I dunno, not having a station seems to work for the China Bus. In Richmond, they would meet passengers in a parking lot. They'd take them to NY and drop them off at a side walk. They over work the drivers, then they crash the buses, people die. Then they open under a new name after filing for bankruptcy and disappearing. I watched the facade of the "bus station" change locations at least three times in 15 years.

As a former motor coach driver, it is true that drivers do get into trouble but not severe trouble if we arrive at a stop along the route assigned to late. Depending on the stop, it’s usually a 10 minute stop to check passenger tickets and load their bags under the bus . There’s also a layover , which sometimes can last up to 20 minutes or more depending on the route itself. Drivers are supposed to alert drivers a few minutes before arriving to a stop and then call it again at the stop and give a notice on how long the bus will be there before it departs . What these drivers are doing is not how I was trained for sure, its unacceptable. Yes the comparisons to planes and trains is accurate, if you miss it, you miss it that’s why they always tell you to arrive early. But still, these drivers behaviors are not excuseable. I’ve never seen such a bunch of uncivilized morons in my life.
I'm from Canada. In past years before Greyhound abandoned Canada, being able to request a stop at an otherwise not regular location was greatly appreciated. Just sayin'.
To be fare, a large percentage of passengers can be extremely rude, without cause. Your driver is not your slave, they're their to get you to your destination safely. Not put up threatening type passengers.
Most people seek to take anything else other than Greyhound. It's associated with the poor, ex-convicts, migrants, and mentally ill. Not saying that's truly reflective of their clientele, but is the perception much of the general public has. And the lack of government support is appalling. Should nationalize interstate bus service. Wouldn't be perfect, but lightyears better than Greyhound.
I booked a trip when my flight was cancelled. The bus I paid for just didn't show up, and the woman with a thick foreign accent on the phone could find no information about why. When another bus pulled up heading to a city closer to mine, I furiously booked a seat on my phone as passengers got off and lined up. Had a 5 hour layover later, but at least I made it home. If you hate the job, quit! Then there will be no available trip for us to spend our money on and plan for only to end up stranded! Nobody wins when you keep driving and strand people!
My elderly mother booked a bus trip from Pueblo to Denver to leave at 6a. She waited outside with several other passengers for hours in freezing weather . Customer service said that the bus was on time and they had no other information on the bus. The bus never arrived. She has yet to receive a refund.
Sorry but riding a bus has become the lowest level of transportation. The level of general civility of society has fallen so low that most bus passengers are just a few steps away from zombies. Those providing the service are just a few steps away from their passengers. I said what I said.
The FTA should be responsible for this. At this point it's clear Greyhound can not continue to operate as a private for-profit company, and should be nationalized under Amtrak as a public service.
Greyhound sucks. Bus caught on fire and tried to refuse us passengers another bus to continue to get where we needed to go. Also road a bus from Pittsburgh to Chicago without heat in winter time. All we got was a $25 refund.
The fact that Flixbus owns Greyhound says it all. I have taken Flixbus throughout Europe and they are HORRIBLE. They show up hours late, they try to randomly kick riders off of buses to charge cash to other potential riders. It's horrendous the stuff I saw and experienced with Flixbus
Amtrak does not own the rail networks and needs to share with the freight trains which have the right of way. The Amtrak owned lines are pretty reliable.
About a driver getting in trouble for being late isn't true at all. Back in the early 2000's I was looking to work for them because the starting pay was good. While i was there one thing that was emphasized about being late. "If you're late, stay late". We don't want you to speed to try and make up time to prevent accidents". A driver can get in trouble if he or she is early. Greyhound has a tracking system on all their buses so they know where they are at all times in real time. They even have 2way communications with the drivers.
I have called and called about the Greyhound disability seats being tied up with seatbelts. All of the disability seats are unavailable due to this craziness. I have pictures that I was going to send to Greyhound with a complaint but no one answers the phone.
I was in a accident in September 2024. The story is to long but the driver said he went into a diabetic attack crashed into a car. Before that he crashed into a curve. They didn't want to give us a new bus or driver until spoke up. The 2 bus broke down the the highway smoking we all got off. Got dropped off on the curve without information about the connecting bus. I was traumatized. Customer service bad I left my bag on the bus I was so traumatized. To much story to tell. I will never take greyhound in my life.
I took Greyhound years ago. Their bathrooms were full and dirty. People smoked, drank. Screwed on these buses. Drivers did nothing. I think it was a hard job to have. I always made my destination but, not comfortably ever!!!😂❤
When passengers are being disruptive and intimidating the drivers. being extremely disrespectful. When asked to follow simple rules that everyone else follows. There's a specific group of individuals responsible for this, and it plays out on every form of transportation.
