IMO, Dynasty is KISS' absolute peak! Very slick & stylish stage set-up. Very futuristic. Love the Dynasty Tour & Show opener w/ the lifts, their four aura colors, the smoke & frozen poses. Even better than the '77 Love Gun stage/opening. After the Dynasty Tour it went south. IMHO, it was over after 1979.

It debuted on Nov. 10, 1979, and ran for eleven episodes through Jan. 26, 1980. The KISS Special had very high ratings.. but the other two popular episodes included Olivia Newton-John (timed around her Grease fame) and Christopher Reeve (Superman).
I have been watching and listening to the band KISS since the mid 70's if my memory is correct this footage is off of one of there VHS tapes that came out in the 90's which one escapes me but if I would take a guess it would make since if it was from KISS DVD KISSOLOGY volume 1 from 74 -79 with vintage videos and a few clips of concerts. I could be wrong on the DVD but it was shown on one of the 90's VHS/DVD's that came out but they were a great look at how KISS was and is from the behind the curtain ad not always on stage.
People bagging on kiss here. You don't realize how they were still influencing young kids into hard rock heavy metal music ,I was ten when I saw them on The Dynasty Tour.
Off topic but I’m curious to know what KISS fans think of their Samurai Son collab song with Momoiro Clover Z. I just found out that song existed and like it a lot.
It was the summer of 1979. Teenage rock fans were moving away from Kiss direction into disco. Van Halen, AC/DC...these would become huge acts within a few years, For Those About To Rock was #1 in 1981. Kiss cashed in and gained some popularity with I Was Made For Lovin' You, but concert goers weren't buying it. Kiss began losing money on the road despite the successful single. They had strayed to far from the classic Kiss show for something more glossy and poppy.
I was thinking that too, but more about the thinness of the crowd in front of the stage. I think it's more likely that we're seeing things from our modern perspective, where everybody's packed in to the venue.
This stage just never grows on me. I hated it as a 12 year old and it's never gotten any cooler over all these years. Great for a Commodores show but not KISS.

Ya not wrong dude sales were ordinary compared to previous tours but they got here to Australia not long after and we’ve welcomed them with open arms ever since
never been keen on kiss but i can see why others like them, but i think the biggest problem with them is the clothes and make up, come on guys its ment to be rock and roll not kids fancy dress. i cringe everytime i see them in their stage gear lol

It's been well documented that the Dynasty tour lost a S#$T ton of money. They had to cancel some dates due to very poor ticket sales.

I remember when Dynasty came out. That was when I was no longer a Kiss fan. Absolutely sucked. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
