build.
I’ve been following verde beach since episode one, it’s sad to see it slowly reaching the end of its journey. I’m grateful for always having a comfort video to watch while you meticulously craft this beautiful masterpiece. Hope it lasts until the release of cs2, so it will maybe have a spiritual sucessor on the new game.
Somehow when I saw the title I whas expecting tsunamis and wildfires 😮. Not nearly ending the series😢. I have been watching since ep 20ish and it's making me sad realizing that the end is in sight for this masterpiece of a city. Thanks so much Phil for the countless hours of good Bob Ross kinda vibes. I am gonna miss vb dearly
I was expecting something unexpected, like some unexpected traffic congestion. At some point, I noticed the city had lost thousands of residents, and I thought something might be going on.
Verde Beach is obviously tropical. That being said the sun reflecting off the ocean will make this area noticeably hotter than the inner city. Sandstone’s light color will help avoid burning any puppy paws. Love your content and looking forward to your CS:2 series!!!
You could also add some of those food truck places and ice cream places from the pedestrian DLC if they fit. I think they would add some variety and interesting spots where people can gather up and enjoy the new wonderful place you just created 😊
I like the showcase of addressing game limitation with the use of mods, maybe in a future episode you could add unlimited trees and tree brush to get those horrendous vanilla palms off the edge of town and put in a lush jungle with the forest brush. Just a thought, I really like Verde Beach, the series has been wonderful
I think having the trolleybus on the outside would be a cool thing to do down there all by itself. Just take a trip around the area and see the water on the bus. I do that with the skyliner at Disney World. Between Epcot and Hollywood Studios, we take the skyliner. Takes about 20 minutes and we use it as an extra "ride" at the parks. And if it's on the outside, you would see the water and make the trip that much longer.
This city's story may soon be over, but I know it's not the end of building cities. Looking forward to the amazing new things you'll make when CS2 comes out.
I have to say I find it incredible that you've reached this point in a single city. In the time I've been watching you I've built and abandoned probably half a dozen cities or more. But you really stick to it. I need to learn to pace myself and put the detail work in, instead of blazing for big numbers.
What a beautiful build. It's bittersweet because this felt like the beginning of the end for Verde Beach. But how far it's come!! Nothing even burned down in this episode.
Going on a family vacation in August and god I wish VB was a real place. I’d make it an annual vacation trip. Been watching since ep1. Bittersweet to see this masterpiece come to an end. But so excited to see what you do in CS2. Thank you so much CPP for creating this channel and putting in the hours to make quality content. One of the best things about you and your builds are the educational factors you throw in from your world of city planning. Absolute legend! 🐐
Wow, this episode blew me away. I usually preferred cwc and nicolet bay because your landscaping used to be much more free-flowing with mods than without - in the absense of game limitations and all. But lately, and especially with this episode, you've really demonstrated your improved ability to bend the game to your will and do things that I used to think were impossible in vanilla. Its absolutely phenominal watching you craft these builds, and somehow become even better at the game, when I thought you reached the ceiling of what was possible by game limitations. You've went from Bob Ross level to reality bending cosmic wizard level LOL. Easily my favorite youtube channel of all time - I dont think I've ever consistently followed any media as closely as I do this channel.
Verde Beach was the city that got me into C:S , and i feel like ive been watching it grow for so long that i know the streets almost better than i know my own city! Lol. Thank you Phil for igniting my interest into C:S, and i can’t wait to see your amazing plans come to fruition in C:S2! Love the Beachfront btw! 🏖️☀️
One of my favorite builds in VB, great job! 👌 I think the sandstone ped streets fits the area better tho, but I’ll let that pass because of all the nice landscaping. 😉
Delighted that Verde Beach will continue. I've recently been rewatching the series from the beginning. Best CS series out there. Fingers crossed you can find a fix for the district limit.
I remember finding this city just about when it was started. It was my form of escapism. I left for two years and can't believe how much more has been built in that passage of time. Long gone are the episodes spent fight off the wildfires and rebuilding all the burnt down zoo and park facilities. Definitely one of the most iconic city builds.
I fear this means the imminent end of Verde Beach, that makes me sad, but timing is good for CS2. This is the series that made me fall in love with the channel.
Breathtaking development. I'd live there. I LOVE that you finally picked up on not building a road between the beach/water and the first row of houses. So nice! But you still waste the zoning spaces on the left and right of your new neighborhood.
Really nice video. Love the detailing a lot !!! One realistic point though, getting foundation for that tall buildings right by the sea where the ground shifts a lot is quite unimaginable. I can foresee few 3-4 storey blocks, but these are quite tall.