They do not care about their passengers who also pays their paychecks. My son was left at a greyhound bus stop in Montgomery Al stated the bus he was to get on left already before he got there. Then when he got to Atlanta Ga was not allowed in station it was closed early in the morning 2:00 AMjumoed robbed best up. Then his belongings they never caught up with him was given to someone else not him. Very uncarrying company do not ride with them horrible company they need to be held liable but they get away with it over and over.
Try reaching out to the state attorney generals office. I assure you Flixbus or Greyhound will certainly respond. Encourage anyone who may have had issues with Greyhound to do the same.
First, why are people who are taking a bus complaining about condition of travel! It's not 1st class air or train travel! What is the source of their stop information! If they aren't looking at current or official sites how can Greyhound be responsible for that!
Can't believe that bus driver was blaming the riders for how harden they are, that's ridiculous. I been on grayhound hundred times since the 80s what's going on now is greed and not caring about riders. It's a joke and an imbarisment to our country. Don't use greyhound let them go out of business
I had the opposite situation when I took Amtrak and the Track was closed for a whole day with no notice. I was given a Greyhound credit and in Los Angeles station I was kicked out of Amtrak Station because I didn't have a Amtrak ticket and Greyhound was closed from 2am- 5am so I was out in the cold for 3 hours. I had a $35 ticket so I was not trying to sleep in the station like I was homeless. It makes no sense to have a Greyhound station and Amtrak Station in the same building and Yet Greyhound is closed for 3 hours and the Amtrak is open 24 hours
Fortunately my area is serviced by Jefferson Bus Lines which isn't affiliated with Greyhound. Most of their stops are at truck stops and a number of them you can buy tickets from. Every time I've had to use them their buses have almost always been on time. I seldom ride anywhere outside their coverage area.
I ride Greyhound every 3 months and was in Nashville 2 1/2 weeks ago for 2 hours of continuous screaming and threats made by 1 employee. it was extremely degrading and actually comical to most of the passengers, as the whole station was a buzz about it😳
Took greyhound flix from Pittsburgh pa to Cincinnati this summer. They sent us a bus, an hour late, with No A/C during one of the hottest periods of the summer. People complained. Driver got upset at the complaints. Came back and began PUNCHING the emergency hatch as he opened it to give us SOME kind of airflow. We arrive late to my transfer in Columbus. And no employees there waiting to any of us anything about catching transfers for a half hour. No one was manning the counter in the afternoon/early evening. Oh and AMTRAK is usually less in cost plus the comfort level is 100X better than flix greyhound. The bus charges luxury prices for a ghetto experience. We weren’t on the road for more than 30 minutes when a fight broke out on board among a specific demographic and the police had to be called. I’ve never seen such a bunch of uncivilized morons in my life.
How many young children are left abandoned all around the country?
I'm from Canada. In past years before Greyhound abandoned Canada, being able to request a stop at an otherwise not regular location was greatly appreciated. Just sayin'.
Just wait til greyhound loses money for this exact reason
Yep
Pretty sure they (Greyhound) are not rolling in the money.
A lot of drivers are rude
To be fare, a large percentage of passengers can be extremely rude, without cause. Your driver is not your slave, they're their to get you to your destination safely. Not put up threatening type passengers.
Greyhound is now owned by a West German company
Most people seek to take anything else other than Greyhound. It's associated with the poor, ex-convicts, migrants, and mentally ill. Not saying that's truly reflective of their clientele, but is the perception much of the general public has. And the lack of government support is appalling. Should nationalize interstate bus service. Wouldn't be perfect, but lightyears better than Greyhound.
You choose to travel on Greyhound buses. Not first class on a airplane. You get to travel cheaper you have to pay attention.
IF YOU MESS UP YOU ARE GOING TO GET ANGRY CUSTOMERS.. SUCK IT UP AND DO BETTER OR JUST CLOSE YOUR DOORS AND STOP TERRORIZING THE PUBLIC
i will hitchhike before i get on a greyhound bus
Great reporting !
So what's the Secretary of Transportation? Oh yeah. Nevermind
😂 He’s still breastfeeding his kids.
Great journalistic investigation skills by Ms. Miller. Kudos!!
Sounds like deflecting the blame away to the customers... Typical, real typical...
