    For everyone thinking 16k is a lot for this bike.. well it's is but to put it a different way. me and hundreds of thousands of other loved this series and he must have gained thousands of subs from this series alone so in my eyes I think it was worth it for him BTW keep up the good work

    • @rustylock3124
      @rustylock3124 8 років тому +2

      +BrettRidez of course he didn't but would he make 16k back on the bike? I doubt it. all I'm saying is that the publicity from the build has brought thousands of new subs which will probably earn him lots more than he paid in the long run... read my comment

      Can get much better Sumos for less, this project is like 90% Looks and aesthethics and the rest is actual tech for the bike. No slipper clutch no auto Stifter nothing

    the biggest reason i think why it doesn't start first kick is because you're kicking it too slow. you gotta slam on that thing to get it to start first kick. mine is a 250 and i have to kick harder, so for a 450 you gotta use those bodybuilder legs :P

    • @VelcuzOldChannel
      @VelcuzOldChannel 8 років тому

      Ye u have to kick a 450 with pure force

    • @Borgschulze
      @Borgschulze 8 років тому +8

      That's been bugging the shit out of me, big muscly Motonosity, can't even give that kicker any authority.
      Should just push on the kicker till it's just a hair past TDC, then reset it to the top and give it a good hard kick, and it should start every time.
      My WR450 starts very easily, but I also used to own a Husaberg FS550... which is not the easiest bike to kick, left kicker...

    • @Belicose777
      @Belicose777 8 років тому +2

      It's never about massive force. It's about technique. It helps. Anyone with decent leg strength can kick a 450 over. Just have to lean forward so you can kick the starter more efficiently. It's leverage man.

    • @hooviedoovie5220
      @hooviedoovie5220 8 років тому

      Belicose777 my point was speed not necessarily force. the engine has to spin up and it's easier for it to do so the faster you kick it moto right now is relying on a lucky fire from the engine that gets it running but it would take less kicks to just kick it faster.

    • @Belicose777
      @Belicose777 8 років тому

      This is true. However a nice kick from top dead center after it's been primed 1 or 2 times always helps and usually does the trick. It's usually one kick for me.

    I lost an expensive phone to x mount. Had tips glued, but wasn't using the net. A tire tread flipped up at night out of nowhere and just knocked it out. Switched to quad. Not saying ram is trash but things can happen.
    Some great mods man, gives me lots of ideas for mine.

    Wow you got some cash in that bike! Awesome build bro there's no bike out there you can have more fun on then a Supermoto ! Dude trust me you need to put on a dual Yoshimura exhaust on it it will set it off the weight difference will have no factor on your bike! Especially on a Supermoto it will make the bike look beefier in my opinion it's a no-brainer must do that's the number one reason I want a Honda CRF 450 R Supermoto just so I can get the Yoshimura dual exhaust it looks so dope with the carbon fibre tips OMG that Single FMF looks so weak on it you got the bike decked out with the best parts and you're missing the one major component of that bike you need to pull the trigger dude!

    Good job brother! I enjoyed the build series very much minus all the nagging nimrods whining about how long it was taking. I am a technical school trained mechanic and understand what it takes to pull this off. You did a great job and it is a shining example of what can be achieved when you put your mind to it even if you are not a professional mechanic. Congrats bro! She is a beauty!

    I've read some comments and I agree with the guys saying do a budget build. This series was amazing but do something like a yz250f and do the whole thing bike+mods for under 10k or even less. That could be insanely cool. This Cadillac build was awesome but show us a beater build!

  • @JonathanHollidayfit
    @JonathanHollidayfit 8 років тому +1

    This has been a phenomenal build series! I would love to see a video where you compile a list that would be focused on a build that has the bike and only the necessities coming in under $10k. Not a budget build per say, it would still be a quality supermoto that wouldn't be sketchy, but not on the high end either. Just a thought and keep up the great content!