I was lucky enough to come to the channel before Verde Beach started. I loved the game but was a bit frustrated with it and had hit a plateau, especially since I like open play games, but with potential for narrative. This series brought the game to life for me. I got back into it, learned how to enjoy the game from the very first road all the way through to 'late game' and let me find a balance with advanced play - I like to preserve the gameplay challenges over heavily modding and CPP showed me how to run a QOL mod build. So many memories.
I always love seeing you in the comments, Andy. There are a few folks that I recognize from the beginning and you're one of them! Thanks so much for the support over the years and I'm glad that VB helped you enjoy the game more!
i was once honored to name a tiny district in old verde beach. And now i want to give that back. I would be very happy to allow the district "Coast Quarter" to be cannibalized into a neighbouring district for the city to be continued a little bit longer. Although i would love for the name to continue in some shape of form.
What if you did a post apocalyptic verde beach once the series ends by using disasters and then rebuild some things and restoring some “historical” structures as they were ruined. So the nodes get freed up. OR you could also do something like that in Cities skylines 2 and create verde beach reborn in a post apocalyptic world
I like the idea of Verde Beach ending with a way of transitioning the lore to CS2; i.e. a big disaster / economic issue / etc caused all (some?) of these characters to evacuate / move on to create a new city / etc A way of both ending with a bang or some kind of drama, while also carrying the legacy of the series on to the next game, perhaps?
Well I'm finally caught up, didn't think I'd enjoy the Verde Beach series because of the lack of mods but I really did. After going back to Clearwater County yesterday there was a little part of my brain like "too many mods" lol. Excellent work planner.
Late to this video and late to comment, but as far as Verde Beach goes, this might be my favorite build in the city. Absolutely beautiful neighborhood that I'd love to live in. Verde Beach was my personal favorite of all your cities, partly because of the added vanilla restriction can force you to be extra creative tackling the challenges of base game mechanics. It's going to be sad to see it go, but CS2 opens new doors. Thank you Phil for the series. Edit: Oh yeah. I was so caught up in being sentimental I forgot to ask you to switch out the Organic/Local produce commercial for something else. There's too much EV charging/parking for a non-vehicle neighborhood!
So sorry you had to lose the pipes. We'll just pretend they're still under the roads. I think I prefer the sandstone pathways. I really love the way the landscaping came out. Well Done!
Verde Beach is almost built, but the children are still playing right next to the deep part of the lake, with no fence, in the park you built a while ago :O Please look at it, I hope you're going to fix it every time you do Verde :)
I love that you made the node limit a part of the city story haha 😂 love you and your videos. Sad to see the near end of this city, but I am happy for the new city’s you are building as well.
I'm a tad annoyed about the highrise buildings by the sea. Because if I lived in the lowrise buildings I would be pissed that all the highrise buildings block my sea view. Reversing the order would give all of them seaside view. But then again, I guess this is more realistic too But amazing job. The landscaping is amazing. So beautiful
Beautiful build and congrats VB for your community of 200k people! One criticism though, I think that the city tour is cool with the before and after, but especially in an area like this I think that viewing it from the ground level it'd be really really nice!
Wow! This new area looks fabulous. The landscaping is amazing. (Plus it was interesting to learn more about that whole node limit thing I’ve heard so much about)
Started going through the series about a 2 months ago and finally caught up. Amazing content and insights into the principles of city planning. You had me hooked a while ago, but wanted to get caught up on the series before subscribing. I remember you mentioned starting a series based on Mackinac Island a while ago, which is gonna be the next one I'll be watching. That place has a special place in my heart (3 summers of work&travel spent there, hands down the best experience I've had). If you're still doing city reviews, I'd be interested to hear what your thoughts are on Bucharest, Romania (city center demolished by the communist regime to rebuild based on central planning around the second largest admin building in the world, after the Pentagon), as well as Timisoara, Romania (my home city, reorganized by the austro-hungarian empire a few hundred years ago). Looking forward to more content! Cheers!
This pedestrian area looks SO awesome! You should try another one of these in the future, but on water. Instead of having the retaining walls separating the houses and layers, you could have canals and waterways.
