10 minutes is NOT enough time. When I traveled Greyhound, we were given about 30 minutes to use the restroom and get food. The driver then did a head count before leaving.
You had a good driver. Mine gave us "strictly 5 minutes to be back on the bus", and left literally after only 3 minutes, laughing and commenting to us about how he's nobody's babysitter and that the people he left behind should have just stayed on the bus if they saw more than 4 people get off to use the bathroom.
I was 19 years old and taking a bus from Minnesota to Humboldt TN and they stopped in Jackson TN and said here is where I have to get off because they no longer go to Humboldt. This was so scary because I had no way to tell my ride because it was in 1982 before they had cell phones
@@dtyallen9864 There's a difference between a rest break and meal break! A meal break of twenty or thirty minutes would be given after 3 to 4 hours! this was more than likely an unscheduled smoke break because the driver had a few extra minutes permitting the person go inside the building!
This happened to my niece a few years back. She took the Greyhound from California headed to Canada. There was a bathroom break at a rest stop in the Nevada dessert. When she came out of the bathroom, the bus was gone. She was early 20s at the time and looks like a young teen. She was more than an hour away from any town/city. I was once a driver for a company that partnered with Greyhound and we have never had any issues with Greyhound at the time and this is just outrageous! I always made sure my passengers got to where they are supposed to go . There is no excuse for this type of behavior.
I rode a Greyhound back in the early 80's. In Waco Tx they made us get off the bus as they said it needed cleaned. Once back on board many of us found things missing from the overhead shelf. Driver did not care and said if we wanted to complain we had to stay in Waco until the local office opened up and then we could file a complaint. The was the last time I ever rode a bus anywhere.
Tucker Carlson told Theo Von about taking a Greyhound in his college days visiting his girlfriend (now wife). Tucker was napping when the passenger next to him ( having sex with another passenger) stuck his gravelly-socked foot into Tuck's face, waking him up.
Greyhound is the worst. I had to use Greyhound after 9/11 from Florida to California for my dad's funeral. Flights were still grounded, and I missed the last train. I found that many of the employees and all of the drivers I dealt with were rude and hateful people. We were almost left somewhere in Arizona, and my 4 yr old son and I couldn't even sit together. Terrifying and terrible experience. Never again! I took the train back home. Much better service and experience.
Sounds about right I drove the bus back in another life and never met a decent human in their employ and many of of the passengers were also real pieces of work quitting that gig was a happy day

This company has been going downhill for about 15 years. It is who they hire that is the issue, they are allowed to treat customers badly but keep getting paid. Full house cleaning needed top to bottom. A relative got stranded at the New Orleans station for several hours because his bus left 30 min earlier than scheduled and he had to wait overnight for the next one, he said no one cared or tried to help at all. This was back in 2012. I posted this on other social media and urge others to do so too. It could be our relatives/friends this happens to.
Although it was quite a while (1984), something similar happened to me in New Orleans. A connecting bus I was on from Lafayette to New Orleans left Lafayette 3 hours late, and I missed my connection in New Orleans. I had to wait 24 hours for the next bus headed to Louisville, KY, and they did nothing for me -- no alternative travel offer, not even a hotel. So I was stuck in the New Orleans bus terminal for 24 hours as a 19yo with a lot of luggage. It really sucked. 40 years later, I haven't travelled Greyhound again.
@@blanebrinkley8333 I am actively encouraging people to rip off the company. I'm encouraging people to do chargebacks even if the service was good for that trip. Just to make the company lose huge amounts of money. And if the executives at Greyhound want me to stop encouraging people to do chargebacks and screw over a greyhound, the executives will have to pay me $500,000 but I'm sure they probably won't so therefore I'm going to continue flexing free speech and encouraging the chargeback challenge. And yes this is one challenge that I have thoroughly participated in and have encouraged on tiktok.
Their reputation has been seriously damaged in the last couple of years, first with closing terminals and refusing to answer questions as they did in this case. The last time I rode a Greyhound was in 2003.
At least they had stations back then. Often now the buses do curbside pickups and drop offs with no amenities. If one is lucky, in downtown. Or if not, some place with little nearby. For as bad as they were then, they're multiple times worse now. Most avoid Greyhound. Pays to spend a bit more for a safe, reliable ride.
I was a homeless dead head in the 90s and lived on the greyhound. I would buy "stuff" at concerts and then sell it all on the bus while going nowhere back and forth across America. Good times.
My wife & some other passengers were left at a bus stop for two days before another bus came to pick them up. It was a weekend, and they had no food and had to sleep in chairs. Greyhound should be sued, and charges filed and force them out of business.

