Its a biological fact, pregnancy is a huge investment for female (9 months to carry it, years to raise it, the effects on their body, ect) but what ever amount of time it takes a man to get off during sex is his investment (given he doesn't stick around to help with the kid). While a woman can only have a kid every so many months and typically only by one father, a man could technically have hundreds of kids a year given enough access to women. Woman are only fertile for a number of years of their life (without medical intervention) while men (typically) have a much longer window to crank one out. So it makes sense from a biological stand point for a man to throw his seed out there to as many fields as he can to insure his genetic line is passed on, while women should be more selective (like we see in almost ever non-domesticated animal) about their mates to insure only the strongest/best male fathers their young to improve the species.
True, but since there's a 50/50 sex ratio, if one male is impregnating a ton of females, lots of other males will impregnate none..kind of like in sea lions and seals...the strongest most dominant males have off-spring with an harem of females, and most of the other males are bachelors. Natural selection exerts different pressures on males and females. In virtually every mammalian species there is male-male competition. in most mammalian species most males who reach reproductive age never get to copulate even once, while virtually every female that reaches reproductive age will find someone to donate sperm to her. Also in many mammalian species mothers can cooperate in rearing offspring at little cost.
No matter how many males are left bachelors with no offspring, pretty much useless and not procreating or in the gene pool, natural selection will still keep a 50/ 50 sex ratio. That why if a percentage of males are having multiple females, that's always going to leave the rest without. The reason for 50/50 sex ratio is because the chances of having a male born who will have dozens of offspring, compared to ones that have none averages out the same average expectation of reproduction that you would get if you were to have a female, because a female is pretty much guaranteed to reproduce offspring even if they don't have as many as the males who are reproducing with multiple females, they still have more than the males who don't have any. The probability of creating a male or a female is exactly 50/ 50 because the offspring is male if and only if the father contributes a Y chromosome, which happens half of the time. The sex ratio at the zygote stage is about 50/ 50 in most species, including humans. This is an equilibrium point, and natural selection will drive the population back to it if it ever deviates from it. it's most beneficial to produce a balanced sex ratio in the children because it leads to the maximum chances for reproduction in future generations.
Although there's less male-male competition when there is less dimorphism in a species and higher monogamy and pair-bonding unions. Fathering only evolves when there is monogamy. Some species the males die right after they copulate and impregnate a female. Some even develop features on their body for sexual selection that can be detrimental to their own survival, but the positives outweigh the negatives because it makes the male more likely to attract and be chosen by a female to procreate and pass on their genes.

No it does not make sense from a biological standpoint for a man to throw his seed around.
A father need to stay with the woman to ensure the her's and kid's survival, human babies are delegates, plus that would leave less genetic diversity and possible more chances for incest. Men also need to be selected as to who would carry their kids.
That was not considered the case throughout history. Fathers were considered the primary parent not the mother and nurturing was considered part of the masculine role, that started to change with the industrial revolution with fathers being out of the house more.

We are what we do, not what we say.
Back in the day when I was young, most of us knew who the easy girls were, and who the good girls were; and there were still virgins in senior year of high school and a few years into college then. We worked on the good girls, the whole "dating, going steady, etc." and had fun with the easy girls.
Today it's different.
After my wife divorced me from a 20-year marriage, when I was separated, I went on dates with women around half my age. If they didn't put out on the first date or they were annoying (loud, obnoxious, entitled, etc.) they were done; if I thought they were worth it, I gave them to the third date to put out; most put out on the first date.
Of the 20 or so women I went on dates with, I slept with around half, and I had relationships with 2, that last 6 and 3 months; neither were born and raised in the US, both were in the US for college.
TL;DR; if she's into you, she will put out; if she makes you work for it, she's not into you, so bounce and don't waste your time; unless she's young, and you know for sure she's inexperienced.
