  • Johana got pregnant at the young age of 14. After constant fighting with her mom, she went and lived with another couple. The guy tried to pimp her out on the streets as a sex worker. Johanna left. Her son is now with her mom. Johana lives in a tent on the side of the 101 Freeway.
    The 101 Hollywood Freeway is the 2nd busiest freeway in Los Angeles. It carries more than 125,000 cars daily. As homelessness grows, It is now common to see tents alongside California freeways and often on overpasses. Homeless encampments are everywhere. There are real people in those tents you see as you drive by. All of them need our help to get off the streets into housing.
    Johana and her boyfriend have lived in this area for two years. Johana told me she had been homeless for five years. They survive by recycling. In fact, Johana shared they have started an official recycling nonprofit. I asked her to email me more information.
    As soon as Johanna emails me back with her Cashapp or GoFundMe, I will post it here. I have emailed her a few times, but she has not responded. It could be a lot of things. Mostly, survival comes first, and access to the internet can be challenging.
    UPDATE: Here's Johana's cashapp : $HoneyyDidIt and her PayPal www.paypal.com...

    About Invisible People
    There is a direct correlation between what the general public perceives about homelessness and how it affects policy change. Most people blame homelessness on the person experiencing it instead of the increasing shortage of affordable housing, lack of employment, childhood trauma, lack of a living wage, or the countless reasons that put a person at risk. This lack of understanding creates a dangerous cycle of misperception that leads to the inability to effectively address the root causes of homelessness.
    We imagine a world where everyone has a place to call home. Each day, we work to fight homelessness by giving it a face while educating individuals about the systemic issues that contribute to its existence. Through storytelling, education, news, and activism, we are changing the narrative on homelessness.
    This isn’t just talk. Each year, our groundbreaking educational content reaches more than a billion people across the globe. Our real and unfiltered stories of homelessness shatter stereotypes, demand attention and deliver a call-to-action that is being answered by governments, major brands, nonprofit organizations, and everyday citizens just like you.
    However, there is more work to be done on the road ahead. Homelessness is undoubtedly one of our biggest societal issues today and will only continue to grow if we don’t take action now.
    Invisible People is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to educating the public about homelessness through innovative storytelling, news, and advocacy. Since our launch in 2008, Invisible People has become a pioneer and trusted resource for inspiring action and raising awareness in support of advocacy, policy change and thoughtful dialogue around poverty in North America and the United Kingdom.

We called the ACLU they came in and their lawyers filed an injuction on our behalf. The supreme court ruled on our behalf which means the state has to post a 2 week notice before disbanding any camp on state property. The ACLU WILL HELP.

    The last thing the authorities want is homeless people setting up productive businesses and stable communities. It undermines their authority and makes it harder to criminalise them. So they always focus their efforts of moving on, breaking up and traumatising on those people who are creating something good outside traditional society.

      We are nomads. We will never live conventionally again. Not at today’s prices. We have found a cheaper way to survive. I get harassed all the time by young cops, because I am free and they are still slaves to the system. They hate that.

      Sooo They basically dont want people who are less fortunate to build themselves up. They dont want them to be on their level to have power or have any capabilities.. they want to keep them at their lowest levels at possible & not progressing …. 😐

    • @WhichDoctor1
      @WhichDoctor1 2 роки тому +13

      @@shineymcshine5026 Not so much that they don't want people to succeed at all, but they don't want people succeeding outside the current system. If you don't own land or owe money to someone who does, and you don't have an address for the government to pin you down to then what influence does the government have over you? Other than direct physical violence. You are an irritant, something that doesn't fit and can't easily be controlled. And they don't want to have to deal with that. They definitely don't want you building something successful outside those levers of control. Cause if you start to thrive outside the current system then other people might start getting the idea that the current system isn't the only way to live. And that will only lead to more irritants being created, which is just the last thing they want. So they use the only means of control they have, the aforementioned physical violence, to make it as unpleasant as possible to be outside the system so that only those with no other choice end up there. It's not some grand conspiracy, there's no grand plan handed down to local city governments and police departments, it's just a result of how the system currently works and how it influences how the people within it think.