Luckily a kind owner of the gas restaurant kept my mom calm, fed her and let her stay in a back room they had for her to rest. The owner called Greyhound and complained for them to give her another ticket because she had no money with her. Greyhound has suggested for her to buy another ticket and the owner said no you all need to give her another ticket to go home. I was on a Greyhound bus from Macon GA to Hollywood FL, and I witnessed passengers left at a gas station in a rural town in the middle of nowhere. Also the bus driver kept threatening to kick people off the bus in the middle of nowhere because they were talking. She pulled over the bus multiple times in a unsafe fashion and walked up and down the aisle reprimanding all the passengers like they were children and threatening to kick everybody off the bus, and if they have a problem with her they can get off. We were all scared to get left in the middle of nowhere that everyone basically stayed quiet. That was the worse experience I've ever had and would never recommend taking a Greyhound bus ever again. I can provide details of my trip if you need dates and time, I'm pretty sure the people who were left reported it to Greyhound customer service.
I once took the greyhound across three states and while I was on the bus, the driver pulled over to a gas station to use the bathroom. He made an announcement that if anybody gets off the bus and if they’re not back on by the time he gets back on, he’s leaving them behind, a young underage teenager who looked to be about 16 was riding the Bus . He left all his duffel bags on the seat and got off the bus with the driver to go use the bathroom as well. The driver came back and got on the bus and started it and the people in the back were yelling for him to wait. There was a kid in the bathroom. The driver closed the door and said I told you if you’re not on the bus by the time I get back I’m leaving you behind and as he started to pull away, the young kid came running out of the gas station, and made it to the doors, the bus driver didn’t even acknowledge him and just continue driving and left the kids standing there with all his property still on the bus. People in the back of the bus started yelling at the driver and calling him names and the driver made an announcement that he wants his bus quiet and if nobody likes it and they continue talking or he hears a peep out of anybody he’s kicking them off the bus as well, everyone stay quiet until we got to our destination where we switched buses. That’s when people were calling him names as they were getting off the bus. I also flipped him off and called him some names and said I was going to report him and he laughed and said it wouldn’t be the first time, and make sure I spelled his name, right. Worst experience I ever had riding a greyhound bus for the first time I’ll never do it again
I rode Greyhound from Ft Lauderdale to Nashville. It was like the penitentiary, mental hospital and homeless camp all decided to ride the bus. I'm not exaggerating. This is what the drivers have to put up with every day. This is probably why they are so callous.
Terrible to drive off and leave passengers. Years ago I rode Greyhound and the driver made several stops and we had plenty of time to grab something to eat and use the restroom. They should not be allowed to just drive away leaving passengers especially if they are chasing down the bus!
NEVER, EVER, travel this company. Foreign company. Not US company. Took one 10 yrs ago. Was graduate student. Several, several, problems like this. Ive have personally seen this happen.
I transport RVs and trucks (ride the hound back) and of all the times I saw someone being left behind or kicked off the bus it's because they would not behave themselves on board the bus. I don't blame those drivers who don't get paid enough to deal with an adult kid
@@Grant_Travels2 I agree. It's the passengers that cause the troubles. I've gone cross country many times on a Greyhound and the only problems was the crazy passengers.
With the low prices of air travel, the usual interstate traveler is someone too poor to afford a plane ticket or too loathsome to get on a plane. I took a greyhound from Chicago to Seattle. The entire back half of the bus was filled with guys who had just gotten out of prison in Illinois and were heading to Seattle to find work on the fish processing boats. Some were shooting up on board the bus. I had my wallet stolen in Chicago and no longer had the documents I needed to get on a plane. One of the guys explained to me that on board the fish processing boat, the life was as orderly as prison, with no regular access to drugs. It was the only way those guys could stay clean.
@@seanmiley6294 a family member rode Greyhound for many years, I had to put a stop to it because Greyhound buses stop showing up and starting closing bus stations and make people wait on curbs. That was in Newark NJ in 2022, so Greyhound need to fired people.
Greyhound is NOTHING like it used to be. They are now owned by German company who are operating it like they do in Europe where they pick you up from street corners and gas stations. If the city has built a bus facility they can use then fine, they might use it, but the days of Greyhound bus stations all over the country staffed with employees that can handle situations when they happen are OVER!! So buyer beware. If you see the green FLIX buses going down the road, that's the company that now owns Greyhound. And on the gas station in Jackson, Tennessee, that's the normal stop. The previous Greyhound station that had been in continuous operation since 1935 was shut down a few years ago and the gas station is now your new bus stop. This ain't your grandpa's Greyhound but not going to get much better anytime soon I'm afraid.
I actually prefer the cheaper prices from not having to pay to maintain druggie infested stations. Alot of the time, the stops are at the city bus station or the local truck stop. But your right in that u should pay attention to the route that u are buying as to exactly where and for how long the stops are
Bus transportation is not like a jet going from airport to airport. There are few real bus stations, most stops are just that, a stop somewhere. A gas station, a stop sign, etc. it's not like everywhere you want to go has a bus station to stop at. That's what you get with a bus ticket, dropped off as close to your destination or transfer as possible, jets don't do that.
