Hello, Mic.
I’m an Arabic from the middle east particularly from Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
All my life I’ve never heard of something called veganism and I’ve been raised to eat so much meat and unhealthy foods due to my culture which demands to kill and murder animals for so many reasons.
Lately, I’ve been watching your videos not because I’m vegan but because the way you explain things is so easy and understandable
Your sources are scientific and legit and you don’t bs like other health channels.
Over time I’ve done my own research and looked every way around me and I’ve seen how my culture is unhealthy.
Thanks for opening my eyes to the reality.
I'm now a vegetarian for 3 months and I’ve never felt so great like this and planning to be full vegan after a year.
It’s very sad how the truth is not spreaded while the lies and the deception is everywhere.
Can I translate your videos in Arabic and upload it to my channel so may some of those Arabs who’s interested in nutrition be informed?
That is great, keep learning and moving into a vegan life style. It takes a long time for the lifestyle choices to change. Meaning the house cleaning products to skincare, fashion. Animal derived Plastic, medicine, supplements and environmental affects on all of that.
The animals pure suffering and torture, as we life in ignorance, it’s meant to be bliss as the saying goes. Diet is not as hard to change though.
I'm coming from a Turkish culture and can relate to that so much. Here's an article I think you'd be interested in reading almadinainstitute.org/blog/vegan-sunnah/
1) your English is fantastic.
2) How accepting were your family and friends of the changes you made? Super curious to know how veganism goes down in culturally- and religiously-strong societies.
Fucker didn’t even have the courtesy to reply to you...
gary pack screw you man! I hope you have a day with many unfortunate events! 😡😡
It was easy for me to drop cheese and now looking at it disgusts me.
I don't even feel the need to try vegan cheese.
Rupesh Patel same
Rupesh Patel
I miss it like crazy... So damn delicious. Let's be honest. It's one of the most delicious things on the planet. What it actually is is disgusting no matter what.
Herb Derb I honestly don't miss it and I was lacto-vegetarian before so I was eating a lot of cheddar cheese and paneer. I do eat Tofu though which is kind of similar to paneer.
+Herb Derb taste is subjective, I didn't really like cheese that much to begin with, the thought of it never even crosses my mind
TBH vegan cheese sucks xD. Tried it once and decided to stick with real food other than processed shit. I actually think that, if you're going vegan for health reasons, you shouldn't eat processed food even if it's plant based
Before becoming fully vegan, cheese was the hardest thing for me to give up. I found milk repulsing but cheese was just too good! Now it all makes sense! Thanks for making this video! :)
That doesn't even make sense. Cheese is milk. You can't find one repulsive and the other good. Also, you used to love milk when your mother used to give it to you as a baby! You weren't always repulsed by it.
Trying to find rationale in inherently subjective, subconscious arenas in life (like eating habits) is irrational. People are sensitive in unique ways to taste, texture, consistency, colour, flavor pairings, presentation, nostalgia. That lady recounted her experience, you are analyzing her from a distance, not a way to be conductive in conversation.
Nina, I was just trying to get her to consider another way of looking at things. Especially since I think dairy, meats and eggs are a necessary part of human diet and very healthy. Also, that vegetables didn't exist before the agricultural times. Fruits also are man-made. Insects, however were common food items for ancient humans.
clear mist that was her mother's milk not milk from a cows titty
Brigitte Belle same! Still having trouble with JUST EFFIN CHEESE SO GOOD ON EVERYTHING... sigh... :c
Not to mention cheese is loaded with transfats. When I went vegan, giving up cheese was the hardest part, right behind steak. But like any addiction, give it time, stay strong and it goes away.
lmao I was the first view
anyway, I remember that when I went vegan I had no problem dropping cheese, but everyone kept telling me that I'd eat it again because it's "impossible to give up." It's like everyone I knew was smoking crack lol
Camila Stefanie yes same.
twee3 well I went vegan cold tofurky so I dropped everything at once lol
but other of my vegan friends told me that cheese was always hard to give up. Not eating meat is the easiest because it looks like the dead animal and cheese doesn't so you don't exactly make the connection immediately. At least I didn't make the connection before going vegan.
anyway, what matter is that we don't put either animal part in our bodies anymore so yay for that
Camila Stefanie cold tofurky lol
Kitty DorkDork I think the only non vegan think I ever craved was three days into veganism that I wanted jello shots. Like 20 minutes later, I had already found a vegan replacement for the jello and that was the end of it.
