I bought Tramontina stainless from Costco and never had a problem that wasn't user-error. I like them so much, I bought more and a Tramontina cast iron.
I bought the Cusinert 5 piece frying pan set from Costco and they are outstanding! I have been cooking for over 60 years and have pieces from all the most expensive brands including lecreuset! Staub! All-clad, cast iron, and mauvial. I wanted a small frying pan to cook my eggs in and was going to buy the all clad from Costco, and one day I was in the store and saw the cusinart set. For less than the cost of one small frying pan from all-clad I could get 3 pans and two lids for less money. I bought them and they were on sale for under $50 for the set. They are amazing and cook evenly on their surface. 🎉
My dad was an engineer. He taught me to always buy the best, so you buy it once and it lasts you a lifetime. I bought an All-Clad 3D frying pan/skillet, and despite the high price, it's actually the cheapest option, as I'll never need to replace it.
I agree with that approach. At the same time, I found a budget 3-ply 12-inch amazon brand stainless fry pan that I'm really enjoying. An all-clad might be better long-term, but I don't want to pay 10 times as much at the moment...
For materials that can last forever like stainless steel, cast iron, and carbon steel, spending more isn't a bad investment. Get what you like because you'll have it for a while.
@@rickbear7249 Another factor for me, is if I buy a pan, I can no longer buy a better pan since the money spent on the first one is then wasted. And I need a really good reason why I would pay more for what might be a non essential upgrade
My Le Creuset Dutch oven is over 20 years old and I love it. More recently I got a DeBuyer carbon steel pan. It’s a beautiful tank that never quits. I bought several Made In pans. The bottom of the big stainless skillet cupped after about six uses. Now it spins around my glass cooktop. So annoyed, I replaced it with a similar All-Clad and fell in love. My experience tells me that these brands cost more because they’re worth it. At 67, these pans will outlive me.
Just got the Henckels Tri-Ply Clad Stainless Steel 12-piece Cookware Set from Costco, on sale for $144 for another week. So far so good and feel very solid. Was gonna spend the extra $ on All Clad, but wife wanted the pour spouts, measuring guide, and strainer lids; and let me tell you, it comes in very handy.
I bought the Cooks Standard multi ply pan off the jungle website, oh gosh, 10 years ago. It's still working great. A cheap place for Lodge that I've noticed is my local grocery store. They carry a few of the most popular pieces. Thanks for the reviews!
I lucked into a 12-inch aluminum non-stick Revere Ware skillet for $2.25 at a local thrift store. It was so old the logo was wearing off the bottom, yet the non-stick coating was still in perfect shape and it cooks like a charm. The 6 1/2 inch plastic handle is perfect as a longer handle would make the whole unit take up too much space on my stove top and if I want to use a fry pan in the oven I use my vintage cast iron (also from a thrift store). Thrift stores are great places to gauge brand quality and what will hold up over time. If you're an average cook, as I am, there's no need to spend a fortune on cookware. I like the silicone handle covers. I may look for a set of those.
I got my Lodge skillets at the grocery store 24 years ago; the total cost was $60 for all 4 pans. I rarely cook in anything else except the Staub Dutch Ovens. I bought those at TJ Maxx. Y'all can get a lot of the fancy cookware there at a very reasonable price.
Great video, thanks. I continue to think the tri-ply stainless steel Tramontina line is the best value on the market. I'm really into their Utsava line, which includes a series of kadai pans (two-handled saucier/wok-like pans) with lids for the most incredible prices. Everyone in my family is getting one for Christmas,. ;-)
I got a set of two Tramontina tri-ply pans at Costco (10in and 12in) for only $30 almost a year ago, and I've been very impressed. They're made in China instead of Brazil, but are still very well made. The 12in weighs 3lbs 3.3oz, and the 10in weighs 2lbs 6.6oz according to my cheap kitchen scale. Other than cosmetic scratches from metal utensils they've held up great with zero warping.
As regards absolutely poor quality of Faberware and Circulon, you are spot on! Have had great results with Tramontina* and Green Pan* (*non-stick). Thanks for the video.
Found a Stargazer cast iron at a thrift store.. I also found a Lodge someone sanded down. . Much prefer my regular Lodge that I found on the street. It’s my go to pan.

