  • Georg Britzkow hold a seminar at the historical fencing "Fechtertreffen" at ‪@GW-Holten‬ and it was about the sabre or Haurappier of Bernhard Ignaz Montag from 1882.
If you have listen to Georgs "Cooler then Hutton" episode at ‪@russmitchellmovement‬, Georg will show you how the movements will look he was talking about.
Montag uses several volts (Volten) to attack and defend and he is using German vocabulary you might know from Kreussler fencing; Fehn, Roux etc.
btw. He also touches the hellish quart aka Polish quart.
Have a quick look. It was quite interesting.

Everyone who saw the "cooler than Hutton" episode will have clarified some points.
Its a really good teaser for Montags system. Most will have an image in mind after watching. Furthermore I think its really cool and unexpected for ~1880 sabre.

Just got this book last week , this is probably my new favorite source. I like that Montag gives options and his own personal recommendations to most of what he teaches. The offline lunges, passing footwork, and volts are also an interesting element that is unusual for this period.
It's not quite as easy to understand as a source like Josef Feldmann but it also offers more. Now I just need to learn more about Krueßler fencing.

Montag is a totally different kind of writing a fencing book at this time.
And if you want to learn more about Kreußlerian fencing; welcome to a very deep rabbit hole 😁
I would recommend you the translations of Tobias Zimmermann at Lulu.

The Self defense advice is very comical as well. I don't know that I would follow it though lol
