i remember one of your first videos, might have been your first commentary video (?), you really have come into your own. keep growing you'll blow up more. this is good content.
Here's a tip for physical media collectors. I would recommend looking into something called clam shell or slim cases they go by different names. But its a slim case that fits on DVDs an Blu-ray an disk that size. I would recommend them just incase something goes wrong with the original case. Like for example the part that holds the disk in place breaks. Because that way you just put the disk in that slim case. Then you should be able to put it in the original case with no problem. That way the movie stays with the case it may move around inside the original case but its still protected by the slim cause. I have been getting older movies on physical media lately. Like I recently got The Fly collection from Shout/Scream Factory. Along with some other older movies from them especially some Mystery Science Theater 3000. Sets / movies for people that don't know what Mystery Science Theater 3000 is. Its a show that shows movies then ripps on them in a light hearted way. Basically they watch movies an joke about the movie an trust me. Some of the movies really deserve it because they have nothing going for it in the actual movie itself. I mainly get older movies because from what I seen from modern day Hollywood. Is the same old rinse an repeat movies made over an over again. Just change the names an location an reason then call it a movie. So they don't interest me at all I will get one if its from a independent filmmaker though. Because they do new an different things that a mainstream Hollywood writer and director would never do. Because independent filmmakers don't care about ratings bords an there is no movie studio involved. So they make their movies how they want to an tell people if you don't like it. Then go watch something else As Damien Leone said on the audio commentary for Terrifier 2016. If you don't like my movies thats fine go watch a movie. Made by someone else because there is plenty of other movies out there for you to watch. This is the attitude of Independent filmmakers.
Nice haul! You have a clear love of cinema and physical media, too. It is wonderful to see. Such a nice video and so well put together. Love the pink background used for the physical media haul, too! :)
It’s great to more people collecting Movies. I started again as well. I’m doing unboxings and DVD hunting. And The Monster Squad is one of my favorites as a teen. I have the Blu-Ray version. Let’s goo!!
Great UA-cam post with some beloved movies. I am partiular fond of Clue from past years ago. It;s great to see a younger person and others who have posted collecting great movies again. This will be the best time ever to do so in my opinion. The fact others especially younger people are collecting lifts my spirits as my broader family are very techno and think I am a silly ludite. I say back to them well what about those who kept their LP records from the sixties and seveneties in mint condition. They're now worth a fortune. Physical media. again just my opinion. is appreciated by those who appreciate the beauty of aesthetics. After all touch and sight are two out of the five senses. The artwork that goes into the Criterion DVD's in particlar is phenomenal. They know how to produce quality and stunning pacaging the only problem being they are so expensive. When they have theire half price sales it only benefits those in the U.S. Others from the rest of the world can not buy them at sale price. I don't know if Ashley or others do or not but watching the Criterion collection closet videos is a great and fun way to learn about the best movies ever. Then as I can't afford them I then go on ebay and check opshops for them. I like to get Blu-Rays where possible but what are people's opinions on 4 and 8K. Unless you're house has a very long tv room then what is the point if the human eye can not tell the difference? Is it a good move or a case of people loosing common sense. Thanks anyone who read my waffle.
Glad to find your channel, just subscribed. You have very similar taste in films to me, I own most of those releases. Still need to pick up that Dazed&C. Haven't posted any physical media videos in a long time but plan to again eventually. I'm in Texas as well.
I remember watching Dazed and Confused in college, and it was one of my favorite films that I watched while in college. I too have the Criterion Collector edition. Definitely worth the price.
Awesome pickups, Ashley! I have all these in my collection as well. You got great taste in movies. That "It Follows" release from Second Sight is such a banger. 🤘🔥
Happy to see another one of these videos. No one I know collects movies. So it's nice to see I'm not alone in collecting. Really great to see. Love your videos and seeing your lovely smile.😊 keep being amazing
Some good pick ups. I own half of these. The Monster Squad 4K, Class of 1984 Blu-ray, It Follows 4K. I love Dazed & Confused but I bought the Blu-ray Criterion about 5 years ago in the same packaging so don’t think I can double dip on that one. Ghost World I have on DVD but I have a feeling the 4K will come eventually. I plan to import Clue at some point, fun film. I’ve not seen The Doom Generation, that looks interesting. Lords of Dog Town is good too. I was an aggressive inline skater in the 90s so I’m quite in touch with the culture. Good times 😎. I recommend Skate Kitchen, and Mid 90s.
