It may be used only for quick and rough background buildings as context, but it lacks the option to input dimensions like heel heights at top of wall and tail depth, which are necessary for construction documents. As an architect, I like to know exactly how the roof relates to the building, which I do by drawing out a profile and use the follow me tool. Thanks, Keep up the good work!
Very cool extension. One thing I'd like to see in extensions for creating roofs is a way to control the heel height. From an Architect's point of view, there are two reasons why the heel height is important, The first is too create the correctly scaled trim package including a Frieze board, and possibly an architrave, in relation to the window trim below. The second reason is to allow for additional roof/ceiling insulation depth without being squished down by the roof edge. This is important energy conservation detail.
You get a fair amount more control with the instant roof extension from Vali Architects - ua-cam.com/video/bj62ZDZe5M4/v-deo.html - Not sure if it does exactly what you're looking for, but definitely more control - it is a paid extension though...
Instant Roof will make eaves facia too thick based on pitch, that's my one major gripe. Southern framing is stick frame 95% of the builds in residential, so just bobbing the tails to make eaves and rakes match is standard practice. No idea on energy heel height in Vali's setup. I will say, watch the eaves facia if you use it, you often need to "fix" that--but I may be missing skill on a parameter, of which it has several to dial in a custom roof quite nicely otherwise. You're dead on: when an 8/12's cornice work wants to eclipse the 8' door/window headers, but the builder wants to cut down masonry over windows etc, having an accurate but quick read is nice. I've just manually set some things so far, but Vali is very handy and has several options other quick roof tools lack. You may really enjoy it.
Thanks for some great how-to on a great extension. I've used Instant Roof by Vali, but can't beat TIG for some special apps and cut up roofs. That intersecting gable hack at about 9:50 is super handy--I had no idea it did that! Great tip.

did u know plugin for check poligon which part is heavy in sketchup? because my vray cant render my file (230mb) and i hope with reduce some part hope it will work
Does this plugin allow you to create dormers? Does it create openings in the roofs for the dormers and merge a dormer roof geometry with the face of the main roof that the dormer is attached to? Also for the walls of the dormer, does it merge that wall geometry with the vaulted ceiling that is under the main roof?
it was not possible to make a single pitch hipped roof from this face. sometimes the face/edge relationships get muddled in the model's database. try re-making the original face: - delete it and redraw over one edge to remake it. or copy the face to one side, delete the original and move the copy back. this methods can often make a face 'roof'. if not, then try sub-dividing the face into pieces and joining their roofs manually. note that some face shapes can never be roofed with a single pitch. e.g. crooked stars. exiting..." When i try ROOF the face i got this error. And I haven't solve this error.

In the Gable Roof Settings, there is opportunity to specify the Roof Slope in degrees, in ratio (A:B), or by height (inches). I've tried setting the height, but I get all kinds of strange results. How can you use the height if you want to specify a roof that reaches up only so high?
After four years of saving a lot of time, I rerun some of this videos. There is always some trick I missed. And sure enough, right at 10_02 you click here, and you click here, and you magically gets a new gabled roof to match up with a hipped roof. Is that still possible, or did you use witchcraft? No matter how many times I tried, I can not get that intersection. I end up with two different roofs and I need to manually intersect.@@Thesketchupessentials

You can use it for that but it doesn't have a specific dormer function

Not 100% sure - maybe instant roof by Vali Architects? Not sure if that one does it or not