It was because my friend added me to a vegan Facebook group in my country and they already had hundreds of products that were accidentally vegan and I didn't need to worry about it anymore. We have it easy these days: in the 70s they didn't have the means we have to be vegan. *Now there's just no excuse to consume animal products.*
M T same, people ask me all the time if I have cravings and when I say no, They are like not even cheese? You must be lying....
I don't really miss cheese.
I don't even see cheese as food, its just flabby yellow stuff
"Flabby yellow stuff" I'm deceased hahahahaha
WickedKnightAlbel Same!! I the only thing I miss is milky/creamy things like ice cream or snack food fillings. Obviously horrible for me, but that doesn't stop me from wanting them!
Try soy or coconut ice cream. You might like it more because it's a lot less heavy.
WickedKnightAlbel Oh thanks, I will!
i grew up around dairy farming and i gave it all up, cheese was the shit until i realised what the fuck it really was, don't be afraid to give a fuck x
My ad for this video was for Cheez-Its... Come on.
I used to love cheese. But then I became vegan and honestly I don't need it. I don't even eat vegan cheese.
Vegan cheese is trash compared to real cheese.
samuraimonkey There are some good ones but ye I don’t really miss cheese.

I wish everybody had the same dislike as me for cheese. I refused to eat it since I was 3 years old. It is disgusting.
I am the only one in my family who has never been overweight. They all eat cheese...
I used to spend nearly £400 a MONTH on Dominos.
Now I'm sat here, eating Roasted Vegetable CousCous........What the hell happened to me?! xD
Knowledge.
Haha oh my! That’s a lot of money, calories and cheese!
Glad to hear you have stopped!
Trust the process 😉
Same here man. I used to eat lots of crap, tons of processed foods like frozen pizza, fast food burgers, kebabs etc.
Now, two years later:
Today I had an apple and amaranth for brealfast. Afterwards some millet with salat. And for dinner I'll have probably lentils with curry and veggies :)
I feel and look better and save money. One of the best decisions of my life
Those pesky John Rose vids happened to you?

I do use nooch, but TBH, I don't think it really tastes anything like parmesan. I never understood that common claim.
Curt Randall I don't either. I was honestly disappointed when I first tried it I had much higher expectations! haha
Curt Randall maybe u haven't tried minimalist baker parm recipe. Nooch, garlic powder, salt, cashew. .. in the right proportions = GRATED CHEESE!! so yum. Hope you try and like 😊
j vallejo same thing i said to Curt Randall: maybe u haven't tried minimalist baker parm recipe. Nooch, garlic powder, salt, cashew. .. in the right proportions = GRATED CHEESE!! so yum. Hope you try and like 😊
Vegan cheese in all it's various forms is so "cheese like" now that as a confessed cheese addict I had no issue giving up cheese.
Sarah Fox meh. In Germany it's all shite.
Herb Derb That's a shame.
Sarah Fox what's your favourite vegan cheese
#fellowcheeseaddictthatwantstoveganlateron
Micki Babe my favorite is Daiya with Jalapeno's. It's a Harvarti style cheese. bio Cheese which is Greek is ok and also Green Vie which is also Greek is pretty good. Have a look at the UA-cam Channel, Jess Beautician... she has lots of recipes where she uses cheeses made from cashews.
Micki Babe Personally my favorite is Follow Your Heart slices. The Smoked Gouda and Pepper Jack styles are my favorite but all the slices are really good. I'd agree with Sarah that the Daiya jalepeno harvarti is really good as well. Another one of my favorites is Field Roast Choa cheese. They have an original and also a tomato cayenne style which is amazing
Yes dairy is delicious but knowing how it fucks your body up and the immense cruelty behind it makes me want to puke. I don't care if it tasted 100x better... I still don't want that shit in my body!
Grilled CHAO cheese sandwich is my FAV (the white one) for those of you who miss grilled cheese :)
hammypie I just ate that with avocado lol
It doesn't destroy your body, dairy builds up your body. Nature wants you to eat it. After all, your first food, and the first food of all humans is the dairy from your mother's breast milk.