I just watched The Monster Squad for the first time a few nights ago and I loved it. Vinegar Syndrome sales replacement 4K cases if you want to replace your Clue case.
Been getting into 4k the last 6 months or so myself. I'm not huge into horror but I'd definetely be interested in checking out the Slumber Party Massacres and I absolutely would love to get Clue on 4k. I almost got it when Best Buy was still carrying stuff but I chose something else. To be honest, I forgot what it was. My favorite 4ks that I have are: The Truman Show, Road House, Fatal Attraction, The Thing and Point Break. Not only are all of those nearly flawless movies in my opinion but the transfers and presentations of those movies look utterly fantastic. I don't even have the best 4k set up and I'm absolutely blown away. Nice video!
Such amazing picks! Was pumped to see Doom Generation on your list and hear the love for Nowhere too (that one's my fave also). I'm proud to say the Monster Squad Doc Wolfman's Got Nard's had its world premiere at the Film Festival I run the Chattanooga Film Festival.
Yeah I LOVE Nowhere, got to see the new 4k restoration in theaters back in November! It's beautiful and I can't wait for its physical media release :) And that is so awesome, it's a really enjoyable documentary!
Also i forgot to say ive not heard of most of these films so thank you for the recommendations. Will definitely check these out. Also not sure if youre into action films but eli roths last film death wish with bruce willis is quite a fun film if youre looking for something different from his filmography
First time watching your channel . The algae rhythm bought me here. Very professional . Are you sure you are not a time traveller from the 90’s .😄some of those films you picked up were new releases for me back in the day and were on rotate . I’m showing my age .. that Doom Generation soundtrack was always on … I’m so glad the younger generation are discovering these movies . Keep up the good work
I really love these physical media videos you’ve started doing. The Monster Squad 4k is one i definitely plan on getting. I was gonna ask if your next reaction can be I Still Know What You Did Last Summer? That & the 1st film are also now on 4k, in case you didn’t know. They look great from i’ve seen.
Thank you! And for my next reaction/review I plan to do Pearl, but I can totally cover ISKWYDLS after that! And I need to get my hands on those 4ks asap!
I still need to pick up Monster Squad on 4k. I don’t think kino has the slip anymore. I totally agree about original artwork. Clue is great too. Anything Tim Curry. I got Rose to sign my Doom Generation poster last year.
Curious what about Ghost World you liked? Did you relate to it? I read the graphic novel leading up to a job interview I had with Fantagraphics, the publisher of the book, and I didn't like the characters or story at all. Felt like it could have been fleshed out more, and tbh I just found the main character annoying and cruel.
Criterion has been doing some shady things with its catalog lately, introducing stealth edits of classics erase "inconvenient" scenes. Sometimes it's necessary to get original copies off Ebay or the like rather than buying from Criterion.
I'm curious if you buy used media much, or no? I just got in a few really expensive/used stuff in a few days ago. I gotta pick up the Doom Generation soon also.
Other than VHS tapes, I don't really buy used blu-rays or 4ks but I do still love physical media hunting and seeing what my local Half Price Books has just in case I get lucky and find something used that's really cool! I once found a used Doom Generation DVD there but it was like $60... 😬
@@AshleyPatricia Ah, there are several good used media stores by me, so that's primarily where I go. I just picked up The Norm Show DVD, Spin City (complete) on DVD, and a huge Dark Shadows complete box set, in the shape of a coffin, lol
@@AshleyPatricia Keep it small, A good collection should be about preservation of your favorites, and staples in Cinema. So many people buy just to buy and the collection becomes hoarding shitty movies. Good titles!
Your passion for the films really comes through in this video, and I loved that. Much better than the typical haul video.
That Monster Squad release is a mandatory must buy.
Love Dazed and Confused! Especially that criterion edition.
It Follows is such a banger and even the sound design is something really different. Wish I could find the 4k version.

Great to see another great collector 😄😀
Love the content and it is asmr adjacent with the chillness. 😊
The IT FOLLOWS release from Second Sight is incredible. Their stuff always feels premium.
Yeah their releases are BEAUTIFUL.
I've heard bad things about both releases of Frontier(s) and Picnic at Hanging Rock. Not sure what is up with those...?

Totally agree, THANKSGIVING is the best from Eli. Very nice pick ups. 😍
I got my 4K of Dazed and Confused in the mail yesterday and was in awe of the design… and now ur talking about it lol
Nice!
As a huge physical media collector, I enjoy seeing what others get and hope to really push my collection into the center of my channel. Great grabs!

I don't collect Physical anymore but I still enjoy watching haul videos. 👍
Thanks for the video. It was fun and reminded me of movies that I have forgotten about.
I absolutely love The Monster Squad! I myself just got one of my cult favorites, Attack of the Killer Tomatoes!

Thanks! Well I was born in 1995, the same year the Doom Generation came out, so technically I am from the '90s?
Great video!

I finally watched Thanksgiving thinking it was a different movie. It was Pilgrims. That movie is just Fd up.