@@thud9797 this year in southern Oregon they have a hard time finding lots or areas that will give them permission to stop. I rode twice this year up to Portland Oregon to catch planes and recommended to friends of my older age. Super convenient only stop two places along route, have bathrooms and wifi. Takes just as long when I drive my car. On one late night ride there were many transients, as I was told by driver, they ride up from Sacramento to sleep at night. We were picked up at a local well kept truck stop and store and you should have seem them swamp the store and bathrooms. Anyway the next time I went to schedule they no longer picked up anywhere in southern Oregon due to vandalism of bathrooms and theft from stores. Friend bought ticket. @@BoratWanksta Yeah dude, it's unfortunately a huge part of the company culture. In order to extract maximum profits and still offer cheap fares, many drivers are overworked or simply not qualified. The company has very little customer service as well. It's nearly impossible to get any kind of compensation or even sympathy from them. Many people taking Greyhound are already very desperate and have no other option available to them. While the driver was completely rude, disrespectful, & unprofessional, I can't even hold him 100% accountable. They really run their drivers ragged. Just look up accidents that happen with Greyhound. For the drivers, they are desperate to keep their jobs. The pay is probably bottom tier considering the amount of crap they have to put up with. It's sad too, because I really enjoy traveling by bus. Much more than I enjoy flying. Sure it takes longer, but the experience of the open road is nice. But I fear the company execs really need to take a second look at how they are running their business or else they won't be around for another 10 years.
I caught the bus from in Camp Verde to Tuscan. The bus stopped on Phx for a 1 hour transfer, which ended up being an 8 hour lay over. I was to arrive in Tuscon at 5:30pm and I arrived at 3am. This is so pitiful that a bus driver would do this, where’s the liability , if the people get killed or hurt. Greyhound should be ashamed to even hire people like this. The driver could have hit the person running for bus, I hope no one gets hurt. A refund was not completed the driver left them stranded they should all get an attorney and sue for more then their tickets. This is very scary situation that hasn’t cost Greyhound yet but will eventually because this is pure negligence on Greyhound part. A person hired Greyhound for a job to get them to point A to point B and Greyhound is just leaving people in between point A and B, they didn’t fulfill their contracted part. Sue their butts off and ask for damages plus your ticket.
Here is my experience going from Portland Oregon to Olympia Washington about 110 miles: Trip from Hell to put it mildly, but at least I did not get stabbed like one customer going east on 84! This has to be the worst form of transportation I have ever seen! First, we left almost 30 minutes late. When we got on some passengers refused to let others sit by them. One guy actually ended up sitting in the aisle! Of course we pulled out with the passenger sitting on the floor and the driver oblivious! Finally as we got going someone said I could sit down as I was in the rear of the bus standing. Again the driver saw this and did nothing. After about 5 minutes there was a verbal argument with lot's of "F" bombs being used which I am sure the driver could here but did nothing (she did a lot of nothing by the way.) We were on the road from Portland to Olympia, when we stopped for a "break" in Centralia. No announcement of how long, just a break. We left the parking lot 3 short of those riding. She did not do a head count, it was only after a few us yelled at her to stop, that the riders got on. Horrible driver. There were at least two strung out on drug riders who should not even been allowed on the bus. As I exited in Olympia I actually had to step over the guy! Of course our less than observant bus driver did nothing. Worst experience from start to finish. I will never ride again or recommend. Contacted customer service and got the usual response- they really don't care. Plain and simple don't use Greyhound.
It happened to my aunt. Told to dismount on a random place not in the route. She complained and was told the driver had "internal problems coz of family issues". Bullshit!!! She almost died of a heat stroke ☠️
Only thing I can say is this: I’ve rode greyhound a lot and I do mean a lot-having said that I’ve seen lots of people left behind, the driver will tell you at what time he’s pulling off and how much time you have and if he says 15 mins I HIGHLY suggest you be IN the bus at that time or at least right behind them when they get on because if you don’t yes you will get left behind.
Got left behind by greyhound in 66 just 4 years old, traveling to California to spend summer with grandparents and aunt and uncles. The gas station that I was left behind at immediately called called greyhound and reported it and on top of it my brother and sister made such a commotion that the bus driver finally turned around after 2 hours of passengers making a fuss on my behalf. If he had waited 2 more minutes he would have kept his job, upside was until I was 12 I got to fly to Cali
Now they passed a law regarding unattended minors under 15 yrs old which is why Greyhound will no longer accept minors traveling alone who are under 15 years old. They have a run away program in which u can seek a ride home from Greyhound for free to u if u are a minor but over 15
Sounds like it,s a DRIVER ATTITUDE PROBLEM,ya think🕵️that driver clearly seen those people at that gas station, yet chose to drive away. That,s a Crime,a baby non the less💯a crime🙃
Many stations are closing across the country, leaving drivers unemployed, so they may be getting a form of revenge on the company that is letting them go.
Greyhound moves a lot of troops around, call your Rep and let them know you'd like to see that change considering they want to run a business like this
I was on a Greyhound once in late 90s. From Chicago to Reno Bus was on I80 , west of Salt Lake City. The Salt flats. Middle of nowhere. The driver noticed guys in the back drinking alcohol. Strick laws against this in LDS Utah , and Greyhound rules. The driver pulled over turned the lights on , and ordered the perps off the bus. He said State Patrol would arrive in 5 minutes (they did). He got there bags , threw them on the shoulder of the road , and drove off. I guess the troopers dropped dudes off somewhere. The drivers are LEGALLY EMPOWERED to remove problem riders , wherever they choose.
I actually got picked up with my friend while we were both hitch hiking in Nevada during a snow storm. He stopped along the on ramp and said where you going? We said we didn't have any money. He said get inside and I'll get you to Salt lake City. I'll never forget that Man. He said nobody should be outside in a bad storm. This was in 1987