    Make sure you put a 1.9 bar high pressure radiator cap on it. It won't boil over nearly as easy/fast. Also check into a trail tech radiator fan for a 450X. I did both for mine. I rigged a switch for the fan when caught in traffic or idling waiting to go out on the track for STT days.

    Great looking bike, enjoyed the build series as well. Since I know very little about supermotos and if this is a stupid question I apologize, I watched a review on a couple of KTM's, the 500 something and 690 enduro r, and was wondering if you looked at those as a possibility vs the Honda, again, sorry if this apples to oranges, just seems like the KTM's have a lot of technology and power going for them and are a set of wheels and tires away from being a supermoto, or was it just to make your own, which a totally legit reason IMO. Again thanks for the series, love the channel too!

    this is a sweet bike, i wish i had the checkbook to mod my bikes like this. not really my style tho, I'm all about practicality with a splurge here and again. not hating on this bike ONE BIT, but some of these mods I've found to be more of a headache than they are worth when sometimes the stock equivalent is usually just fine. but once again different strokes for different folks

      Completely agree. I would have installed an electric start instead of many of those farkles. Then use the kick start only when your battery takes a nap. When it's upper 90s or triple digits on a hot summer's day, you'll want an electric start, especially if you stall your bike in traffic.

    1. What was that stand you used to hold up the bike?

    Being completely honest, for me at least a SM with a normal front number plate and not a actual light on the front looks really bad. KTM's looks amazing and Yamahas is pretty good too.
    Also Motonosity, Akrapovic makes the lightest and best exhaust for KTM, Husqvarna, and Beta dirtbikes. I do know Akrapovic makes exhausts for Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha, and Suzuki dirtbikes, but I think FMF is a bit better for the Japanese dirtbikes.
    I still prefer Akrapovic.

  • @mannydcbianco
    @mannydcbianco 8 років тому

    Hey motonosity, quick question for ya: I know you like the clean look (I am the same - ripped all junk and stickers and whatnot off my supermoto the same day I bought it), so have you considered "debranding" the FMF muffler? Basically simply removing the FMF stickers, that is.
    Reason I'm asking is two-fold: 1) I getting a FMF Q4 for my bike soon and I want to know how difficult/easy it is to remove, and 2) I think the FMF sticker on the muffler is kinda hideous, lol. Don't like the colors, even though the muffler is almost entirely hidden behind plastics on your bike.

The only thing i was waiting for you to fix and you didn't was the crank cover opposite the boyesen clutch cover looks all scratched. You should totally mask it off and polish it or paint it. All in all an awesome build series. I can't wait to see the next build series where I personally think you should turn a Grom into a cafe racer, or make a ruckus a 250cc chopper.

    Why doesn't your speedo work right? Is it set to 1890mm circumference?

    Even If the bike is not worth the $16k+ spent in the end, you still put out some awesome videos. Overall I think it was worth it, build more stuff!

    The whole thing looks completely sick, great show. I'm buying some of the parts you put on because of the vids. Question, what is the RPM at 60 with the sprocket set up?

    How about a piece of clear hose for the kickstarter. That way it will still be red:)

    I saw my local farmer rip on a honda 450 about 10 years ago and I just spotted it hiding in the back of his garage few days ago. Wonder if I can get a good deal on it!

    My zx10r has barely required anything but the simplest maintenance. So do supermotos cost more in maintenance and time consumption compared to something like my 04 zx10r?

    Loved the build series and obviously it's had a huge impact for you. The bike looks awesome. I'll be curious to see if you do suspension tuning and how it changes the street feel of the bike.
    That being said, why are all the supermoto motovloggers always squidding it up. Jacket? Proper boots and pants? I'd rather sweat than bleed. Take a look a BeRad, he had on decent boots and still lost an entire riding season to an injury. If he had on sneakers I can't imagine how bad it would be. End of dad mode rant.

      +Balki Bartoukmous I measure the risk of the type of riding I'll be doing when I head and and make my decision.