Okay I have to say this and it’s random but the whole city shot at the end with everything lit up at night ... it sorta looks like Elvis with his arms outstretched and a microphone (airport) in one hand. Lol I just saw it couldn’t unsee it, had to share. Love the episode
Am I the only person who feels a little ripped off about not getting to watch CPP painstakingly delete one by one down to the last little pipe his beloved creation the water pipes, from underneath the road right where they belong. With the sound of silence playing in the background while the screen is grayed out and rain hits the screen. One final salute to the glorious water pipe infrastructure you loving built for your city. I mean you could damn near cut that screen out and sell it on DVD it would be so powerful. 🤷🤣
Editor Phil here. Now that we are in the summer months and developing the beach, please remember your hats, and to regularly apply sunscreen on all of your exposed skin; where it belongs.
Phil I've been thinking about your conservation college and the park. I think, maybe in a nodded game, if you're to conservation, and sustainablility make sure you include ecology restoration (falls under sustainability). You could find out what native plants are in the area you're creating and designate land for a greenhouse (seed increase garden) and restoration. I work for EWU Palouse prairie restoration and part of my job is growing rows of native Palouse prairie plants for seed collection, as well as going out to the prairie and planting plugs. It'd be a cool story for your city and it'd look cool too. Take a look at some restoration projects and the native lands they work on so you can see what things should look like and go from there.
Top 3 neighborhoods that Phil has ever created. Definitely the best terraced one, by a LARGE margin. I saw that one of the options for the mod was to use the roads as power lines. Since all the roads have streetlights built in, it never made sense to need both. (Unless the streetlights didn’t work, which they do).
This is by far my favorite build to watch. Sad to see the limitations of the game impacting it. For what it's worth, I approve of the measures you've taken to keep it going. Looking forward to what will happen in cs2 where every city will be vanilla (at the start)!
This video reminded me about when I went with my parents to some vacation spots when I was younger. These were not just clusters of hotels and bars. They were complete towns, with residential areas, city services, grocery stores etc. They still very much gave me the feeling that everything had been built at the same time, by the same contractors/developers. All the buildings had the same general proportions, the same colour schemes, the same style of decorations. I've come to understand that the reason they looked like that is very likely that this is exactly what happened. Somebody invested a lot of money in developing a fully formed tourist town, and building it very quickly. Kind of staggering, when you think about it.
I cant believe all the quay work was achieved in vanilla. Really incredible. And Isabella did really well not only developing it all but also persuading the Verde Beach Water Board to remove the 200 year old pipe network in favour of the modern technology of 23rd century Verde Beach
I've loved this series, sad to see it close to the end, you always do a great job Phil! Should get Biffa to see how bad the traffic gets as part of a send off 😂
I'm not sure, I'm happy with the line of sky scrapers near the shore as this is not downtown. More Wall to wall buildings and marinas ( Monaco style ) would be imho a better fit.
Verde Beach finale is going to be special! Happy that it would coincide with the release of CS:2, though. Can't imagine CS:1 content without any more VB
They should partner with The UPS Foundation to learn about how to make their post systems work more realistically. There may be many other things to learn from them about how city logistics work as well as the fact they they may have networks with connected individuals like governors, mayors, senators, representatives, judges, and other significant characters in the community who may have immeasurably valuable input on how a city building simulator should simulate the city.
It was truly unfortunate that you flashforward the part where the buildings grow as you landscape. I can only speak for myself but that's the whole exciting part for me on these videos. Great build but this would have been a good long episode to watch that unfold. Truly epic build man. Awesome.
No problem! Super important to be able to actually understand the context of the measurements, especially when they guide decisionmaking. And on a side note, I'm really hoping all the conversions will someday make it stick for me, and I'll just learn it. I really, really wish I'd been taught the metric system as a kid.

Hopefully this isn't a problem in CS:2!
I was like, "Hmm... Did he get shocked seeing the limits or something?"
You enabled power transmission without lines but then you left the lines up, those might save some more nodes?
Going Green is just for control, if you didn't know... ( X_x)
Definitely going to have to do something about your districts if you want to keep going, and your path limits are getting close there too
Him knowing the words "node limit" is proof that he has seen beyond the veil. No wonder he is having great business success. He has quite literally seen the game.
Ha like Neo seeing the world around him in code. City Planner Neo.
tune in 5 years from now when phil is telling full blown cosmic horror stories with his city building narratives
This 😅😂
You complete cities skylines when you reach the node limit
After reaching the node limit you can still copy and paste roads, but stability drops significantly...
Sad to see the build is almost done, but also exciting to see everything coming together. RIP waterpipes, no longer underneath the roads, but still in our minds ❤
Working on something to commemorate them! Stay tuned!
Still in our minds... Right where they belong.
IMHO, the more important part is that there aren't water pipes that aren't under roads. Those are the real problem.

