Please adopt me. I promise to be quiet and do my chores as long as I get be an apprentice, ride your bikes every once in a while and inherit of course should the time come. Hahaha brilliant as always.
Fun Fact in germany some (insert curse) got the patent for hard 50/50 powdercoats so you aren't allowed to have them anymore. Have to be fading now...in some builds fades look really bad though, but most of the time I like em more (sadly, even before the patent fading them is way more expensive, or it's just the dude where I live is a massive twat he wants 700€ PER RIM)
Hey Chops, i just ordered my new RSV4 RF - so pumped man. And btw, i give you props for making me change my mind from an R1 (meh). Aprilia needs to start tipping you xD. My first liter sports bike - can it get more awesome than this...
you have to put the rear wheel in from the top lay the wheel over at 45 degrees and feed it down then straighten it up. Yes took me ages to work that out.
Damn ... Looking sweet That was what I was going to do before I got the 701, but the cost to convert an EXEC 500 worked out much more (plus the extra servicing needed on the motor) than the 701
Chopsy, remember I have the 690 with the NOVA gearbox? I fancy building one of these but my hands and fingers turned to sausages riding my Husky 510. How does this 500 vibrate?
It's a good idea because you go a lot faster on the street or track than offroad, you don't absolutely need to change the calipers if you're on a budget but getting larger diameter brake discs and a spacer to move the original caliper to the right place is a good idea
Hi I noticed that on your 701 you put a gear indicator on. I have just bought a 2019 KTM690 SMC. Looking to put a gear indicator on. Did you find the 701 easy to fit one on?
I recently bought a 2019 350 EXC-F with the intent of doing some offroad rides with some friends. I also have a 2018 MT-09 as a road bike. Do you think the 350 has what's needed to become a nice SM? Or does it lack the grunt for road use? I'm trying to define a plan B if I end up getting bored with the offroad rides. 😇 Cheers from Portugal
Have you converted your 350 yet ?? I did my 21 FE350 to a SM with a Vortex ECU and slip on FMF and it lacked the power for the road (for me) I traded it for a 22 FE501 and it's night and day better. I got the Vortex ECU remapped and the FMF swapped right over. Hope this helps🙂
I have a dumb question maybe but how much clearance is there between a front tire and a fork slider? Like, can the tire hit a fork slider if the fork compresses?
those are upsidedown front forks are those tyres going to clear the top section when the forks compress ? or was it just the camera angle dont want u binning it first go
I have the money to get one and sumo convert it.. only problem is.. I can't be asked with the service scheme 😂 is it worth it anyways? I feel like I drive more than 100 hours per week.. and considering the 100hr piston change.. well :/
100 hours is being overly cautious mate. There's dudes nowadays putting 160 hours on their 2 stroke enduro's and when they open her up, the piston is still way within spec. Alot of the 500 guys dont change their piston and rings until 200 hours or more
A cush drive is just rubber bushings in the rear hub. They sit in between the sprocket carrier and the main hub body and help to dampen the power pulses of the engine making for a smoother ride on high traction surfaces like bitumen roads.
Hi, what size are the wheels, width? Looking to buy some for my ktm 450 exc. is it defo worth having the Cush drive? Just got back from SM pro, had a cheeky half day so thought I’d pop down and have a look. Almost brought the wheels but can’t decide on width 🙄
Hi James, mine are 5" rear with the cush drive. I would get the cush drive its really transformed how the bike rides on the road, its so smooth now. I think thats the biggest transformation because of the cush drive. I was worried about chain rub with the 5" but mine has loads of clearance
Hey chop ! I'm looking to order a ktm 990 smt Rottweiler kit.. it isn't letting me ship to Ireland where I'm from .. is there another distributor that I can get Rottweiler kits from ? And do you have any discount codes?! :) supermoto looks sick already mate
Go with the 17" if you ride on public roads. Going with the 16,5" will severely limit your tyre choice to competition (thus non-legal) tyres only. Enjoy the ride!
Lcr can you try and review the 300 smoker this year if your going to be borrowing more ktm machines I'm wanting to do a superior build with either the 500 or the 300 and I'm really drawn to the smoker as it's only slightly less powerfull but lighter so if you review one it would help make my mind up before February when I can make a decision
Yes I will borrow one this autumn for some green lanning action. I'm interested to see how it compares to the 500. Only reason I went 4 stroke is more torque for wheelies and engine braking to help save flipping it!