Not only is this horrifying in general but the lady being dropped off with a random male passenger. Too many murderers out there for that to be happening.
The drivers will tell you that if you wander off or are not back in time that they will leave you. And the places they drop you off at or the routes are very backwards. Greyhound stations are not safe and I don't recommend bringing children anywhere near them.
get back on the bus on time, that's simple. I've ridden Greyhound cross country many times, it's the passengers that's the problem. i didn't have any disconnection by Greyhound ever over 2 decades riding with them.
I remember the bus stopping Barstow the desert. Driver told us 30 minutes for food and restroom and he would be leaving anyone not on. I was his shadow…he moved to the left, I moved to the left. He went for coffee, I went for coffee. I practically was back on the bus before him lol. He said guess you didn’t want to get left.
It might be cheap but riding the dog comes with unforeseen consequences. When the driver treats customers like they're fleas seems to be the case here.
This is one of the MANY reasons I would NEVER take a greyhound or patronize a business that works as a greyhound stop. Besides the bus drivers they also transport some of the worst criminals in the country. There is NO id checks to get on a bus so they freely transport criminals. My ex-con brother’s name he uses with greyhound is jack mihoff and they have never even questioned it.
Services were not rendered if the driver did not take them to their final destination which would be a bus stop. This is rediculous and dangerous...Keep fighting for the refund because it should be given them. Those drivers don't need to be driving buses.
They need to be held accountable for what they're doing to people because it is traumatic it is traumatizing and it is something you do not forget about or get over
Piss off the bus driver, and you're gonna get left by the side of the road. It has always been this way. People are just so used to being loud and obnoxious that we have reached a point where they don't understand why they were left.
SACRAMENTO, CALIFORNIA ... purchased a TICKET for travel and was told the bus leaves at 2am. Was NOT told ... at 10pm they told us the station closes and sent us OUTSIDE to wait in the COLD the next FOUR HOURS (with NO RESTROOMS). While that is terrible. Drivers give you a set time to return . It’s not their responsibility to make sure adults return. I am no fan of greyhound or trackways . Why are passangers not just looking at their watches or phones to know you only have 10 minutes.
What is missing in this report? No mention of trying to contact the drivers or even asking Greyhound for an explanation of the denial of service. I'm not saying that there must have been a good reason for this kind of action, I'm just saying that the report seems very one sided.