Glad you shoed a few non stich pans. I bought an OXO 10" last year after high recommendation from Americas Tedt Kitchen. It was worked well for me. Interesting that it was not mentioned.
This is very helpful information. I’m looking for reasonably priced decent quality sauce pans. Do the brands you like for skillets also have good sauce pans? Have you done a review of sauce pans that I’ve missed? If not, I’d enjoy seeing one.
The brands I mentioned also have saucepans made of the same construction. So if the fry pan performs well, almost always the saucepans and other pieces (sauté pans, stock pots, etc) perform well too.

I will second the "avoid blue diamond" advice. I had two skillets from them. They don't work any better or worse than other non-stick. Nor do they last any better even when used carefully. They were the last non-stick pans I owned, before switching completely to stainless steel and carbon steel. Never again, no more non-stick.
The henkels sets are always a good deal. Even better when they’re on sale at Costco. I think the paradigm set was on sale 2 ads ago and the stainless steel set was on sale last ad
I’ve had two carbon steel pans and two cast iron pans for years. Several years ago, I decided to gift myself an All-Clad D3 skillet. It’s pretty much the only thing I use anymore (unless I need my small non-stick Misen). The one thing that concerns me is that the All-Clad instructions explicitly say to never heat the pan above medium on your cooktop. This has made me paranoid about using the All-Clad in any high-heat situation. Did I misunderstand the instructions?
Great review, as always. Curious, I need a 12” fry pan with a cover but (let’s use All Clad D3 as an example, which is what I have), the pan bottom is way wider than my gas stovetop burner. The 10” is cramped. Does that mean skip 12?
Thank you! The advice I always give is the bottom of your pan shouldn't be more than an inch larger than the burner. If it's more than that, there's a good chance your pan will warp because the heat is so concentrated at the center. Do you have an unusually small stovetop? Usually at least one burner fits a 12-inch pan comfortably.

I love it but it's too heavy and the cooking surface is too small. I hope you do a review about saute pans (the All Clad d3 is also on sale)...in any case, I don't know what to look for regarding size to fit my burner. @@seechangenyc280 Are you saying the burner has a diameter of 8.5 inches? What are the other measurements. Keep in mind that the diameter of the bottom of the pan is much smaller than the diameter rim to rim. Most 12-inch pans have a 10-inch diameter on the bottom.

Costco currently has the Henkels Tri-ply (H3?)12 piece set on sale for $145 in warehouse and $155 on line through 11/25/24. An entire set for less than one D3. I like my cast iron, but this one has me tempted. I am curious if anyone has tried the Tramontina enameled cast iron dutch ovens that Costco has on sale for $40? They look to be Staub clones, but have white interiors, and you get two (4 quart and 6 quart) for a mere $40 in warehouse.
I own the Cuisinart pan shown in this video. I hate it. The rivets from the helper handle and the main handle are placed such that it is impossible to stir ingredients.
We love ours. Rivets aren’t a problem and no warping. The only mistake we made buying our quality set is that we should have done it a long, long time ago. This would be true for other good brands, too. Life is too short to live with junk.
sorry to post here again abit unrelated but i actually really would love your advice.. the ourplace titanium nonestick pan is currently on sale on amazon for 135 usd which is very tempting. . and i wanted to ask you.... if in your opinion the our place titanium can actually completely replace NoneStick pans? im asking because i do have hestan nanobond pans which i love and use for 99% of the times.. but for some tasks i still need and use the nonestick ones but they always burn and get brown ... and im truly wondering if the our place is actually nonestick enough to replace nonestick pans and also durability if it shows discoloration and turn brown like nonestick.. thank you !