Cruelty? Humans are the most humane. I guess you haven't seen a cat tearing up and eating a rabbit's face off (that is still alive). Or animals playing with their food, before they eat it raw. Animals are food. You must think all animals are the cruellest creatures on the planet. Even herbivores will stomp on animals and eat their own kind if presented with the choice.
i haven't even gone vegan yet and i already miss
It is not bad for you. It's actually calorie dense with a lot of needed iodine, calcium, protein and fat. Sorry, of course everything in moderation
"JUST PICK IT OUT" oh if I had a dime for each time...
I'm a simple guy. I see Mic, I share, like, watch it once, send it to a friend directly, check the sources, and then watch it again.
BUT DID YOU CLICK ON EACH ADD THO?
you should :)
Im writing an Essay on food addiction for my Psychology Undergrad and I came here to look for the journals that you've put in your description haha. thank you for always citing your sources- its immensely helpful
I've been waiting for this video all my life. Giving up cheese has probably been the most difficult thing. I was able to drop meat, eggs, milk, etc. very easily, but I still crave cheese to this day. Luckily, I've continued to refuse it for ethical reasons, but it's been very difficult. I'm glad it isn't just me 😦. Great video Mic! Keep up the inspiring work.
How long have you been vegan?
evzv Around 4 months or so. I'm a newbie. 😜
Thank U for this wildly important topic! and loving the Plantspace you are one awesome Vman!
I really appreciate all the research that you put into your vids. So glad I found your channel!!
As far as cheese goes, when I went vegan I literally dreamed of eating cheese (feta specifically) off and on for a few months. Now it's not a problem. I'll get a weird craving every so often, but it passes. Was definitely the hardest thing for me to give up, and this gives me reasons :-).
Thanks for noticing!
Mind blown once again. Thanks for doing the research and condensing the information!
Again, another great video! To the point, smart, and always learning something new. Keep making videos!
love your pace here, most vids take ages to cover only half this info. great for showing anyone. awesome job as usual!
Man! I just love to ear you talking! You always get your facts straight! Big props from Portugal
Great presentation on the topic. The Cheese Trap is one of my favorite books by Dr. Neal Barnard. Great job!
Oh man, I was just doing some research on this. Thanks for doing the work for me.
I gotta say .... I went vegan cold "veggie" and have no regrets or issues!!!! #plantbased for #life
Awesome video man keep it up
Thank you for all your efforts to clarify the relationship between health and diet.
This is so good, I've been binging on your videos.
Ich hab keine Lust das jetzt zu übersetzten, aber, die Dosis macht das Gift. Danke
Speechless at the amount of research and "wow material" this vid contains. Absolutely blown away... Thanks +Micthevegan
Thanks for highlighting THE CHEESE TRAP - Dr. Barnard covers the nutritional issues so well in this book, and also addresses animal ethics. I've been vegan 20 years and yep, cheese was hardest to release from diet... but also most rewarding in terms of health.
So glad people are talking about this. I've been cutting back on dairy products and moving towards a plant based diet and cheese and butter have both been really difficult for me. Going to keep at it though!
This is fantastic content. Thank you!
nice one again Mic
I love your videos so much! So informative
Ok, so this explains why casein is such a common food additive in all sorts of packaged foods.
Thank you for this video!
I never had an issue giving up cheese even though I ate it pretty regularly. I feel like it's mostly just an excuse people make.
Some people are more easily addicted than others, but yeah you'd need to eat quite a lot of cheese before getting a high so I guess cheese is not necessarily that addicting.
it's a vegan scam
If you’re looking for an excuse to wolf down that double-cheese pizza for lunch, you may have found it in a news story that’s gone viral. Among the headlines: “Cheese Is as Addictive as Cocaine,” “Cheese Really Is Crack,” and “Study Finds That Cheese Is Just as Addictive as Drugs.”
The problem is that the study cited in these stories found no such thing.
Researchers at the University of Michigan asked participants to report which foods in a list were most difficult to cut down on or eat in a controlled way.
Not surprisingly, highly processed foods with added fat and refined carbohydrates-things like ice cream, French fries, cookies, chips and cake-topped the list. Cheese ranked somewhere in the middle; it was considered less addictive than sugary, processed foods but more so than steak, eggs, bananas, and broccoli.
Pizza was near the top of the list, but just because pizza has cheese on it doesn't mean it's solely to blame for pizza’s irresistibility.