IDEALLY I would hope the federal government looks into this matter with greyhound bus service and begins to FINE THEM UNTIL they bring back the service people that riders had been accustomed to b4 it switched owners.
This also happens at Greyhound in Canada so it must be a Corporate policy. I was on a Greyhound bus going from the province of Ontario to the province of Alberta (3,297 km) and a guy was caught smoking in the bathroom. He was immediately removed from the bus and dropped in some field in the middle of nowhere in Northern Ontario at 3 am in the morning. I agree what he did was wrong but he should have been dropped off in the next town on the route not in the middle of nowhere in the pitch black. I have no idea what happened to this young man 20 years ago. This is something they have been doing for years and getting away with it.
There is no more Greyhound Canada. They shut down operations in the West back in 2018 and the remaining operations of Ontario and Quebec in 2021. Greyhound USA still serves Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver but all buses go back to the US so no real Greyhound service inside Canada any more.
Their policy is next available populated stop or they have to notify the police to come get them. If u are caught with drugs or alcohol u are immediately thrown off the bus for the other passengers safety and also I would guess so that the cops can have an easier time catching them. But their policy is they have to notify police if they are purposely abandoning u away from "shelter" for your own safety
@@Fignewtonjohn No, it has nothing to do with that man's beheading in 2008 on one of its buses. Greyhound just wasn't making enough profit in Canada anymore. If anything, it's probably due to more Canadians travelling by air, due to low-cost air fare providers like West Jet.