Any cookware that has a bottom that looks like Carote I avoid. Junk. As a cookware-aholic, I'm embarking on a ceramic journey with Caraway right now. Love the heft. Great on induction. But ask me in 6 months and I'll be trying something else. LOL.
Yes, still a great option. I could have included that in this video but at $80 for the 12-inch pan, I think Ninja and Tramontina Professional are better options for non-stick pans.

@@PrudentReviews its my understanding that the coated Lodge cookware is made in Asia, the regular cast iron is made in Tennessee. I have a coated, 4.5 qt dutch oven and their "double dutch". I use them often with excellent results.
@ you’re right but Lodge recently came out with a new enameled collection called “USA Enamel”. So they have two enameled collections, the one I showed in this video is made in China. The other one is made in the US.
@@PrudentReviews oh I didn't know about this new line from lodge. I think the main critiques were that the enamel was not as thick as le creuset, and some aspects of the lid design were inferior. But overall still a huge steal, lol. For the stainless, I'm def checking out the Cuisinart pro. Sealed rims at that price!? That's wild.
We have their clad aluminum-steel set and have experienced no warping even though I’ve accidentally forgotten them empty on low gas burners several times.
When you were comparing the Ninja warrantee with the other brands, you overlooked the fact that you were comparing a guarantee (Ninja) to warranties (the other brands). They are not the same thing. Whenever a company offers a guarantee over a warrantee I would immediately be suspicious of the product. Also I have Circulon nonstick pots and pans that I have had for over 20 years and they are holding up impressively well.
Depends on retailer and sales. It’s $199 on All-Clad’s website right now but I’m seeing it for less on Williams Sonoma. Either way Henckels, Tramontina, Cuisinart, and Goldilocks are all much less.

I purchased an "Ingenio Cookware set by T-fal" back in the late 90s. Like 98ish. I almost never use them. They just sit in my cupboard collecting dust. I have only had to toss two pans of the set over the years do to denting, and not stick coatings failings. Since I almost never cook [my idea of home cooking is removing the plastic wrap from my hungry man dinner], I see no reason to upgrade. Although, I have been tempted to go to Ikea's like of cookware. However, in my case it just doesn't make sense. A rice cooker with steamer insert takes care of all my cooking needs...rice 🍚 and beans 🫘.
They make two enameled collections. Essential Enamel is made in China. USA Enamel is made in the US. The Dutch oven I showed in this video is from the Essential Enamel collection.
This channel doesn't include health in its PERFORMANCE REVIEWS. Almost no channel based around testing cookware and small appliances will. If people don't like non stick then clearly you don't care about non stick reviews.
If you remove all the nonstick material from a frying pan and eat it, you won't die, or even get sick. If you stuff it into the stomach of a tiny mouse every day for the rest of it's short life, it may cause problems. Don't let California brainwash you.

I've been seeing Tramontina in Costco recently. That's usually a good sign because their buyers are very picky.
I have a Tramontina pressure cooker. It's got a few flaws, but has held up like a champ for 12 years. They're a good company.

The Tramontina tri ply is the best bang for your buck on the market. Just make sure you get made in Brazil and not China.
Tramontina's nonstick is also available at Sam's Club branded as Member's Mark. Just make sure it's the made in Brazil version

The important bit about frying pans is that they are smooth underneat. That means they will not scratch ceramic or induction tops.

Tramontina is outstanding. In my research I found that most short order omelette cooks prefer Tramontina.

I got a legend 3-ply stainless steel set. The sauté pan got warped. They have a lifetime warrantee and so they sent me an entire new set.

No mention of Misen? 3mm thick, 5 ply, inexpensive... Checks all the boxes!
I've had firsthand experience with blue diamond frying pan, and within a a few months the non-stick wore off and I had to toss it.

