- An animated poem set in the Magical Land of Riigo-Faloo about the old elven tale of a woman and her story with the Pumpkins Three.
Made entirely within the space of just one week for the brickfilming contest BRAWL (Brickfilm Rapidly All Week Long)
Camera: Nikon D31000
FPS: 15
Editing: Adobe Premiere Elements 1.0
Microphone: Blue Snowball.
This is part of the Riigo-Faloo storyline which I have been DEVELOPING for some time. Riigo-Faloo can also be seen in my other films Sharks and Clowns ( • Sharks and Clowns ) and The Lost Invention ( • The Lost Invention ).
This story is set over 700 years before the events of Sharks and Clowns in the First Imperial Era. However, the story is not necessarily an actual event in Faloovian history, but a popular story. There are many tales about the Pumpkins three, but no one is sure if they were actually true or not.
This specific poem was written by an elven bard over a century after the events supposedly transpired. It remains a popular sort of fairytale in all Faloo.
Hidden someplace in this video is a ninja, a Slenderman, and a barrel of parrots.
Can you find them?
(The Slenderman is actually hidden twice)
The Poem:
Once upon a time in Faloo
In times before the Rule of Two
In that place you’d know as Korange
There we lived with faces orange
We are called the Pumpkins Three
We grant you wishes for a fee
Just come to us with your desire
We are the best in the empire
They came to us from here to there
but there’s one tale we’d like to share
A she-elf came to us one day
She had come from far away
She came to Korange with hair of orange
She dressed in red a maid unwed
But something there did look amiss
A something one could not dismiss
She looked quite wrong and out of place
For the maiden here had not a face
‘Twas there and then the elf in red
Beseeched us to restore her head
She wanted eyes so she could see
A mouth as well to taste her tea
But her lips she most did miss
For faceless elves can never kiss
We said we would grant her request
But first she should go on a quest
It is our notion to brew up a potion
So we three said to the she-elf in red
We thought to mix her a mighty elixir
For things that are tragic are fixed up by magic
So said we, the Pumpkins Three
But before this potion’s enveloped
We implore it must be developed
In the dungeon known as Pilver
trolls have left some Tears of Silver
fight the beast and bring them here
For we do need one silver tear
But don’t forget we need your fee
For what we do is not for free
You will go to find Keep Gurple
There you’ll find a Potion Purple
It will suffice to pay your price
We spoke our asks, she went to tasks
She fought a troll and paid her toll
Then she came here with items two
We mixed a tear into our brew
Our potion done, for that we knew
Equal to none but save a few
We cut a hole for her to drink
A grisly toll we all did think
There was a flash of brilliant light
It shined at us so blindingly bright
There was a glare and it cleared
But then and there her face appeared
It was a scare all burnt and seared
She saw she was hideous and looked quite insidious
Her face was quite horrible, ‘twas greatly deplorable
Until then we’d omitted how she’d been troll-witted
She once had a face that one could admire
But that then did change in her brush with fire
She came to us to forget her face
Better none than one out of place
Develop we can when errors we make
Better’s a man who’s learned from mistake
The lesson here of our little vinjet:
Mem’ry is dear, so please don’t forget
(In Riigo-Faloo, vignette is spelled vinjet)
Creepy awesome.
I want to learn more lessons from the Pumpkins Three.
+MinilifeTV Me too guys!
MinilifeTV I have an idea for a series on my channel, tell me if it a good idea
It has 4 gamers, 2 boys, 1 girl and a skeleton and they have a magic gaming console and whenever they play a game they get sucked into it and haft to play the game in real life and at the end of the day they come back out
good idea?
Iconicsquare1 that’s an incredible idea
This is a masterpiece, everything about it is incredible. I hope there is more to come.
TheMrluckylemon There is nothing new for the Magical Land of Riigo-Faloo coming soon, but I am doing some stuff on a great big project called Welcome to Darkmoor, which is similarly dark, and has a scene with some more of my poetry in it.It's going to take a while, though.
I'll wait eagerly for it
Annoying Noises Productions when do you plan to put it up?
leo john Bell Welcome To Darkmoor will come on the 10th of october this year (2019)
@@itsme-jj7zk Actually, I'm currently set to release Welcome to Darkmoor on Tuesday, October 1st. So it's even sooner!
A teaser trailer will be released tomorrow.
The lighting was really impressive in this! Great work, Harrison.
Walter Benson Hopefully waiting for all of those long exposure pictures was worth it.
I love the rhyming. Great cinematography, lighting, and voice-acting as well. Fantastic job!
Have you been playing Skyrim? Never mind that, this was very well done! I am suprised though you don't have more subscribers. Your quality is better than a lot of the more famous animators, and you sir, are very clever in all your ideas. In fact now that I think about it, that is why I am subscribed, your cleverness.
Man coming back after a couple years and out of a ten year old mind this is a beautiful poem
I have just realized I haven't liked this video! I'm mortified! I watched this video originally, like, maybe 5 years ago!
To clarify, this is one my favorite brickfilms out there...
To this day I still question why it hasn’t reached a million views, this is a masterpiece of poetry and a great brick film.
