- This is an unreleased song by Stevie Nicks from the Tusk Sessions... The Song was later tried out for Bella Donna but was canned. In a studio recording of various banter with Stevie and company, she talks about how she gave the song away. Such a shame. This could have been a huge hit for either her or Fleetwood Mac.
I love this vocal: so sweet and fragile at times, tinged with the deep growl here and there: seemingly so effortlessly falling from those beautiful lips unto our ears.
I find the tempo perfect... it calls more attention to the lyrics. Personally, I find this song VERY intense... it's all in vocals... great vibe...
wow how could FM or Jimmy Iovine just can this song. It would of been huge hit
perfection
I love this so much! Her range is beautiful and so innocent and raw!!!!!!❤️
agree! ua-cam.com/video/E1GqnbOrS4U/v-deo.html
very nice...but then again anything Stevie does is beautiful to me.
Wow! I came here while reading the book "Get Tusked", and it amazes me that this obvious hit song from Stevie was ignored by the band, in favor of the self-indulgent crap that Lindsey put on the album. This was the point when the jealousy and insecurity of the others got the best of them. Injustices like this are why we got Stevie's solo career, thank God. But still, why didn't the producers and Mick and John fight for her? And then spend months on "The Ledge?" Unbelievable!
This is not an obvious hit song; pretty mediocre when compared to Sisters of the Moon or Beautiful Child.
@@lennyhooper5572 absolutely delusional
@@JesusGomez-ob2qt I've changed my mind completely in the two or three years that have passed since I wrote that. I think I was half-kidding at the time anyway. I've deleted the post.
hey, watch that tongue, if it weren't for Lindsey, she'd of remained a waitress
@@KenWillMortonMusicAnd if it weren't for Stevie, he would have had to get a real job the three years she supported him while she waitressed, clean houses, ECT while he smoked pot and played on his lil guitar.
I love her voice and feeling she puts into this song. This would have been perfect on TUSK!!! I LOVE YOU STEVIE
No tweaks please this is pure bliss just listening to her voice, such a pleasure.
this would have fit perfectly in the tusk track listing line up. kind of vibes like "honey hi", which is a fantastic song.
yes
problem is lindsay was jealous so they did tusk instead. album should have been called the dealer.
@@dylancharette5730 I think that would have been better!
Love this SONG.
🥰
Needs an improved bass part, funkier. But great.
I love this song. So many treasures of hers unreleased until years later.
"I was mistress of my fate..."
Fascinating...what a gem . ...they couldn' t tweak it enough to make it " good " enough for the album . And so we are listening to an " unknown " song . What they obviously considered to be a throwaway song..a " hopeless " cause . Yet it is great .
Paradoxical
great song and what a fantactic pic of Stevie, at that time she was the most beautiful woman in the world. totally gorgeous
chris williams
She still is!
@@julieschaefer8037 Still absolutely beautiful
It is a a lot deeper than the surface.,
This is my fave unreleased song from Stevie but I much prefer the Bella Donna outtake
never knew this existed….. my ears have been blessed
They should have recorded this on the Tusk Album. It,s a great song.
it is a wonderful hit for her in my opinion, was glad to see it on 24k gold.
"You'd just almost stayyyyy"
They should take all of the cut songs and make a Tusk 2
Makes you wonder how many “cut songs” there really are!
@@heaintloveu Too many!😊
This will always be THE version of the song for me. I remember the first time I heard it on a cassette tape in the nineties, a copy of a copy of a copy that us fns shared amongst ourselves. Even in that quality it was brilliant.
stevie needs to make a CD of her demos only.
Christine Church dont think a cd would hold all her demons
I actually have a cd of demos of hers. I have to find it.
@@snoops5581 And.....?
"24kt Gold"?
@@lisagabriel6084 24kt gold doesn't have any demos their all re-recorded studio versions of her unreleased material
Love this just the way it is! Great listening! Only problem is that if i listen just once, it ends up on repeat 5 more times, if thats even really a problem. She's a boss! This def deserved to be a release.
I'm the Mistress of my fate....
Great song!
I love this song.........
this is pure music..
its a good song lyrically but i think the music needed a lot of tweaking to make it more of a stand out track. the tempo could be a bit faster and music a bit more exciting and less dull. i have had this for years and i could see why they didnt put it on tusk. its missing that fleetwood mac magic. it would be interesting to hear it with more production from lindsey as im sure this was not the finished product (no backing vocals etc). just my opinion of course.
It's missing bass
Such a high definition and rich sound that you can feels it!!!👍
This is soooo good♥️
In one half hour I am hoping the version from 24 karat will be on US itunes for us to enjoy.
Did you like it as much as the demos?
I prefer the demo so much more!
Me too
This is one of my favorite unreleased songs from her. I wish there was live recording.
24 Karet Gold. Mistress, “I was the mistress of my fate,, I was the card shark , if I’d looked a little a head I would of ran away””I’ll just almost hold you, you just almost stay...........”❤️🦆
I agree.
She inspired me to write at a very young age. This demo rocks!
If she only knew what she would become!
Side 2 of Tusk could really use this song/vibe.. a lost opportunity to add more Stevie to an album that was too dominated by Lindsey
Stevie Nicks does days '...the looks/perfect voice...can't be better
Perfect michael Miller special thanks to you
The beat on this is very similiar to the "All The Kings Horses" demo as well. From the same time period definitely.
some of that's just effortless deal of the game .had to walk out
He is quite right fine song full of emotion lovely voice she has
What a lovely voice and song coming from fleetwood mac
If it wasn’t for Lindseys jealousy and shitty singles we would have had years and years worth of absolutely stunning originals by Stevie
The only reason that any of Stevie's songs back then ever became hits was because of the magic Lindsey bestowed with his arrangements, production, and guitar. Even Dreams was a mere boring, simplistic sketch until Lindsey worked his magic on it. Same for Gypsy.
In fact, the main reason he left in 1987 (aside from her and MF with the booze and coke) was that he was tired of making his ex's demos into hits.
My Queen take me with you
❤
To my knowledge, she didn't give the song away. She put it in her vault. That's why it was included on her 24 karat gold cd. Songs from the vault. She never previously released it. When the song was released, it was a nice song but not a hit. So, it wasn't a hit for her. I don't know if it would have been a hit for Fleetwood Mac either.
Such an awesome song. Would've probably been a huge hit
hey stevie !!this girl is pretty!! marry her lol.
im sorry but that is a good idea.....hahaha sorry again
aaah, thats a shame. it would be great to hear those more complete versions.
so many demos....just shows she's fabulous!
I love this Song ❤️❤️❤️😘
God so beautiful
Ooh my love!💜 What a treat!🕊️
Lived this song. Love it.
24karat gold
real queen love !
That works.
Love💕🎶✨❤️
Her voice was just beautiful. Such a shame. The 24 Karat version of this is horrendous. Only highlights the damage done. But you will still always rock to me Stevie ❤️💗❤️💗
