    INEOS have supplied further information so there will be a Part 4 to this series after all. Will publish first to UA-cam channel members and Patreons, then public.

    When will the repair manuals be out. I live many hours away from a repair center and will not buy until we have repair manuals.

    These are all great questions. I drove this car I wanna buy this car but the problem is I’m scared of this car because of the steering and some electrical issues. I really want to buy it but it’s just hesitant on that

    • @L2SFBC
      @L2SFBC  Місяць тому +2

      I would not, not buy it on the basis of either. The steering is not that of a BMW X5, but it's far more than adequate, ignore the naysayers. Problem is everyone is used to modern SUV steering and that's the new standard. Electrical - the dual battery is pretty hopeless, I'd actually not bother with it and just put the money into a proper aftermarket kit with a lithium and a DC-DC. Similarly I wouldn't bother with the factory bullbar, there's aftermarket now which takes a standard lowmount. This is what happens when you do tick-the-box accessory engineering, OEMs never seem to learn.

      @@L2SFBC Steering - some of the early adopters did definitely have faulty steering and issues with the setup as it left the factory (just how did steering wheels up to 10 degrees off straight pass final QA?) and the return to centre characteristics are far from ideal.
      Dual battery - on paper it's got some great features. The issue is I don't think Ineos have anyone in house who fully understands it, or at least is willing to come out of the shadows and explain it in full to owners.

  • @stevegreen101
    @stevegreen101 Місяць тому +2

    Robert - what did you take from the complete absence of response to the dual battery setup? Was there a misunderstanding of the line of questioning, language difficulties, or what?

      I take it that he did not know the answer. Wait for part 4 which is a post interview follow up.

      @@L2SFBCI look forward to it👍
      Although, I was a little confused with the parallel or series comment; in series would be a 24 volt arrangement.
      I don't think they can be described as parallel either, as they're not used together. The Smartpass is actually a battery separator but serves to link them under certain conditions such as charging and when the starter battery on its own is unable to start the engine.
      It would also give a smarter separate ability to power a fridge if Ineos hadn't unilaterally removed that function.😤

    • @L2SFBC
      @L2SFBC  Місяць тому

      yes that was my mistake, I was trying to describe what they had which was difficult. Should have said non-isolated. I thought they were parallel...there you go, I didn't know that's how Smartpass was used. Your comment has supplied more information than what was in the interview :-)

      @@L2SFBCUnlike you I only have to get across one manufacturer's model and luckily Ineos left the CTEK Smartpass retail box and manual in the vehicle on collection & CTEK customer services actually have technical staff providing decent answers.
      I've also taken a leaf out of your book and used a Victron Smartshunt to try and measure/record what goes on.

      Great! I would like at some point to have someone knowledgable talk through the INEOS battery system. Clearly that's not going to be anyone on the INEOS payroll, so a good sparky would be fine. I feel there is a knowledge gap for the system which INEOS do not appreciate, and the walk-through would be generally interesting to any 4x4 owner as we could cover smart alternators, DC-DCs, isolation strategies, lithium/AGM etc.

      The questions were also supplied in advance of the interview and I pretty much stuck to the list provided. I chose engineering conceptual questions, not "take me through the spanners required to pull the winch off the front for maintenance", similarly for my Justin interview I tried to focus the questions for his job responsibility.

      @QuiltedQuiver Місяць тому

      He is probably referring to GCWR which is the max combined weight of the vehicle and trailer being towed. English is not his primary language so his intent was probably lost in translation.

      @QuiltedQuiver yes he means 7t GCM or train weight which is correct.