Awesome! I've been keeping up with you on flickr, and this totally exceeded expectations (which is saying something)! I like how you managed to make LEGO creepy while still maintaining your signature film style and LEGO's playful atmosphere. The rhyme and rhythm adds tremendously to the effect of a storybook type tale. Stupendous work!
This thing is like a trance! You watch and listen, and when it's over you want to play it again!
Congrats! You've been nominated 3 out of 3 stop motionists! The best animationist will be announced at the Lego Awards 2014 August 31!
I can't wait to see your upcoming work, Squid! You're definately one of the best Brick Filmers I've ever seen!
That was the best animations I've seen in a long time but its quite unsettling.
I'm in the under 301+ club again yay!
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OK NOW THIS IS JUST EPIC. gr8 storytelling, lighting, voice acting, sound design, animation, everything. I'm sending this to all my friends :D
Gabriel Clifft Thank you.
Very good job! The animation was very smooth, and the lighting was very appropriate for this type of animation, and added a very good aspect of "mystery" to the entire film. Great job again!
You. Are. AMAZING! I love how wacky and creative and funny all of your videos are!!
So impressive! This is such a lovely film; wonderful scenes that just keeps coming and coming!
I really enjoyed this video I've watched it at least 3 times over. Everything about it pleases me.
You are totally my favorite brickfilmer, I love your videos. Keep it up :)
Another great film by you Squid. I love your poetic storytelling technique.
Nice! Really well made. I especially loved your use of different lights to add color and atmosphere.
Wow, i can really see the work that u put into the animation and the script .Great job!
How did you get the potions to light up
linkinpop13 I have a tiny LED bulb on wires I can fit into tiny little things For most of the potion shots I had just had the potions atop things with holes in them as so I could shine the light from underneath. But it was a little more tricky for the cauldron. Here on Flickr I've explained in a little more detail if you are interested: flic.kr/p/owma96
Annoying Noises Productions
ok thanks
Your animation work is superb as always, you are one of the masters of brickfilm camera movement. Had a bit of a hard time understanding the narration, you seemed to be rushing some of the lines. Really enjoyed it!
RedOnyxProductions Yeah, I need to work on that. Gonna practice a lot for the poem in Welcome to Darkmoor, I won't have to worry about time constraints.
Your stop motions are so good! I'm surprised you don't have more subs and views! If only stop motions were more popular.
Man, that was amazing! Only your channel has ever offered Brickfilms so unique and inspiring.
the set design and lighting were superb. really nice job
Superb Stopmotion film, super smooth animation, lighting was great, I have subscribed, great work 👍😀👍
Wow. By far the best Brickfilm I've seen in a while. Everything about it is phenomenal, well done! I look forward to seeing whatever you cook up next. Keep up the excellent work!
AMAZING! I love how the entire video is narrated with a poem! Brilliant!
This is incredible good! I really liked the dark set design and story. Very well written and pictured! Your best Brickfilm so far!
I love the lighting effects in this!
This animation is great, with careful details, funny and a little creepy.
That was amazing! Your brick films never cease to entertain me, you can always think of something new. I found the ninja :) and Slenderman flashes at the end. Great job!
One of the things I've wondered is why the she-elf didn't ask the Pumpkins Three to heal her face when it was burned
That was EPIC! Great job! I love the rhyming xD
Really liked this! Can't wait for Darkmoor as well!
Wow! That was incredible :O I think it was one of the best ever poems ever written! I loved it so much and the lighting was just perfect :D
absolutely amazing !!
your animations are fabulous
i love them, please make more!!!
the poem is great and the animation is top
Well done
yikes, scary in a way but very clever and some of the best brickfilming I've seen! Fantastic!
I love your videos! Everything you make is amazing! :D
Amazing! Truly phenomenal! This is surely going to win.
Incredible, and so thrilling!
Amazing.... Wow. Just spectacular.
I think it would be great if you did a general lighting guide on your second channel. I really love your style by the way.
Awesome! Creepy, original, and super cool.
Another wonderful video. This one inspired me quite a lot might even have to make my own fable type brick film. It is a very under-utilized format don't you think Squid? Also thank you for explaining how you did the motion blur in "Leprechauns in France," that was most helpful.
This is amazing such Outstanding animation!!!
Awesome video! I'm still trying to come up with my own little fictional world for a book I've been wanting to write.
Great video. I really liked it and wish to see more in the future :-)
You would make an amazing author
Just discovered your channel and asked myself how can only fews thousands views can be possible, while others have millions ? :-( Nice text and ambiance, really.
Love it better than any story from riigo faloo. How do you do the lighting in the bricks
PaceStudios All that's done is I simply shine a light through them. For the vat of orange potion in the middle of the room I have an iPhone underneath. I built the floor specifically as so an iPhone could be easily slid under there. Though it is a little dim comparatively, so I had to use a one second exposure to get it as bright as it is.The cauldron of glowing potion, however, was a little more tricky. I had a little LED bulb stuck into a trans acid green small cylinder in the bottom of the pot. I then covered that with studs and moved them about every frame for a bubbling effect. The bulb had to have wires leading to it to power it though, and they were coming out of the pot and very visible, so I had to carefully mask those wires away.