I remember that I took it to Galveston ...😊😮
Greyhound is the worst. I had to use Greyhound after 9/11 from Florida to California for my dad's funeral. Flights were still grounded, and I missed the last train. I found that many of the employees and all of the drivers I dealt with were rude and hateful people. We were almost left somewhere in Arizona, and my 4 yr old son and I couldn't even sit together. Terrifying and terrible experience. Never again! I took the train back home. Much better service and experience.
USA needs more trains, more often, to more places.

@@daisyle1203 I call B.S.

And yes this is one challenge that I have thoroughly participated in and have encouraged on tiktok.

greyhound has been pretty shitty since the 90's....

Underfunded, underqualified.
At least they had stations back then. Often now the buses do curbside pickups and drop offs with no amenities. If one is lucky, in downtown. Or if not, some place with little nearby.
There were more of you than there were of him.

They should fire the CEO of Greyhound, first and then fired the bus drivers.
Should they investigate or just fire them ?
Or passengers should be on time
@@seanmiley6294 a family member rode Greyhound for many years, I had to put a stop to it because Greyhound buses stop showing up and starting closing bus stations and make people wait on curbs. That was in Newark NJ in 2022, so Greyhound need to fired people.
Greyhound was bought by flix bus which started in Europe with no "bus stations".
Our greyhound station here in little rock/north little rock is gone now. It was for the best.
America once had the best railways in the world. People didn't wanna keep it.

After about 5 minutes there was a verbal argument with lot's of "F" bombs being used which I am sure the driver could here but did nothing (she did a lot of nothing by the way.)
We were on the road from Portland to Olympia, when we stopped for a "break" in Centralia.

These stories make no sense how do you get off a bus in a field or desert...
I wouldn't get off!
One word for this: LAWSUIT!

I was on a Greyhound once in late 90s.
From Chicago to Reno
Bus was on I80 , west of Salt Lake City.

Combining bad operations with terrible customer service is not a recipe for success.
Not only is this horrifying in general but the lady being dropped off with a random male passenger. Too many murderers out there for that to be happening.
The news media blows up the 1% of the negative because negative sells. Stop believing everything u hear / see on media

It might be cheap but riding the dog comes with unforeseen consequences. When the driver treats customers like they're fleas seems to be the case here.

While that is terrible. Drivers give you a set time to return . It’s not their responsibility to make sure adults return. I am no fan of greyhound or trackways . Why are passangers not just looking at their watches or phones to know you only have 10 minutes.
Greyhound was sold to a foreign company a few years ago .
What is missing in this report? No mention of trying to contact the drivers or even asking Greyhound for an explanation of the denial of service. I'm not saying that there must have been a good reason for this kind of action, I'm just saying that the report seems very one sided.
This horrifying

I remember years ago greyhound was not like this . They really cared about their passengers. I don't know why this is happening.
Hiring the people
They went downhill then got bought out by MegaBus which went further downhill.
Corporate greed.
Enshitification.
@@nancyjohnson5279 three trips this year up interstate 5…..the couple, both drivers, said they were sick and tired cleaning up the coach after druggies puke, vomit and diarrhea…they had been driving for 15 years and I was w them on their last run this year. Greyhound/FLIX now has no stops in southern Oregon at all. Businesses tired of their bathrooms being used to light up crack pipes and thefts from the stores. Even our local bus depot will no longer allow them to stop. I feel for the drivers and what they are asked to tolerate. I am hoping company can fix whatever to get it back in the area. They do yell several times, on this route, to be back on the bus x time and that they will not wait for anyone….always sad to hear children are left behind….no excuse for that. There sure needs to be two people on bus though. It can’t be safe for drivers as there are some real nutty people on these routes traveling from towns they’ve been kicked out of by Police.
Driver should be in prison.
That's why I take Amtrak
And USA needs more trains, more often, to more places.
I'd do the same but sadly Columbus Ohio still doesn't have an Amtrak station.
The driver can kick you off the bus if you're causing a distance or drinking. Greyhound needs competition. Their terminals are nasty and somebody always wants to fight in them.
@Fox17 Please do keep us updated about this horrible @GreyHound bus service bus situation.