Going beyond the study, many of the news reports speculated that cheese may be addictive because of a protein in dairy products called casein. When broken down during digestion, casein releases substances called casomorphins, which according to a registered dietician who was quoted in many of the stories, have an addictive effect on the brain similar to that of morphine.
But in fact the evidence is weak that casomorphins, when digested, affect most of us this way. And the dietician who made the questionable claim works for an advocacy group called Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which pushes veganism and urges people to shun cheese. Hardly an objective voice.
The widespread attention to this story reminds us that what’s really addictive is sensationalized headlines about what we eat. Too bad there’s no treatment for that.
ifer lyf, you won't get high by eating quite a lot of cheese. There's no evidence that cheese is addictive or that Casomorphins act like other Opioids in the body anyway. This is all a manipulation of studies to get news articles read & for a doctor to sell a book. www.sciencenews.org/blog/scicurious/no-cheese-not-just-crack?mode=blog&context=131
@@loushulgin-smythe940 Specially when your realize that they exist in human milk as well. There is nothing wrong with veganism, but their propaganda is toxic.
@@iferlyf8172 Not really it's mainly just excuses I got off alcoholism really easily and haven't went back, I tried smoking and it wasn't addicting what so ever it was actually just pure awful, food addiction that one I fell back into though is also easy to stop if you have will power and porn addiction is pretty easy to get off, for all of theses on the first couple of days just go out on walks and get some fresh air, focus on other things and it's actually easy to get off
Awesome video!
Hey Mic! I've researched vegan diet/lifestyle about 3 months before I took the plunge 2 weeks ago! I thought I was physically prepared but wasn't mentally. Now I'm feeling better than ever only two weeks in. I thought I would crave cheese but... Nope thankfully... Nope! Thank you for your videos, you have SERIOUSLY made my transition so much easier 💛💛💛
When I first went vegetarian, then vegan, my cravings were burgers and sausages. I didnt think of cheese until now. Thanks alot ^^ ;P
A homemade double bacon cheeseburger
I love that veganism can be funny and nerdy as well as informative. Love your work and sharing with my peeps -- thank you for the balance of science and energetic chuckle-tastic presentation!!
Your channel is amazing... on par with Michael Gregor but with even more wit and colorful graphics. Other you tubers just simply regurgitate Gregors videos but u have new things to bring to the table and deliver it well. Thanks!
you are so great, I love every single one of your videos!
I've noticed how people put cheese on everything. Even though it's so unnecessary. Like..salad. Why? Sigh my school food choices make me want to cry.
Because cheese is good with salad?
@@janisir4529 True.
Great job!
This definitely makes me glad I have never liked cheese. It just gives me a gag reflex... Always has, and I'm pretty thankful. My transition to vegan would have been much harder if I liked it.
Awesome video! This is incredible research, and a great thing to show people that I am working with to go vegan who are having trouble with cheese😃😃 I knew about the opiate affect, but not nearly in this much detail! Keep the great content coming as usual😃
This video should be compulsory viewing in schools and colleges. Thank you dooooo much Mic
Dude, you deserve millions of subscribers. I love every single one of your videos and how you back up everything with clinical research. Keep up the good work 💕
Thanks for the heads up about the email link, I thought it was because I used my phone rather than a browser. I'll try again! 👍🏽😊
You need more views and subscribers, brother. Very entertaining while informative:D Have an awesome week:D
easily one of the best vegan channels on youtube 🙏🏽🙏🏽 no bs just facts
I used to be addicted to cheese before going vegan
I Don't Know Elisa We all were.... lol
Mike keep up the great work xxxden
I literally had an addictive reaction to cheese and yoghurt. If I even ate a small amount I would get a strange prickly feeling on my tongue that would cause me to over eat for up to three days afterwards. I would eat everything in the house and even though my stomach was full and bloated my tongue continued to want satisfaction, I also got a kind of tension headache and couldn't stop thinking about food.
great video!
thumbnail is fantastic!
Very informative!
Aw man. I was feeling all jazzed on my recently discovered bedtime winddown cheese habit to settle my nerves, learning that it’s not just a placebo effect and does in fact keep the many niggling voices of my subconscious at bay, and then you had to hit me with the sleep apnea shit. I thought we were having a good time.
Thank you Mike, you helped a lot for me to get of this drug and to go from vegetarian to vegan
if you give up cheese for 2 weeks and try it again the cheese has a weird taste-like the way manure smells. It's gross
It's cow poop
I think it's just the combination of fat/creamy taste and salt with the soft texture.
