On This Island Nature Is Left Alone

  • In this episode I am going to one of my favourite locations for wildlife photography.
Vorsø is a protected Island in Denmark, and for almost 100 years this little paradise has not been regulated by humans in any way.
I have been photographing badgers on this island for several years now, and even though I have got many great photos on this locations, I always leave the island with new photos in mind and situations I did not manage to capture.
February is not a good month to photograph badgers since they are only active when it is dark, but that is not the purpose of this trip.
I am here to gather information and to prepare for this spring's photography and hopefully to learn a bit more about the badgers at this time of the year.
    Enjoy watching.
    See you out there...

I love your badger studies, in fact I own a couple of your badger prints from this little island, but I am also pleased to see you are still doing your macro photography. The snowdrop is my favourite flower, it appears to tell nature it can wake up now and start to get ready for Spring. Another wonderful film, Morten, thank you. 🥰

It was at the 16 minute mark that I was drawn in to the film. It was like I was right there, connecting with nature. It's all about the long periods of quiet that have a calming effect, a technique that many a modern filmmaker have forgotten. I admire your persistence with photography even during the cold, barren winter months. It's winter here in New Zealand right now, and I have a day off tomorrow. I'll be waking up early tomorrow morning to venture out to take some photos too.

Hi Morten! Hope you're having fun diving with sea turtles. :) Currently watching a moose and a roe deer stag (? male with antlers) outside my window. Well, the moose got too close, so the roe deer ran away. So now the moose is nibbling on some left-over hay, that I threw out from my guinea pigs. Currently home at my mothers' "farm". We had -32 celsius last night. Still very much winter in Finnmark. Correction: There are two moose, I'm guessing mother and daughter. The baby moose is a bit small and skinny for this time of year, but hopefully it will make it through the winter. I saw them all yesterday as well. The roe deer is a regular visiter here in the winter.

Thanks for another great video, Morten! I hope you got lucky with the badgers and managed some nice stills. I was thinking actually that you manage to create such high quality stories and content that it'd be great if one day you might consider making a video or two about how you make your videos - both from a story telling perspective and also a technical perspective with the cameras etc. It'd certainly benefit and be of help to people like me who are just starting out with a wildlife UA-cam channel. I know I'm biased because I wrote this - but I really do think a lot of people would be really interested to see those videos. Thanks for all the great stuff you have made for us to watch and I'm looking forward to the next one 🙂