    • @WhichDoctor1
      @WhichDoctor1 2 роки тому +2

      @@amandawright5773 Dude! There's nothing new about it. This is how settled societies have always treated transient people right back through history. You don't need to go looking for conspiracies. This is just people within systems who benefit from those systems looking out for their own self-interests. I understand the impulse to go looking for "the big bad organisation behind it all" because it's much easier to believe that some specific people have made specific decisions and come to an agreement and that's why things are happening the way they are. It's much scarier to open your eyes and start to see that most of the stuff that happens in this world is out of literally anyone's control. The idea that even the most powerful people on the planet have only the most marginal control over anything in the face of socioeconomic forces that span continents and centuries is a daunting one. But failing to accept it means you are fooled into thinking that if the people in control are changed then everything will change. But the people at the top of our current system are just as much a part of the system as your city planner or the police chief in your local neighbourhood. In theory, the super-rich and top politicians could change stuff, but the only reason they got to where they are is because they are the kinds of people who wouldn't and once they are their it's no longer in their own self-interest to try. If you change the people at the top the system will just carry on as usual. It doesn't care who's in charge, it's not conscious, it's just the totality of millions of smaller systems, that are themselves formed by even more local systems, that are formed out of uncountable individual human interactions. It just keeps on rolling on and anyone who is slotted into it will be moulded to fit, kicked out or broken. We have to start changing the system from the ground up and changing what shape it moulds people into. Only then will any real long lasting effects be made

      I've seen this entire video 20 years now, and these comments still here have to be propaganda. When we take people in our own home and treat them as a real human being, not less than our own family . It's not our comments that are bad, it's the "1 sided-ness" in & around our spirits like can you give up your work? No, so you're 1 paycheck from being on the streets. If anyone has a falling down it's harder for them to just become fast employed. A good job 1st is a better start than a burger & fries place to sustain / maintain / just pay rent with that type of job, it won't work. We live in a high class run top tier looking down to the lower class, as they aren't "REAL HUMAN BEINGS". I'm proof of that. Just live in my shoes I rent and cannot take 1 person in or I'd do that for 3 people more but people with bigger more roomy homes are scared off so more houses have to be created fast ! Replies are encouraged. Let's start rebuilding little homes quickly someone has the right way but we can all do this in a group if we all use the correct resources. USDA rural housing if you have a car is gov't funded. Even the water is funded as long as it meets requirements. YEs even water, a well, septic, and drainage maybe. As long as it's got to do with water. @@easilyoffended7772

    I live up in San Francisco and there is constant discourse about "the homeless issue". Most people who are not facing it themselves don't realize or don't want to hear that there is no available housing for most of these folks. Period. SRO (single room occupancy) hotels, most of which have horrible living conditions, are often charging $1000-1200 per month up here now. That doesn't include anything but the room and toilet down the hall, often shared by everyone on the floor. Food is not included, or a phone, or toothpaste, tampons, etc. Receiving $377/month in general assistance, or even $700 or $800 a month on SSI/disability, doesn't even pay for an SRO room. There are not the services that people want to think that there is. It is also next to impossible to "get a job" without stable housing, daily meals and a shower, clean clothes, etc.

      13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
      14 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
      15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
      16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

      You're correct, most shelters are just terrible,and don't lead to housing either ! Political corruption 40 years ago started the homeless crisis as it's known today. I'm old enough to remember when there was no homelessness, because there was an abundance of rentals,and they were cheap. Plus buying a place was so much easier too. Since 1980, both rental and property laws have changed, to work against the consumer. The Powell Memo of 1971, gives the blueprint for this horrible dystopia 10 years before it kicked in. Nothing short of a massive building campaign, to catch up with all the millions who have arrived, or been born, since 1980 can work,as there's such a small amount of housing in ratio to renters and owners. I would have LOVED to be an adult in the 50's and 60's, when moving into adulthood didn't cost an arm and a leg,unlike now.

I checked the IRS site for her EIN and the existence of her stated non-profit "Recycling Junkies" (along with any possible name variations). There is no such non-profit, or even a pending request - under her name, or anyone else's. Having done extensive humanitarian work over the past almost 20 years, people unfortunately claim non-profit status to get money as "donations", as people think they can then write it off as a tax deduction, as she falsely claimed to have an EIN and 501(c)(3) status. When the "donor" files their tax returns, they end up getting audited for a false, or erroneous, filing. Unfortunately people just need know a couple of buzzwords (like EIN and 501(c)(3)) and to look a gullible person in the eye for this scam to work. I saw it a lot after Hurricane Katrina and numerous other large-scale disasters. (This scheme is as common as people claiming they're veterans, when they're not.)
      Feel free to give money if you choose, but it's not a donation to a non-profit without IRS validation, in this case, or any other.
      In the end, I believe she should work to take of getting herself sorted out and on solid ground, in order to be in a healthy spot to help others in the long-term, if that's truly her goal. I wish Johana the best.