Question from across the pond? Lol . Dan from N.J. Anyway , I Have a KTM 450 XC-G that I plan on converting. My question is, Since the build Whould you do anything differently 🤔? & Any helpful tips for this project would be greatly appreciated. Thnx Daniel M. 🐾
Yes HP is about the same, 500 down on torque. Also depends which 701 you mean, my 2016 dynoed with power commander and filter at 59 HP. 500 has more revs and its stronger at the top of the rev range, 701 has more lowdown torque.
What fender is that?? Ive been trying to find a sumo fender for my 450 that doesnt need modification. Also, do yourself a favor and get the vortex ecu. Kind of expensive, but its the best 600 bucks you'll spend on that bike.
I have a '06 450 smr and a converted '17 690. Roomie has a converted '17 500 exc and '17 690. Without suspension work it's going to suck on the street. Scary amount of front end drive, under any kind of braking. And the 500 does NOT have the same power as a 690. Horsepower may be close but leagues away on torque. My crappy old 450 eats them all when using it as a hooligan or track weapon. 690 is way more maintenance friendly and far superior factory suspension for street riding than the 500. However when we get offroad the 500 pulls ahead by leaps and bounds.
The suspension seems ok on the street appart from when you need to stop quickly, your right too much dive at the front. I will get the suspension revalved over the winter.
Sweet as Chops. Taking shape nicely. Did you take into consideration the (way) smaller rear wheel when choosing your gearing? Check out www.gearingcommander.com if not. 👍
Hang on, I've had to stop the video. Your building a supermoto and your putting a cush drive on it? Are you high? It's a supermoto, balls to the wall throttle on! None of this cush drive shit 😂😂 I'l finish watching now 😉
Beautiful build(h) man! Really good flow with the edit! Can't wait to see more! :)
Thanks very much matey, really appreciated and thanks for the tip with the build
Bloody marvellous, I was looking at doing exactly the same to the exact same bike. Cheers for the upload Chops
No problem matey, happy to help :-)
Now you need to learn to put a hand-rearbrake on it and learn how to do sick circlewheelies and stoppies!
Please adopt me. I promise to be quiet and do my chores as long as I get be an apprentice, ride your bikes every once in a while and inherit of course should the time come. Hahaha brilliant as always.
haha, your welcome, you will have to sleep in the garage though
Nice! However, how are you going to be able to back to dirt with that big front brake? Is this now a sumo only bike?
Got the same setup, 2 sets of wheels, spacer out when swapping back to dirt...
Oh really you keep the caliper and just remove the spacer.. interesting
I will use it for dirt but too new and shinny currently 😂
Just in time for dinner! love watching your channel mate.
Thanks Harry!!
i usually don't like 50/50 colour wheels but the orange fading into the black looks great
Fun Fact in germany some (insert curse) got the patent for hard 50/50 powdercoats so you aren't allowed to have them anymore. My first liter sports bike - can it get more awesome than this...
Lucky man amazing bike!! Enjoy her :-)
Thanks Chops. I hope maintenance costs won't strangle me too much *fingers crossed*.
Sat on the floor surrounded by supermoto parts. Literally the dream.
Swing arm guards Chopster!!! NEEEED!!! Great vid brother. Love your safety footwear.... 🤣
Thanks Vinnie, yeah thinking about the swinging arm covers, not decided yet
Um did you just replace brembo brakes with some off brand one’s!?
Absolutely hilarious Chopster! Roll on episode two.
you have to put the rear wheel in from the top lay the wheel over at 45 degrees and feed it down then straighten it up. Yes took me ages to work that out.
That could be the best piece of advice Ive ever had!! Will try it out cheers
well well well Chops the 500 exc sm shes looking good and coming along nicely now I bet you can't wait to go out for a bloody good thrashing.
Thanks matey, oh Ive been out and its super fun :-)
Doth my cap to your expertise, great vlog as always
Damn ... Looking sweet
That was what I was going to do before I got the 701, but the cost to convert an EXEC 500 worked out much more (plus the extra servicing needed on the motor) than the 701
It's not that different to the 701 to ride matey, can feel it's lighter and wheelies easier but has that same feel
Chopsy, remember I have the 690 with the NOVA gearbox? I fancy building one of these but my hands and fingers turned to sausages riding my Husky 510. How does this 500 vibrate?
what grease and loctite did you use ?