Annoying Noises Productions Neat! Did you get special LED or just the on the shelves type of stuff.
this is really good but also really unsettling
magic pictures and nice storytelling :D
golego animation Thanks!
this is clearly AMAZING. wait so does Harrison allen run this channel?
SamVFXman Yes, I do, though I'm quite oft known simply as Squid.I have a second channel called "Harrison Allen" with a picture of a LEGO skeleton where i post other videos such as my other BRAWL entry. There's also another brickfilmer named Harrison Allen, though I am not he.
Lol confusing. But I hope you win!
Love the camera work!
Yay:) BrickMotion's here! : )
What! someone knows me!
Impressive animation! Very good video!
WOAH four years ago? That's crazy!
Wait a second, they needed to cut a whole for her to drink the potion, so how does she drink the tea mentioned at 0:45 , even if she couldn't taste it she could still eat and drink implying she regularly cut holes that completely healed, She might have no face, but her head is completely unbreakable now, either that or the pumpkins decided to cut a hole in her head when she could have just absorbed the potion
Am i thinking too deeply about this
yes i am
Good job at making a video so good I couldn't help but notice everything about it
The mention of tea is part of her longing to drink tea again. "She wanted eyes so she could see, [she also wanted] a mouth as well to taste her tea" She doesn't have a mouth, but the potion needed to be ingested, so the hole needed to be cut by that point.
@@AnnoyingNoisesProductions did you write this poem by yourself? If you did, you're really good at poetry!
Yes, it's 100% by me. I started it the night that the BRAWL contest was announced and finished it in a single session. One of the rules I set for myself is to only use true rhymes.
So amazing Squid! How the heck long did it take you to write that poem!?
Any clues as to your next project?
Stephen Camp It took me around two and a half hours to write the poem. I finished writing before the contest was even four hours in, before my idea even four hours old. I might some slight adjustments as a rehearsed in the later days, but only to correct certain syllables. The rhymes remained the same. I also cut out three lines which didn't make it into the film near the end.I've been working on Welcome to Darkmoor for quite some time, a sort of horror-ish film in greyscale with hints of red. I wanted that to come out this year, but it's quite likely it may be a little linger. It also has a similar sort of creepy poem in one scene.
AMAZINGLY EPICLY WELLLL DONE
Wow, that was amazing.
I just discovered your channel and it's amazing but I got to ask, how could you say all those rhymes so smooth and fast? Rote it down and practiced or...
He rhymed orange twice ALL HAIL LORD ANNOYINGNOISES
That's some rymeing all the timing , punk ins
Wonderful poem animation!
Fantastic work!
See? This, English teachers, THIS is poetry.
This was so good but scary when I was in by bed in the dark with the closet open
Ah yes, the Land of Riigo-Faloo, a fantasy world so great, it rivals that of even Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter.
the pumpkins three shall not forget, the events that happened and caused regret
Forget and regret don't rhyme.
google translate says it does
Then Google translate is wrong.
I love this!
Goodness. That was quite amazing.
Really beautifully done x
I'm using this for my poem at my school poetry recital.
I hope they like it. Let me know how it goes.
@@AnnoyingNoisesProductions haha thanks. I'm sure they will because this is a really good poem.
Awesome video!
That was just amazing
Another great brickfilm! Do you know where I can see the other BRAWL brickfilms?
***** Thanks!
I am soooooooo tempted to write a fanfic of this right now. LOL
ThePizzadude93 There are many tales of the Pumpkins Three in Riigo-Faloo, not all agree how their story goes, most aren't even sure if or not they were even real.
This is pretty good. Where'd you get the pumpkin heads?
Well, wow. Just wow.
That of is a typo. This totally necessary message is brought to you by, pickles! "Pickles, why bother?"
Wow, amazing!
You did the impossible...you somehow found a word that rhymes with "orange." But in all seriousness, this was very good :)
Where did you get her face because I love it ,like I do with this video 😘
Magnificent.
Nice:D
Wonderful! Magnificent!! Fantastic!!! Splendid!!!! Superb!!!!! Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!!!!!!
Brillant!
That was amazing
Barrel of parrots at 1:36
Wow, that was good!
Amazing!
Another amazing job! Nice Giant Troll! Do I have your permission to, when I get the pieces, copy his axe?
EliteWarrior1026 Yes. Use it. It's a very simple design.
Thanks! :)
So epic!
I love this are you ever thinking of doing a project with mini life or nightly news at nine two other Lego animaters
Angel Freeman I haven't worked with them before nor do I have any plans. I usually just make my videos mostly myself but with some extra voice work. Though I do often voice in films and occasionally I help people with scripts which I find very easy.
Annoying Noises Productions OK
seems like something that would be released on Halloween but who cares lol. nice job! though i didnt find Mr. Munchy hiding anywhere, ill watch it again till i do
MiningNinjaOctopus I've had word that Halloween decor has already started popping up in stores. The spooky season has already begun.
lol
Yes!
How could you make a poem that rhymes in one week?
