Hi all, I'm back with another video. Hope you all had a great holiday season! Jean Negulesco, who the previous year, directed "How To Marry A Millionaire" and would go on to direct another "three girls searching for love" film, "The Best Of Everything", brought this lush romantic story of three American secretaries in Rome looking for "Mr. Right". By tossing coins into the famed Trevi fountain, each hopes they will find him. Unfortunately, none of the roads they take run smooth. Newly arrived Maria Williams (the tragic Maggie McNamara), becomes interested in playboy Prince Dino di Cessi (the ever-suave Louis Jourdan), but feels that deception is the only way to win his heart; Anita Hutchins (the svelte Jean Peters) becomes involved with aspiring lawyer and translator Georgio Bianchi (Rossanno Brazzi), but when Maria inadvertently lets it slip to their boss that the two are involved, Anita is fired for violating the company rule about dating coworkers; and Miss Frances (the always warm Dorothy McGuire), has long had a seeming unrequited love for the writer for whom she works, John Frederick Shadwell (a miscast Clifton Webb). Will the promise of Italy and the legend of the Trevi fountain work its magic for the couples?
The title song, performed in the opening sequence by Frank Sinatra, was also a big hit for The Four Aces.

Beautiful!
Trip down memory lane..lovely song and movie!
The cast is fabulous with two very handsome leading men. Every time I watch this movie, I remember my trip to Italy and the thrill of being in Rome. One day, I was walking through the city and found myself at Trevi Fountain...I threw in my coins. While there I met a handsome Italian and spent my last few days there in his company. A wonderful dinner in the country, a walk by the Adriatic sea, and finding him at my hotel the morning I left to kiss me good-bye. It doesn't get any better than this. I often wonder, 33 years later, where Gianni Agate is? You gave me memories for a lifetime. Ti Amo.
Beautiful memories to treasure for a lifetime!!
I have not seen this movie in ages! Thanks so much for this enchanting tribute.
WOW! Thanks for the video!
Love this movie! When Clifton Webs character proposes I always cry. 💗
This was a great film! Oh, if only Roman Holiday was filmed in color! But, at least we have Three Coins!
In this beautiful song, Frank Sinatra creates instantly a DREAMY, ROMANTIC MOOD which reflects the slower pace of life back then in the mid 1950s. In Rome at that time, there were no graffiti on public buildings, no hordes of tourists and no African peddlers selling cheap wares. The movie shows Rome in all its splendor at that time.
the previous year, 'roman holiday' was filmed there.
as did 'roman holiday' even if it was in black & white.
Superb loved and enjoyed
Well put together tribute to this enjoyable movie. Well chosen cast, spectacular views of Italy and Frank Sinatra singing the title song make this movie!
I love Louis Jordan. The way he says, "not at all" as if it's all one word. Notatall! Notatall! I love it!
Very fine actor. My mom loved him in this wonderful film we enjoyed together.
I had forgtotten this one theme of the film of the same name. I saw the movie when my Father took me to the Cinema to watch it. It is nice to hear it again and remember after all these years about sixrty in fact. But love is eternal and never goes out of date.
just beautiful.....
Classic
the beautiful jean peters said that she preferred films that were not glamorous, like 'anne of the indies', 'lure of the widerness', 'apache', 'niagara', & 'pickup on south street', for me her best roles.
R.I.P. Louis Jourdan! :/
Sweet Maggie McNamara you won't be forgotten.
sweet rosemary hennesey you are not forgotten.
One of my top 20 movie favorites...Sadly the only one still with us is Louis Jourdan.
Thank you!
Back in 1970 The plane made a stop at the Rome airport ,on the way to Istanbul and I never saw much of Rome. Simpler times when this movie was made.
Those were some great shots of the Trevi fountain! Seeing this again, there's no doubt that Krasner deserved the Oscar for Best Cinematography, Color. This cast has wonderful chemistry together, bringing life to Patrick's book. I really like that you edited it to a Sinatra song, Colleen. Thanks for sharing.
¡Hermosa y romántica canción!... 👥⚕️👥
Three coins in the fountain,
each one seeking happiness.
Thrown by three hopeful lovers,
which one will the fountain bless?
Three hearts in the fountain,
each heart longing for its home.
There they lie in the fountain
somewhere in the heart of Rome.
Which one will the fountain bless?
Which one will the fountain bless?
Three coins in the fountain,
through the ripples how they shine.
Just one wish will be granted,
one heart will wear a valentine.
Make it mine!
Make it mine!
Make it mine!
Gracias.
great movie "wish they would make some great movies now something fun ".......
BELEZA... LINDA VOZ. BELA CANÇÃO..
Beautiful montage. Loved the girls in it -specially Jean Peters. Wow, aht a gorgeous looking girl!
+Andy Bueno Howard Hughes thought so, too! Married to him for 14 years. She made an American movie called "A Man Called Peter" about the Rev.Peter Marshall, who was the Chaplain of the Senate during WWII. She was quite a different character as the wife of a minister!! She was a beautiful woman...and a magnificent actress.
saw the movie in london, england 1954. nowfor the moment have mental fuzzies. ah, the memories.
Dommage que ce film ne passe pas sur youtube c est un enchantement ainsi que la musique et la chanson Merci MUIRMAIDEN essaies de trouver ce film encore merci ......
The story of Shadwell and Francés is so adorable! I whish doctor Martinelli calls this same morning and says he was wrong!
see you in heaven, ms peters.
Wow. It seems like only yesterday.
I love Dorothy McGuire and she is constantly in my dreams ; I’m sure we are kindred spirits.
We have a few films to remember her by. So sad how her life ended.
Always like that one. Thanks Muirmaiden! It was a shame that Maggie McNamara's career got short circuited. Dorothy McGuire through the 50's was cast as an "older woman" despite her youth. And the stunning Jean Peters quit the movies in the mid fifties, probably at the behest of the increasingly bizarre Howard Hughes.
FLINSTONES, MEET THE FLINTSTONES, TEHYRE THE MODERN STONE AGE FAMILY
If you really think about it the Flintstones are an apocalyptic family.
louis jordan & jean peters appeared together in, 'anne of the indies.'
Где посмотреть весь фильм?
How to watch three coins in the fountainm
I have it on DVD so I can watch it anytime!
3 soldi nella fontana.
i preferred jean peters when she was getting down & dirty, like in 'anne of the indies', 'niagara', 'lure of the wilderness', 'apache' & 'pickup on south street.' - she would have been very good in 'calamity jane.'