Sorry but riding a bus has become the lowest level of transportation. The level of general civility of society has fallen so low that most bus passengers are just a few steps away from zombies. Those providing the service are just a few steps away from their passengers.
I said what I said.
Zombies 😅😅😅
The FTA should be responsible for this. At this point it's clear Greyhound can not continue to operate as a private for-profit company, and should be nationalized under Amtrak as a public service.
Greyhound sucks. Bus caught on fire and tried to refuse us passengers another bus to continue to get where we needed to go. Also road a bus from Pittsburgh to Chicago without heat in winter time. All we got was a $25 refund.
All these Federal Agencies named for Passenger safety who did NOTHING must all be shut down because it is a waste of Taxpayers' money.
This has been going on with Greyhound for YEARS!
Wow.
As someone who travels greyhound I can unequivocally say this story is not complete.
For anyone.
Except greyhound.
I traveled from Richmond to Albany during the summer for a driving interview. Was left high and dry. They forgot about it
The fact that Flixbus owns Greyhound says it all. I have taken Flixbus throughout Europe and they are HORRIBLE. They show up hours late, they try to randomly kick riders off of buses to charge cash to other potential riders. It's horrendous the stuff I saw and experienced with Flixbus
Greyhound as sucked for many years.
I believe Greyhound is essential for those on a budget.
I remember when grayhound company was in Chattanooga Tennessee ❤
This company needs to be abolished.they have been doing people dirty for decades all over the country.
Sorry but if the driver says we have a 15 minute comfort stop passengers do need to be back. Trains & planes don’t wait.
You will never, ever, ever see the media reporting on complaints about Amtrak's terrible service and horrible on-time record.
Amtrak does not own the rail networks and needs to share with the freight trains which have the right of way. The Amtrak owned lines are pretty reliable.
MY WORST AMTRAK TRIP WAS FAR BETTER THAN MY BEST GREYHOUND TRIP!!
Only dozens? So it was a good week to ride greyhound then.
I was just on a Greyhound bus about three weeks ago and the driver put someone off the bus for calling Greyhound and complaining on her 😱😡
About a driver getting in trouble for being late isn't true at all.
Wow, blame the victims, their own customers, for the abandonment and abuse they received. Classy
This has been a issue since the 1980s! Greyhound needs to fix this-
A reminder, it's the bus. There is no first class section and the person next to you will have a 10 day odor about them. Enjoy the ride.
Greyhound serves the poor. If you dont care about poor people, why should they?
I have called and called about the Greyhound disability seats being tied up with seatbelts. All of the disability seats are unavailable due to this craziness. I have pictures that I was going to send to Greyhound with a complaint but no one answers the phone.
Greyhound acts like they're doing you a favor instead of treating people like PAYING CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!
I don’t know what company my brother rides with, but I hope they don’t follow Greyhound’s example.
Typical, no accountability whatsoever, and blaming it on the consumer!
People are hostile because they’re left stranded in the desert. Because the only open toilets in the station are broken into four pieces.
Try reaching out to the state attorney generals office. I assure you Flixbus or Greyhound will certainly respond. Encourage anyone who may have had issues with Greyhound to do the same.
As the driver said they have a schedule, airlines don't hold airplanes and trains don't wait for late passengers
You haven't taken the quality of service very seriously since the day you opened
Drivers getting trouble for being behind then want us to believe drivers didn't make employment decisions regarding stops
This is why I don’t ride greyhound.😮😮😮😮😮😮
It’s the case of not my problem, you do not have money so we do not care about your travels.
Hey "Ken" you don't work for that terrible company anymore, you can blow the whistle and tell the truth now! 💯
Ken? That your bf?
I have been stranded up by grayhound 4 to 5 times for hours and rebooking tickets I'm so upset with grayhound bus you don't what to expect any more
Fortunately my area is serviced by Jefferson Bus Lines which isn't affiliated with Greyhound. Most of their stops are at truck stops and a number of them you can buy tickets from. Every time I've had to use them their buses have almost always been on time. I seldom ride anywhere outside their coverage area.
How about the way they throw your luggage on the ground instead of handing it to you???
So sad to see that this company was once a Canadian Company in western Canada and a American bought it in the 40.s and look at it now
I ride Greyhound every 3 months and was in Nashville 2 1/2 weeks ago for 2 hours of continuous screaming and threats made by 1 employee. it was extremely degrading and actually comical to most of the passengers, as the whole station was a buzz about it😳
Took greyhound flix from Pittsburgh pa to Cincinnati this summer.
Only reason i even took the bus is bcuz no amtrak to Cincinnati.