Are those steel toe flip-flops? 😂
Great vid Sir 👍.
Enjoy the bike!! 😎🏍
Oh yes sure are, safety first! :-)
Lamb Chop Rides
Bob the Builder 😂😂😂
Chops get yourself some fork shrink protection for those wp’s. Well worth it, also the black swing arm guards will make it look much better 🏍👍
Yes been thinking about those bits
whats the top speed with super moto wheels and whats the seat height
“Good God Chop, Flip flops and Super Moto work!” And your background music...bike is cool though
Carry on!
Schveddy5. Good luck2U
hahaha, those bloopers at the end.. quality! XD
Why do you got to change the brakes I thought it was just tires and rims
he just wanted to, you should anyway
It's a good idea because you go a lot faster on the street or track than offroad, you don't absolutely need to change the calipers if you're on a budget but getting larger diameter brake discs and a spacer to move the original caliper to the right place is a good idea

The GSX-R is purring 😂😁😄😂😁😄😂😁😄
interesting to see the price of this project, can't wait to see it on the road
Ooo, noiceeee :-) A proper supermoto build indeedy! :-)
great vids, I really like the awesome scenery.
52" rear sprocket eh, what a beast lol
haha, is that what I said? haha
🤣
Jazz hands + flip flops + angle grinder = Supermoto
haha had me in stitches with that comment sir, love it :-)
hahaha :D TRUTH :D
I have a dumb question maybe but how much clearance is there between a front tire and a fork slider? Like, can the tire hit a fork slider if the fork compresses?
if I am making one for the road do I still need new brakes and everything?
You don't have too, cheaper way of doing it is just the disk and space the stock caliper. It's certainly not essential for road riding
those are upsidedown front forks are those tyres going to clear the top section when the forks compress ? or was it just the camera angle dont want u binning it first go
It's fine plenty of clearance, the fork guards have to be trimmed to make room though
Yet another superb video. When is part 2?
Couple of weeks Paul have to edit it first!
Hey dude, don't suppose you remember where you got the front mudguard from ? cheers
That garage is about the same size as mine! Can opener needed.
Yes three bikes in there and not much space!
apparently no need for cush drive on new ktm's because they have one built in the clutch
ashruffm08 hmm... better to be safe and have cush. Can destroy the output shaft otherwise
Until you install a slipper clutch...then not so much
Great job 👍 Beautiful bike🔥
Where is part 2 I can’t find it?
I have the money to get one and sumo convert it.. only problem is.. I can't be asked with the service scheme 😂 is it worth it anyways? I feel like I drive more than 100 hours per week.. and considering the 100hr piston change.. well :/

What's the rim width on those new wheels and how much where they with the tire??
Would love to seem a comparison between the ktm and ur old husky!
Those wheels are fire. Did you have to contact SMPRO or was this one of their options for the half and half
No its an option off the shelf to order
What about a Suter Slipper Clutch that Husquverna uses in the new FS-450 SuperMoto? Whats a cush drive?
A cush drive is just rubber bushings in the rear hub. They sit in between the sprocket carrier and the main hub body and help to dampen the power pulses of the engine making for a smoother ride on high traction surfaces like bitumen roads.
Yes what he said :-)
Wish I had the room in my garage for 1, my garage is even smaller than yours. Pit bike SM might be my only option haha
SM pit bike would be cool, can race it then also!!
Do they sell TM Racing bikes in the UK? Road legal supermotos.
Here’s the million dollar question I have a 2013 super Moto rims from Alpina will it fit a new 2020 Exc 500
Hi, what size are the wheels, width? Looking to buy some for my ktm 450 exc. is it defo worth having the Cush drive? Just got back from SM pro, had a cheeky half day so thought I’d pop down and have a look. Almost brought the wheels but can’t decide on width 🙄

And I have to force myself to do basic maintenance like lubing the chain lol
Where did you get your mechanic experience from for working on bikes and did you get your new sprocket from 44 Teeth ? 😆
Just by playing with stuff Thomas, no formal training just a garage tinkerer
don't forget to change your wheel size on the speedo 😉
Yes... better crack my manual remind myself how you do it!
