Hey Ola..you probably already know but a paid upgrade has come out with all the effects an 4 pre 4 post effects blocks which basically turns it into a mini Kemper stage (without profiling ability)
Hey Ola, Kemper introduced "Liquid Profiling" about 6 months ago, where you can tell the Kemper what kind of amp and tonestack you are using and where the knobs were during profiling. Then the Kemper emulates the function of said amp/tonestack and gives you a very good combination of profiling and simulation. So it can really do both now and allow for a faithful/usable editing of profiles.
Yeah I did play around with the tonestacks a bit. I really just felt that it's more about where the EQ is working when using it. I still prefered the original profile without tweaking bass, middle, treble
Loving the player so far, it has kept me from option paralysis. Found 4 profiles i love and just use them as needed,no more endless tweaking. Using it as a pedal platform and building a board around it.
When I went to a guitar store, I made sure to always have my Kemper with me. If I found and amp I liked, I would ask if they would let me profile it. Some did, some did not. If they did, I would bring it in, set it up and profile it. So I knew EXACTLY what the original sounded like. When I got it home, I would try it out while the memory was still fresh in my head. Perhaps conformation bias made me believe it was a perfect copy, but it was amazing. I "collected" eleven profiles of very high demand amps that way. I even got a Dumble that had a price tag of $110k. But eventually it came back to haunt me. I left it in the trunk and came back out, it was gone. Someone smashed my window, popped the trunk lid open, cleaned me out. Whoever has my Kemper got it preloaded with some KILLER tones. I hope they choke on it.
I was given an introduction to the Kemper Player at the headquaters in Recklinghausen. There will be an update to fix some bugs and add more slots for effects (up to ten I think). Also the power adapter is outside of the kemper and not grounded, there is a noise when you only use your headphones and nothing else but the guitar is attached - they are searching for a solution for this.
Yeah, the Spark 40 had that problem too, but if you grounded it through something, even a usb cable, it eliminated hum . They ended up making grounded psu .
Kemper Liquid Profiling has changed the destructive editing thing you're talking about. Which was pretty much like using an EQ on your signal chain like anyone would normally do and its something front of house already does as well so it isn't really as negative as people were thinking.
@@WholeLottaBulldog ToneX One (that micro pedal that you can load two full amp setups incl. Wouldnt it be great if this would also have a tube or power amplifier for live playing with a band? Also if you could add your ipad to this thing on top for easy set switching, where you could switch effects and amps easily per drag and drop would be awesome. Well i saw there is a function to connect your ipad, but the software looks horrible to me for easy and fast use on stage. If that would be refined with good UI design, i could get into it. Also Important to me is when i would use this thing, that i have a very similar feeling to a tube amp while playing.
super cool, I love my Kemper, I don't think there is much room for improvement on sound or feel, but man they take a long time to boot up, hope the pedal is faster.
Hey Ola! Can you make a kemper profile pack of all the amps you have? With your settings and pedals and your IRs? Id love to have access to some of your tones!
Hello, I’m playing bass in a 2 pieces grindcore band, only drum and bass. Wanna ask you a question, is it possible for me to separate it into 2 channel, 1st one is distortion sound, 2nd is clean and can i switch or turn off one of em whenever i want?
Of course. You have 10 Banks each with five rigs. What you want would use Bank one just using two rigs, you can switch between them using any two footswitches. You could just use Bank one and have five rigs (add some FX) that you could switch between, seamlessly and instantaneously.
Hi. Today I was offered a Kemper and I tried it with Catalyst 60. Signal goes to power in Catalyst, return input. And satisfaction, It plays best with the IR turned off.. Between the Kemper and the Catalyst I'll also put the Flamma looper 😀 You know what I enjoy the most is that Kemper plays songs from my mobile phone at the same time as the guitar via Bluetooth...
Considering this thing does not do proifling and tonex does (Just as well as Kemper), while also being twice as cheap, I think the winner between the two is clear.