So they swing back to storing people in shelters indefinitely,as a way to " clear the encampments." Had housing been built during all the time people were pouring into the country,and being born, you wouldn't even HAVE these encampments !! May God Bless you Johana and even tho I could only give a few dollars myself I will on the first. I'm disabled after working 33 yrs. I lost everything to Hurricane Harvey in Texas and got no help at all, ended up homeless in the Nevada Desert for a year after that until I could get back to my home state. A long story so won't go into that here. But like Johana said everyone has a story and for the most part people are looked down on when they are on the streets. Well I know for a fact there are a lot of very good, honest people out there that are treated very bad. If people just took the time to get to know them they would see the good in them. It seems people always say I can't afford to help, well let me tell you that's not true. I'm disabled now after working 33 yrs, raised my kids by myself as a single father, had a good life till I lost everything to a Hurricane. Can't afford to live a good life myself now BUT you can be sure that come the first of the month I will send a few dollars to this girl. I always tried to help people when I was better off and even now when I myself could use help but never get it, I still try my best to help where I can. And I believe anyone can help others if they truly want to. It doesn't take money to have a good heart, just like this girl you can see it in her eyes she just wants people to be happy and loved. I hope no one takes offense to anything I said here, I just spoke what I'm feeling after watching this video. So please if everyone seeing this could send Johana or anyone in need just a couple dollars, together we can change the lives of many for the better. Johana had the chance here to ask for help but instead when asked if she had three wishes what would they be. She only asked for others to be happy. That is coming from someone with a heart of gold.

    This will never end in California......too many people earn big bucks "caring for the homeless".... So it's not in their interest to solve this. Grosvenor too interested in his rich friends and political ambitions. This young woman has a warrior heart

      It is very difficult to get a job when you have no permanent address. She has no access to showers,work clothing ECT.
      She clearly has a number of personal issues but getting a job in her situation is next to impossible. Even with a job her life would be extremely challenging.

    She does seem like a lovely person, but has her priorities/sense of responsibility is mixed up. It sounds like she is choosing not to get a job to support her child and not to go to a shelter with her son because she doesn't want to be kept inside? What message is she sending to him?

    All the money for the homeless in CALI is sucked up by the ridiculous bureaucracy before it gets to the streets. That is incompetence and corruption. $2.75 billion was allocated for homeless housing. Where is it going?

    I've seen so many videos in the past of homeless and non homeless friends trying to help each other, and the government always intervenes. Do people not have the right to mutually associate and help in this country any more?
    World peace sounds nice, but I know people that desire control, power and conflict. Both wealthy and poor.

    The main problem with shelters is the staff. Staff personal working shelters need a 4 year degree in Psychophysiology. High School educated people are not compassionate enough, because they didn''t have the necessary training. Also shelters are over crowded, because they are paid by city, so much per person housed. Shelter manager and owners of shelters are more interested in making money, than they interested in the well being of their homeless clients.

Too many are hurtful and disown kids at 18..often they didn't want them.. and misuse words like respect when they don't know what it means themselves

    You are seeing it in California. It's in Pennsylvania, Chicago, Detroit, St.Louis, and all over the Midwest. And it's below freezing now. Soon it will be in the teens, and below 0 at night. The shelters are full, and with another round of covid coming it will be even worse if they close them again. This young lady is right, I hear a lot that the shelter are loaded with drugs, dates happening all over, and even abuse of many types. The ones that are in programs are actually not wanting to go in because they dont want to be around the drugs. The Midwest and east coast are having murders happen every night. Rapes go unreported. Down in Arizona and Texas they are seriously short on the connecting of people to be informed about the resources that may be available. The system is damaged and in the need of a good over haul. Don't need to reinvent the wheel just work on the issues and smooth out some bumps. But anyway just imagine being out in 6 degree weather with a foot of snow on the ground and 20 mph wind. I personally don't like to go to the store in weather like that and they live in it. I guess all we can do is help if you can, hope / pray if you have the heart, and treat others the way you want to be treated. Don't judge.