I haven't ate an animal food for weeks and I found some vegan cheese. It has a young cheese taste, so it's not strong, but when I ate it I immediately went: hmmm yummm. Even when while it didn't even had the stronger cheese taste that I prefer and it actually wasn't such a great cheese taste. I was wondering by myself why I still really liked it. And came to the conclusion that it's the fat/salt combination with a soft texture that does it.
This vegan cheese does obviously not contain the thing you talk about. I seriously don't think that's the main reason people eat it. It's the taste and the variety of tastes.
texture is key I agree
its true..i feel struggling to breathe when I have too much cheese
Mic, you are hilarious! lol
But your content is very helpful! Thank you.
Hi Mic,this video is very informative. Could you please make a video about blood type and foods that we should eat accordingly. Thanks
thank you.
I love your background
I have been vegan for 5 years and just from watching this video about cheese the itch for cheese is calling. That is one addictive substance.
I have been vegan for about 3 months now, and cheese is something I crave from time to time. All the proof I needed right there. Still no dairy in my life though!
Great info...
Thank you
You're interesting to look at. Lol. Your hair is dark brown, your eyes are crystal blue, and your beard is blonde. Your name should be The Tricolored Vegan. Haha :D Thanks for the video!
JessBisme123 I think he’s hot lol 😻
His hair and eyes are really obviously fake. It looks really unnatural.
@@OldSchopenhauer What?
@@leghlegh384 If you look into his eyes close up you'll notice they have straight lines you only find in colored contacts.
Love your videos!!! Can you do a video on kefir? Its known to be super healthy, but I'd like to hear the negatives.
Maybe my love of cheese in my youth was why I felt no relief from 4 vials of morphine when passing a kidney stone.
I didn't need the casomorphins, I just needed something that tastes like cheese, which definitely wasn't vegan cheese from the store. I hate every one I've tasted.
Ground smoked almonds have helped me kick cheese, just today, and I think adding nutritional yeast will help too.
Damn. This video gets to the core. Poor cheese. I dropped it awhile ago, but I still miss it, sometimes.
Glad to see you are actually capable of making an honest video.
To add about pizza being at the top of the list, I for one know I dont crave the cheese in a pizza. I crave the sauce and crust (as was the suggested reason for it being addictive) most likely for the same reasons they claimed, its high carb content.
Im not a fan of cheese at all, which makes me glad you made one of your final comments about the reason cheese is so hard to avoid is because its in everything. Thats the only reason I even consume cheese, because it just happens to be there. I am fully capable and happy eating pizza sauce on an english muffin.
wow... GREAT VIDEO!! VERY FUNNY and TRUE
Wow!! That explains alot! I have been a cheese addict. Goodbye bovin slime. I will miss you.
Your videos are very informational and entertaining! Whenever I wonder about veganism I always watch your vids lol
A very insightful, thoughtprovoking video, once again, thanks! Password reset did not work for me:(
Yass Mic.
It took me some months to entirely give up cheese but I did it and don't miss it anymore.
honestly I never thought I could give up cheese, I loved it soooo much it was one of my favourite ingredients and now that I think about it I'm proud of myself and it wasn't as bad as I though it would be
I’ll never give up Brie, it’s too delicious of a combo of cheese and mushroom 🍄
It took me two whole years to genuinely lost interest in cheese. Such was the state of my addiction. Now the thought of it turns my stomach and I'm healthier than ever.
The occasional jokes in your videos make them much more enjoyable hahaha
You’re great
Keep up the good videos! I just watched a video from a local news station about how cheese could be good for you! so misleading!! Makes me mad people aren’t aware of how dangerous cheese can be for long term health
The "just pick it out quote"😂😂😂. Relatable
Deanna Wissman when I said I didn’t want to eat cabbage that had been cooked with ground meat I was told to “eat around it”. Really? 😂
Not sure where to post this. Could you do a specific video about coconuts? There is a lot of myths and rumors around them. People saying they are bad and packed with fat and giving you heart disease. Others say it's a great perfect healthy food. Just would love h to explain more about it!
Hands off! That's Nacho cheese!
Bad ass vid once again!! Personally, I had no problem giving up cheese with the help of my friend, nutritional yeast
This is great!😂😂😂

I love that you put vegan into logic!