Don’t get why people keep comparing it to Tonex. It doesn’t profile and has additional effects other than amps. Should be compared to hx stomp,gt 1k core etc.
@mtsalmela80 wouldn't argue that. All of these units have their drawbacks. I could say the hx stomp doesn't sound as good as the kemper. It's all about tradeoffs.
@@stephonwilliams8890 They are both very realistic sounding and fairly inexpensive amp/cab profile players in a very compact unit. The stomp,1k core are just traditional modelers that some people are trying to get away from?
The biggest miss on this for me is the absence of midi which is why tonex will still be superior for me. I've had the kemper stage, the fractal fm9 and now the tonex. And the tonex simply delivers in tones with the least amount of effort and tweaking. For some reason 95% of the sounds that I download for the tonex pedal need zero tweaking, it's just done right for live use. With the FM9 I had to spend hours and with kemper stage I could not find tones that would not require severe tweaks. And tonex has midi so I can really get the most out of it while using the hx effects to simply control the tonex with. If kemper at least had the midi in for this it would be amazing. For me, kemper only makes sense if I have tube amps and want to capture my tones because other people's tones just don't do it for me. Even more so if you run specfic tunings, guitars/pickups or you need to adjust clarity, gain, general EQ settings (mildly).
I think I prefer Tonex over this profile player too, but just so you know - they BOTH work just fine with MIDI as is evident via roughly 10 seconds with google....
The fun part is its suspected it has the same processing power as the racks but youll have to pay for that funtionality 😅. I have to admit there are profiles I've been dying to try, especially from Top Jimi
Just ordered one for recording at home does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions as far as running it direct or could you stack it through a head? Thanks 🙏
I've owned the Kemper and Fractal units for the past 10 years... I've never been able to pick a clear winner. Personally I feel the Kemper produces better hi gain tones and the Fractal has superior effects
People attacking kemper tone is so funny. They probably know more than Judas Priest musicians. Btw, the tone in this video is actually quite bad! I think he has the Pure Cabinet option active. I dont recognize my unit AT ALL watching this. If you guys want to know how Kemper is, you should watch Andertons kemper blindfolds, those are must watch.
how are you sold on something that is twice the price and less accurate than the tonex? The few extra effects you can get theough any multifx. With a used HX Fx you get endless fxs with more accurate tones with basically the same price or less
first of all, it's a profiling amp not a modeler. The modeling is just a nice side benefit. The kemper is essentially about storing the essence of your own ANALOG TUBE amps in a digital amp (of course not everybody can afford boutique amps). But that has always been the philosophy from Kemper - get your nicest guitar sounds and store them digital for convenience. Everything else is icing on the cake and got implemented through updates over the years. So if you have this exact use case (your beloved analog amps and no crappy digital amp replicas), the kemper is unmatched. Whether it is tonewise, the feel or authenticity of the amp. It's a 98% representation of the original analog amp. And like everything in life: shit in shit out - crappy profiling always depends on the operator. The signal chain from guitar, pickups, strings, cable length, mics, DI box , refine process and of course the amp itself is crucial for best results (you get what you put in effort- and equipment wise). Studio Profiles, Liquid Profiles, Merged Profiles, Direct Profiles - Kemper has a lot to offer for every enthusiast of high quality authentic guitar sounds ---- You Choose Yes, you can buy profiles online and surf the rig exchange and download some for free. But then you'll never come close soundwise to a great profile which is done/produced by yourself and your own gear. I have my kemper 10 years + , so it's a longterm experience for me. Kemper Player is such a great extension to the Profiling amp. Portability and touring is on another level.
Agree. In fact old profiles can't even "change". Nevertheless, some effects may be missing because the Player is limited to 2 effects slots before amp and 2 after.
It blows my mind that units like this or the ToneX pedal come without a display (the segment display on the ToneX is a joke). A descent screen doesn't cost much these days. And while the PC or phone editors are nice to have, I think it's a mistake to solely rely on them.