Hey chop ! I'm looking to order a ktm 990 smt Rottweiler kit.. it isn't letting me ship to Ireland where I'm from .. is there another distributor that I can get Rottweiler kits from ? And do you have any discount codes?! :) supermoto looks sick already mate
You could try Superduke carnage see if they can help
@@LambChopRides I will give them a try too thanks :)
What size wheels did you go for 16" or 17"? As I've got the same bike but a 350 and I love what you did
Go with the 17" if you ride on public roads. Going with the 16,5" will severely limit your tyre choice to competition (thus non-legal) tyres only. Enjoy the ride!
can i come sit on the SDR and make broom broom noises plz
Lcr can you try and review the 300 smoker this year if your going to be borrowing more ktm machines I'm wanting to do a superior build with either the 500 or the 300 and I'm really drawn to the smoker as it's only slightly less powerfull but lighter so if you review one it would help make my mind up before February when I can make a decision

Tav what size rear wheel / tyre combo do you run ?
Lamb Chop Rides awesome I can't wait to see the review and also how the build comes along
Is your ktm exc 500 sound like motocross or louder or what?
Chush drives are to protect the gearbox/clutch not to give a smooth ride.
what size of rims and tires, you used ????
So basically just tires and an enduro?
Total how much cost?
No suspension upgrades? Interesting.
The suspension seems fine on the road apart from dive under braking, I will get suspension revalved over the winter for more road use.
What tyres did you use?
Oh,that will be very hard to unscrew with that loctite, good luck.
this dude seems to LOVE loctite lmao he was basically bathing those bolts in it... hahah
You also should change the suspension setup.
Yeah will get the suspension revalved probably later on
So funny .love all your videos.great stuff .Danny gsxr 1000k8 .cb1000r
Thanks Daniel
This guy use baby wipes to clean his bike
LMFAO
I love the bigger KTMs. Miss the 525.
MtnMoto my 525 was stolen still miss it
😡 Hate thieves! Sadly the 525EXCs around me have all been beat to death and their owneres are convinced they're still worth a mint.
MtnMoto yes same here. I have a 500exc now but took me 4 years to find a mint one.
Question from across the pond? Lol .
Dan from N.J.
Anyway , I Have a KTM 450 XC-G that I plan on converting. My question is, Since the build Whould you do anything differently 🤔?
& Any helpful tips for this project would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx
Daniel M. 🐾
does it really have the same hp as the 701?
Luciano Augusto Lol Never. The 500 has around 60hp the 701 has 75hp.
Yes HP is about the same, 500 down on torque. Also depends which 701 you mean, my 2016 dynoed with power commander and filter at 59 HP. 500 has more revs and its stronger at the top of the rev range, 701 has more lowdown torque.
You can get 60whp out of the 500 no problem
Shes gona look beautiful!!
Waiting on episode 2 lol
Safety flip flops
I hope KTM watches this
Beard needs to be more orange and white....
haha, thats a great idea!
Those wheels looks sexy as hell :)
What fender is that?? Ive been trying to find a sumo fender for my 450 that doesnt need modification. Also, do yourself a favor and get the vortex ecu. Kind of expensive, but its the best 600 bucks you'll spend on that bike.
The fender is from the husky 450 SM, thanks for the Vortex recommendation been looking at them already.. Will check it out further 👍
wow nice bike

No but was recommended the hearing by others so should be OK. .
Nice bike like bldhs
Sickk
You left out suspension! Supermotos are lower and stiffer. You’ll need to have custom valving done as well.
Its not necessary.
nice to be back in the shed. your bbc test card F is spooky what happened to the girl
she ate too much LOL
Love this GSX-R1000
all u need is lot of money...
yep
Hope you don’t drop anything on your toes chops😂
Why is Lamb Chop wearing flip flops in the garage, does he think he's at the beach ? 🤣
Its summer I live in m flip flops :-)
Also a shit load of MONEY
Yes not cheap building a top spec SM
Looking good. BTW, you drink too much Diet Coke. :-D
haha, now you know why Im so hyper in the vid hehe
Don’t worry I’m a professional with flip flops
sexy bike oh yeh
Them rims so sexy ya a baby yaaa
