Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and Reform School Girls are two of my all-time favorites. Nice pick-ups!

It's weird but having old commercials recorded from TV onto VHS has some monetary value because people want them to upload to UA-cam.
Also, one of my favorite things I own is my grandfather recorded "Strange Invaders" (1983) onto a blank tape for me almost 40 years ago. I highly recommend that movie. It's a bit of a hidden gem that no one talks about.
Great collection, btw. Love those Taxi Driver & Stand by Me especially!

Performing a spool swap on your Halloween VHS tape is next level! Very impressive. Definitely looking forward to your upcoming video about movies recorded from television. Those commercials are just the best!
It’s hard to pick favorites but I really like the cover art of Mission Impossible (1996) directed by Brian De Palma. It’s got a silhouette of Tom Cruise above a European skyline on the front. The reverse side features stills from some of the best moments from the film. I distinctly remember abusing the play/pause button on my remote as a kid trying to go frame by frame through those amazing action sequences to get a closer look at the special effects. Good times.

I was super nervous about doing the spool swap and possibly ruining the actual film but was so relieved when it came out successful 😅
And oh yeah the cover to Mission Impossible is actually pretty cool! I always used to think 90s/00s action films had some of the least interesting covers but I actually like that one a lot.

That autographed SCREAM tape is awesome! Definitely give BODY DOUBLE a watch when you can, it's a great showcase for De Palma's direction.

Great video! I have Howard The Duck on VHS and recently got it on 4K. Still keeping the tape tho, happy to have it, eventhough the movie hasn't aged well. lol

that's dope, curious, im guessing you use a CRT TV to watch these? if so you have a vhs/tv combo?

I was going to ask what collectors use to watch these old vhs films. I have a bunch from childhood but they don’t look and sound as good on newer tv’s as they do on the old tube tv’s. Does anybody know why this is? I have contemplated getting an old tube tv just to re-capture that same feel.

@@deargabby74I have two televisions I watch my tapes on. One is a Samsung TV/VCR combo and the other is an old Zenith that I have hooked up to a Zenith VCR. Both televisions are fairly small. I wouldn't ever recommend watching VHS on a flat screen or big modern TV, it just isn't the same!

@@AshleyPatriciaAhhh, good to know. I just might have to re-purchase one of those combos. Thanks for sharing. 😀 📼

Cool collection, Ashley! I would happily display my VHS tapes on my shelves if I had kept them after upgrading my collection to newer formats, especially those with awesome cover artwork that for some inexplicable reason studios never used again.
I now regret getting rid of my tapes because I kept them in excellent condition with a few exceptions like the cover for Batman '89. That cover deteriorated quickly because I loved that movie as a kid and I would take the tape out frequently. Speaking of which, I remember that particular tape beginning with an animated commercial featuring Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck shilling some 1-900 number. 😂 I hope somebody uploaded it here because I'm immediately going to search for it once I send this comment!
    Edit: found it!