I have an Amperium from St Rock which uses a phone app and I've literally never used the physical controls on the unit except the volume knob. It's so much better than getting down on the floor to adjust something
@@gabrielstevens41 As long as the apps work and there is time. They are more convenient than bending down and fiddling with the knobs. But, having to pull out my phone when I want to change something during rehearsal is awful to me. Plus, in a few years, when Bluetooth 7.3 isn't backwards compatible or the editor app doesn't run on iOS 21 the pedal is pointless. Amperium at least gives you the option to do everything without an app.
@RobbDizzl you get used to it. I don't do a lot of adjusting anyway. Usually it's just tweaking a noise gate or something once I'm playing with my band vs building a patch by myself.
To be fair, the ToneX is nearly 1/2 the price of this new kemper that doesn't even profile or include ANY display. The "joke" of the display on the tone-X, while old-fashioned to be sure, is actually quite usable after taking a day or so to learn the interface...i.e. sure it's not great, but at least a) there IS a display and b) it gets the job done perfectly fine in the vast majority of uses
@@gabrielstevens41same, I don’t do a lot of tweaking either… I think by the time I got to rehearsals, I would have most of everything setup and midi. That and I feel like most tweaking I’ve done with this is just grabbing one of the 20,000+ profiles on rig exchange.

@@guitartoneSA thank youuuu
Can you run this into a Katana PowerAmp?
Hi. Today I was offered a Kemper and I tried it with Catalyst 60. Signal goes to power in Catalyst, return input. And satisfaction, It plays best with the IR turned off.. Between the Kemper and the Catalyst I'll also put the Flamma looper 😀
You know what I enjoy the most is that Kemper plays songs from my mobile phone at the same time as the guitar via Bluetooth...
Great video but that guitar is what I’m liking the most. Which Solar model is it?
The sound might be okay, however, for the price I would have expected MIDI utilization for live gig use as well.
It has USB Midi and XLR out.
I've been out of the game for a bit. Is this basically what's replaced Multi Effects Pedals?
Yep, and amps as well.
Can you use old presets from the bigger Kempers?
Cool man, how can I get the new preset you created?
00:04 that drum tone (especially snare) sounds so much like the latest Dying Fetus albums hehe
Hey ola whats the song at 6:30?
Considering this thing does not do proifling and tonex does (Just as well as Kemper), while also being twice as cheap, I think the winner between the two is clear.
How quick does it change patches? Is there a noticeable gap when shifting?
Nice, Ola, Metropolis! Great song
Ola! 🎉do you run the Kemper into a cab or studio speakers in this video? Sounds fantastic as fuck!
@12:38 yeah, they really "Put the *NAIL* on the head!" 😂 agreed 😁
kemper profiler player / Headrush Core / Quad Cortex. Ola please help to decide which one to buy.
Ola, do you know about the Tight Metal Pro II? hope one day to see it demoed on your channel! by the way, nice guitar!
Hi Ola, any chance you'll review the new KMA Machines Endgame pedal?
How is this better than the $400 ToneX?
Don’t get why people keep comparing it to Tonex. It doesn’t profile and has additional effects other than amps. Should be compared to hx stomp,gt 1k core etc.
@stephonwilliams8890 it doesn't have anything close to the flexibility of the stomp
@mtsalmela80 wouldn't argue that. All of these units have their drawbacks. I could say the hx stomp doesn't sound as good as the kemper. It's all about tradeoffs.
Or the Ampero Stage 2 that just came out which at least as far as features go shits on this for the same price
@@stephonwilliams8890 They are both very realistic sounding and fairly inexpensive amp/cab profile players in a very compact unit. The stomp,1k core are just traditional modelers that some people are trying to get away from?
Is that an Apogee interface? Apogee need to release a new version of that Ensemble. When the heck will it happen?
Agree! I’m waiting… a little longer
Why, what else features do you want for example?
Look up that black Ensemble in Ola'ss rack. Exactly that kind of form factor, updated. It has reamp outs and a lot of goodness in a 1U rack @@mylogify
If I had that much cash to spare, the first item on my wishlist is that gorgeous red & gold Solar!!! 🤘😎🤘
Can I go straight in a Cabinet Box? Dont think so, I would need a pre amp, am I right?🤨
You are correct.
