This is the tightest amp I’ve ever heard
The tone and playing is glorious! 🤘
I had this amp in the early 90's and missed it. I finally got the SNK VH300 (300 watt VH140C clone amp) and it's amazing sounding! It sounds the same as this but way louder and with the added presence and resonance controls it cuts through better. It feels good to finally have the best gain tone ever produced again.

You can always get a clone. There are great pedals that emulate that sound. Guptech VEJ1, SNK VHD, Master Effects Misanthrope, Berserker Dead Ringer, plx-fx Spirytus. These all copy the Ampeg really well
Plus they're all under $200

Sounds killer I had a VH140C combo with Carvin British Series 100s and they sounded brutal. The speakers are kind of like a V30 with smoother mids and more power handling. Recently picked up a Crate VTX350H which uses the clean and lead channel circuits from the VH140/150 but has a 350 watt power section. Absolutely brutal amp!

Just uploaded a quick clip of the VTX350H a few minutes ago. It's a brute for sure and is definitely the VH140/150 circuit.

Man, I wish it existed in VST form. It's a miracle nobody's made a plugin version of it. These amps are nonexistent in Europe.

@@ultimatemetalguitartones Actually it just has Ampeg custom speakers by slm. I've got it working near 100% already. I'm not sure if it's normal but it sounds like the clean tone is bleeding thru the distortion until I set the level to 2 or higher.

Sounds like i wont have problem selling one of these stacks as long as i find a metal guy. I have used the cabinet a lot but never plugged the head in . Your demo was great and that head does produce some wicked sounds i use tube amps and don’t play metal so = never used head ill give it shot now yours sounded scooped perfect metal sound.
Ur head will sell really fast lol

I have the same amp and I'm trying to match with the best cabs and speakers for it. I have two cabs that I'm keeping an eye on. A Carvin Legacy with 4x12 Celestion V30 UK that has only a 16 ohms mono input and a Marshall 1960B from the JCM800 matching cabs with 4X12 G12T-75 ROLA. If I want some tightness and mid-scoop-ish sounding tone, which one do you suggest? My reference is Dying Fetus - Killing On Adrenaline type of tone.

Any idea what pickups were used? It sounds like it could be EMG 81 but I'm guessing the distortion shaping is so aggressive it could be a Duncan JB. I googling for the DI tracks to see if it was mentioned but no luck. Does is like low tunings?
I think the track is called "black rain", emg would be my first guess. Yeah it does love low tunings
I'm trying to save up some money so i can finally start my search for one of these amps. I'd really love to see how well these amps blend with some Eminence speakers, maybe something like a set of Eminence Man O War's or a set of Eminence Swamp Thang speakers.
Where you at i have this stack for sale fairly clean condition.
I have the combo version and I swapped the stock speakers for a DV77 and a Texas Heat. It definitely crushes

I am literally leaving Seattle to go get the last of my belongings in 10 minutes unfortunately the head and cabinet are here in Seattle . I will be offline so to speak until i get back in about 10 days . Also i really want to sell the cabinet and head together seems like people really want the head and not the cabinet but id really like to sell both together .

What’s the signal chain like for this tone? Loving it
Sounds like a guitar with a bridge humbucker into a clean boost like an SD-1, TS-9 or even an eq like a Boss then straight into the amp. Don't scoop the mids. A noise gate would be useful.

Most cases I know involve a boost, but this sounds great, perhaps even better as it’s the amps own brutal tone at its least diluted and with that much articulation and tightness, more gain or a boost aren’t even needed, especially for mix cutting scenarios.

Great place to start. Plus it helped me out with the faulty loop which is pretty common on those Ampegs. My only issue with the amp. Wish i still kept mine but, I traded a sweet and mint oversized boogie cab for it

Every amp is transformed with an EQ in the loop.