Hexclad sticks and not worth owning. Silicone heats up and stays hot. Better to just use an oven mitt.

sorry to post here again abit unrelated but i actually really would love your advice.. the ourplace titanium nonestick pan is currently on sale on amazon for 135 usd which is very tempting. . and i wanted to ask you.... if in your opinion the our place titanium can actually completely replace NoneStick pans? im asking because i do have hestan nanobond pans which i love and use for 99% of the times.. but for some tasks i still need and use the nonestick ones but they always burn and get brown ... and im truly wondering if the our place is actually nonestick enough to replace nonestick pans and also durability if it shows discoloration and turn brown like nonestick.. thank you !

Any cookware that has a bottom that looks like Carote I avoid. Junk. As a cookware-aholic, I'm embarking on a ceramic journey with Caraway right now. Love the heft. Great on induction. But ask me in 6 months and I'll be trying something else. LOL.
I love my Misen cookware. Performs great but handle is “okay”. If my hands are wet or oily, it’s difficult to rotate the pan.

Yes, still a great option. I could have included that in this video but at $80 for the 12-inch pan, I think Ninja and Tramontina Professional are better options for non-stick pans.
Is there any performance difference between the enameled Lodge made in China vs. Usa ?
Great question. I'm in the process of testing them head to head and plan to put out a video with results next week or the week after. Not seeing much of a difference so far.
@@PrudentReviews its my understanding that the coated Lodge cookware is made in Asia, the regular cast iron is made in Tennessee. I have a coated, 4.5 qt dutch oven and their "double dutch". I use them often with excellent results.
@ you’re right but Lodge recently came out with a new enameled collection called “USA Enamel”. So they have two enameled collections, the one I showed in this video is made in China. The other one is made in the US.
@@PrudentReviews oh I didn't know about this new line from lodge. I think the main critiques were that the enamel was not as thick as le creuset, and some aspects of the lid design were inferior. But overall still a huge steal, lol.
For the stainless, I'm def checking out the Cuisinart pro. Sealed rims at that price!? That's wild.

We have their clad aluminum-steel set and have experienced no warping even though I’ve accidentally forgotten them empty on low gas burners several times.
When you were comparing the Ninja warrantee with the other brands, you overlooked the fact that you were comparing a guarantee (Ninja) to warranties (the other brands). They are not the same thing. Whenever a company offers a guarantee over a warrantee I would immediately be suspicious of the product. Also I have Circulon nonstick pots and pans that I have had for over 20 years and they are holding up impressively well.
It is disappointing that the dangerous metals and non stick materials are not included in the evaluation but the price / performance only.

Depends on retailer and sales. It’s $199 on All-Clad’s website right now but I’m seeing it for less on Williams Sonoma. Either way Henckels, Tramontina, Cuisinart, and Goldilocks are all much less.

I purchased an "Ingenio Cookware set by T-fal" back in the late 90s. Like 98ish. I almost never use them. They just sit in my cupboard collecting dust. I have only had to toss two pans of the set over the years do to denting, and not stick coatings failings.
Since I almost never cook [my idea of home cooking is removing the plastic wrap from my hungry man dinner], I see no reason to upgrade. Although, I have been tempted to go to Ikea's like of cookware. However, in my case it just doesn't make sense.
A rice cooker with steamer insert takes care of all my cooking needs...rice 🍚 and beans 🫘.

They make two enameled collections. Essential Enamel is made in China. USA Enamel is made in the US. The Dutch oven I showed in this video is from the Essential Enamel collection.

This channel doesn't include health in its PERFORMANCE REVIEWS. Almost no channel based around testing cookware and small appliances will. If people don't like non stick then clearly you don't care about non stick reviews.
Don’t eat it.
If you remove all the nonstick material from a frying pan and eat it, you won't die, or even get sick. If you stuff it into the stomach of a tiny mouse every day for the rest of it's short life, it may cause problems. Don't let California brainwash you.