@@AWMJoeyjoejoe thank you very much. I appreciate your comment and your help!
Still Loving You....? Yes, I love my KEMPER Stage more than ever!!! 💜💜💜
That clean modulated sound is beautiful!
That's always been My favourite sound for writing emotional music!
I just wrote a *lovely* ballad called Chugging Clean Viking Bat Blood
Its just kinda made me scratch my head cuz why dont they add a screen on it? Like I would like to use a tuner without adding another pedal
So this is your new live go to rig?? No more tubes just a plug in kemper and Rawk
Love your original DooM shirt ! 🦖
There is some sweet spot in the mid on the intro, can't put the finger on it (obv. not there), but it's almost gnarly, the down pick just. Gnaurl 🎸
Just ordered one for recording at home does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions as far as running it direct or could you stack it through a head? Thanks 🙏
Worth noting it DOES have midi/ using a USB > MIDI cable :)
Nice unit but I am sticking with my QC.
sticking with your Quality Control?
@@mylogify quad cortex maybe
I've owned the Kemper and Fractal units for the past 10 years... I've never been able to pick a clear winner. Personally I feel the Kemper produces better hi gain tones and the Fractal has superior effects
Did they have to make this thing shaped like it's straight from the 1970s? Many of their competitors are smaller at a similar price point.
Hey! Thanks for the comment. What is "Pure Cabinet"? I'm a Kemper newbie. Thanks.
does it supports external midi pedals?
yes. with an adapter
how are you sold on something that is twice the price and less accurate than the tonex? The few extra effects you can get theough any multifx. With a used HX Fx you get endless fxs with more accurate tones with basically the same price or less
Mr. Ola, if you could upload that new preset, it would be amazing :)
first of all, it's a profiling amp not a modeler.
Studio Profiles, Liquid Profiles, Merged Profiles, Direct Profiles - Kemper has a lot to offer for every enthusiast of high quality authentic guitar sounds ---- You Choose
Yes, you can buy profiles online and surf the rig exchange and download some for free. But then you'll never come close soundwise to a great profile which is done/produced by yourself and your own gear. I have my kemper 10 years + , so it's a longterm experience for me.
Kemper Player is such a great extension to the Profiling amp. Portability and touring is on another level.
Yep! My diezel vh4 profiles I got on rig exchange sound pretty damn good.
IMHO The old profiles did not change. Your hearing developed.
Agree. In fact old profiles can't even "change". Nevertheless, some effects may be missing because the Player is limited to 2 effects slots before amp and 2 after.
No effects loop?
Saludos de Concepcion; Chile. Vikingo loco.😂😂😂
Could someone please tell me the name of the song he's playing the main riff too around the 6:30 mark? I think its Dream Theatre. Thanks!
Metropolis Pt 1
Yes, it's Dream Theater - Metropolis Pt. 1
Thanks Ola! Have a very safe trip to California and back home!@@OlaEnglund
i think it has usb midi?
Hey Ola!!! Are you gonna be at NAMM this weekend?
Yes, he will. I believe it was his SWOLA episode where he mentioned it.
KILLER PLAYING OLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When is this dropping? Doesn't look like it's for sale yet.
It’s out now… I’ve got one and I love it. Been using it to record and it sounds amazing on recording. I think they are back ordered now, tho
@@aiRxShop Ah, that explains why I can't add it to cart. Thanks.
Can i use that only with gabinet? Or need a poweramp?
You need a power amp to power a guitar cabinet. If you have a powered FRFR speaker you can do without a power amp
How much are we talking for this pedal Ola?
What about the latency?
Kemper doesn't have latency, at least not noticeable.
I love that Solar 😩
@OlaEnglund Very nice video! How can we can get your new profile? Thanks
I'm sending this message directly from Curitiba, Brazil, I really like your videos, big hug🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

That git is beautiful!
Right, it's time to go Kemping!
