LIRR: A Double Ended Train 608 Makes A Station Stop At St James • 05/05/2023

got word train 608 was gonna be double ended, so i made my way to one of my favorite filming locations along the Port Jefferson Branch. this train originates in Jamaica. 500 had a mini smoke show towards the end. not a bad Friday Morning catch.!!

That driver at 0:06 clearly didn't see that the railroad crossing lights are flashing red. Uhh, they should have know that trains can speed up and come at any random time in any direction. For their safety they should've wait and the train is a little far from it, but still. Just be careful while crossing railroad crossings next time.

the lights go for about 5-7 seconds before the barriers come down. Lake, Moriches, and Mills Pond are the same way, those are the three crossings east

@@evangouldtransit nevermind. Still some cars don't have enough time to slow down. I believe that trains are required to honk their horns before crossing the road.

@@harmonysugarmaple they are required to sound Long Long Short Long at crossings, i believe it is Rule 14L. and you're right, sometimes they either can't slow down or they choose not to. the latter is true for most of the Florida accidents......

@@evangouldtransit trains always have the right-of-way over road vehicles. It's because they can't stop in time since they are heavy and that some such as freight trains are exceptionally heavy and long, and they could take around a mile for them to stop.
