It's been a hot minute since I posted on here so wanted to share this challenge video I filmed on an active Tourette's day a few weeks ago.
I hope this helps show some of the vocal challenges of bad tic days, it can get pretty chaotic to say the least, tongue twisters are nearly impossible on days like this! 😅

Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, UA-cam and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!

You’re so resilient it’s beautiful. I’m autistic and was also recently diagnosed with Tourette’s. I don’t think I’d able to be resilient if I tried to do this, I’d just give up
Evidemment tu n'abandonnes jamais... à cause de ton vocabulaire, ta façon de parler, ta façon de penser, c'est facile de voir ce qu'est une personne cultivée et intelligente, c'est une chance qu'avec les années les tics s'atténuent ou que tu apprennes à les contrôler , les docteurs ne se connaissent pas encore t'as de super beaux cheveux

You made a tongue twister right there, I had to say "true tongue twisters" about 8 times to get it right, I kept saying true trung tristers or to tongue tisters

English is not my native language so I don't know how the tongue twisters actually go, so with the pepper pickle tic I was like "Is this the tongue twister or is this a tic?" which was quite entertaining

One of my favorite things to do with my tics is to watch your videos while trying to draw while laying down I have found that my tics get worse if I’m laying down and then of course watching people with tics makes them worse and drawing triggers lots of repeated tics with my hand like I’ll be drawing a sketch and my hand will be stuck going back and forth while doing that or I’ll zoom in or out and I’ll be stuck zooming in and out for a minute before I just take my phone away

so i was wondering, why do your ticks get more active when you do challenges like this? do they get more active when ur like just reading a book or doing a presentation? is it because since your reading your brain is recognizing words and then ur ticking? when you read silently are ur ticks still active or are they more internalized? it seems very frustrating but you handle it so well in a humorous and lighthearted way
I have an interesting question! Can tics be based upon skills you haven't learned? Example: Whisteling tics although the person can't actually whistle or being able to say something in a language they're not fluent in but kinda picked on while listening to something? (I've seen people rap in videos due to tourettes although they're not rappers, that's where the question kinda comes from 😅) Ty for reading, stay strong! ❤

Since the tics are verbal, when you read in your head is it easier and more relaxing than reading outloud?
Top 90 and top 701 comments and likes. Love this channel. Your content, and that of other creators with any disability, are exactly what people need to see in order to change their mindset. The stereotypes about disabilities need to go away - this is 2023, not 1723. People have disabilities and problems and disorders and syndromes and illnesses and nobody can control any of it. It just happens.
Aside from that, I love your videos so much. I watch your videos and when I'm not saying "oh no, oh no, oh no, oh no" I'm crying from laughing - but I don't laugh in a nasty petty manner. Honest. It's just that some of the content in your videos is funny, but I also do understand - as an outsider, at least a tiny tiny bit - that it must be frustrating and annoying, etc. But some of the things-like when you almost tipped the cake batter bowl over your head, or when you meow, are funny - and yet that cake batter thing would've been absolutely awful, I know that - and the meow sound or sounds you make - its cute.
Anyway. I hope that, if you read this comment, you won't be angry or upset or anything because of what I wrote. Best to you and your family. Again, truly love your content. Great work. And sorry - as usual, I post long comments.

How do you know if you have tourettes or just something else that causes tics? I get a lot of painful head jerks with noises to go with them and then I have a rough chill movement even when Im not cold- I also feel the urge to blurt out bad words or offense/inappropriate things but Im not sure if that has anything to do with tourettes or something different
Yeah I feel so friggin horrible I'm laughing, but if I'm being honest I really only crack up when you start laughing so I feel like we're laughing together and I'm not just like laughing at you you know what I mean!!!!

I don’t have Tourette’s but I’ve heard from some people that theirs stop in their sleep and others that they don’t, so I think it depends on the person.