Thanks so much for the support over the years and I'm glad that VB helped you enjoy the game more!
quite an honor to have my name suggestion become part of Verde Beach!
i was once honored to name a tiny district in old verde beach. And now i want to give that back. I would be very happy to allow the district "Coast Quarter" to be cannibalized into a neighbouring district for the city to be continued a little bit longer. Although i would love for the name to continue in some shape of form.
Wow
"Sometimes you take on a project and..." you end up with one of the most amazing vanilla builds I have ever seen.
What if you did a post apocalyptic verde beach once the series ends by using disasters and then rebuild some things and restoring some “historical” structures as they were ruined. So the nodes get freed up. OR you could also do something like that in Cities skylines 2 and create verde beach reborn in a post apocalyptic world
I like the idea of Verde Beach ending with a way of transitioning the lore to CS2; i.e. a big disaster / economic issue / etc caused all (some?) of these characters to evacuate / move on to create a new city / etc
A way of both ending with a bang or some kind of drama, while also carrying the legacy of the series on to the next game, perhaps?

I think this almost every episode, but THIS is my new favorite neighborhood. Great concept, planning, and execution.
I think the sandstone pedestrian streets looked a lot better than the bluestone.
While I would never move to a city like this, I do appreciate all the hard work that went into it, it is certainly a unique build. Well done!
I'm a tad annoyed about the highrise buildings by the sea. Because if I lived in the lowrise buildings I would be pissed that all the highrise buildings block my sea view. Reversing the order would give all of them seaside view. But then again, I guess this is more realistic too
But amazing job. The landscaping is amazing. So beautiful
RIP those beautiful, pristine beaches. They got Americanised. No sunbathers there. Also RIP vanilla build
The blue stone offer such a nice contrast to the sand I love it!
That landscaping is a true work of art
Okay I have to say this and it’s random but the whole city shot at the end with everything lit up at night ... it sorta looks like Elvis with his arms outstretched and a microphone (airport) in one hand. Lol I just saw it couldn’t unsee it, had to share. Love the episode
Complete with pompadour and sunglasses! Great spot.
Trolleybuses are my favorite type of transit in Cities: Skylines and I am happy you added some of those.
Take a look at some restoration projects and the native lands they work on so you can see what things should look like and go from there.
i’ve been waiting for this episode to drop, excited to watch it.
By far my favorite build in Verde Beach.
Another great build. Excited to see how you are going to fill in the gaps at Las Verde.
Sandstone to maintain the beach theme. Also the stones were made from all the sand that was lost
I’d love to see sandstone street on a sand beach! It fits much much better on a seaside location, in my opinion
I'm mixed on that one. It *does* blend in - but maybe a little too much?
Top 3 neighborhoods that Phil has ever created. Definitely the best terraced one, by a LARGE margin.
I saw that one of the options for the mod was to use the roads as power lines. Since all the roads have streetlights built in, it never made sense to need both. (Unless the streetlights didn’t work, which they do).
I think to keep names for districts, you can combine two districts like Highlands/Bunker Hill
Seems like the sea view got blocked by the skyscrapers for all those houses up top. Looks beautiful nonetheless
wow, this is easily one of your most outstanding builds i feel
Verde Beach 😭😭😭 I’m not ready for it to finish. It’s been a long time but time passed so fast and I enjoyed every episode.
Nice job!
It reminds me very much of Dubai, been there and the vibe is spot on!
This is by far my favorite build to watch. Sad to see the limitations of the game impacting it. For what it's worth, I approve of the measures you've taken to keep it going.
Looking forward to what will happen in cs2 where every city will be vanilla (at the start)!
Cannot wait for a cities skylines 2 series!!
Sandstone for the sand
This was so awesome. The episodes I enjoy most are the ones where you are really into it, and enjoying yourself. Keep up the great work!
Love the Beachfront build🏖
Love the series! I hope there is a way to increase the node limit or a way to move your save from CS to CS2!
It was truly unfortunate that you flashforward the part where the buildings grow as you landscape. I can only speak for myself but that's the whole exciting part for me on these videos. Great build but this would have been a good long episode to watch that unfold. Truly epic build man. Awesome.
I always appreciate you converting to the metric system for us.
No problem! Super important to be able to actually understand the context of the measurements, especially when they guide decisionmaking. And on a side note, I'm really hoping all the conversions will someday make it stick for me, and I'll just learn it. I really, really wish I'd been taught the metric system as a kid.
To see “The strip” with the water right next to it is a vegas local dream!
The lushness of the San Rivera Area & the Archipelago Island Chain next to it give me Dubai Vibes. 😌
