@@Onomato Go for the job you enjoy. Trust me, don’t go for the money! You don’t want be at a job you are bored at, and feel miserable waking up to go to. Do what you’re truly passionate about, you’ll appreciate it in the long run. Plus, you can always get promotions!
I love how real you are with your viewers about your experiences as a finance student. It's easy to find someone talking about how they are crushing it, but not many real enough to talk about overcoming the challenges they are getting their asses kicked by. Good luck closing out the senior year and going full-time grind!
I love that you still put your lashes on when you go to your classes even though they make you stand out. I always feel like the girl outside the box in my classes at Santa Clara Univeristy. Its so comforting to know that there are still girls out there who are like me getting college degrees and still being themselves 💓

I’m not a finance student, but I’m taking required finance course and all I have to say is I have a lot of respect for people who major in finance! 🙌🏽 It takes a lot of time and dedication! I’ve been practicing so many problems to prepare for exams and it can be challenging sometimes, but I find that repetition is one of the keys to success.

Hey girl! I’m sort of in the same situation you once were in. I started out as a finance major then decided that’s not what I wanted to do. I developed a passion for nursing, but I’m already in too deep with pursing my degree in finance and almost finished. I just don’t want to throw what I worked hard for down the drain. I would still love to work in finance because it can open many doors, but it’s just not where my heart is at.
I was thinking if I just finish, get the degree, then do an absn program. Then I’ll have two degrees under my belt while not having to choose between one or the other. Sorry for talking my head off, but I wish you the best in your college journey and career. You got this girl ☺️

Girl I'm in the exact opposite situation. I have been an RN for 5 years now and I hate it. I quit my job (I've worked on five diff units in 5 years) and now I'm trying to figure out how I am going to work FT (especially when I don't want to work in any type of nursing job) and go back to school for a bachelor's in finance or accounting...I can't even decide on which major I am more interested in. I'm STRESSED lol

Queen yeah the math is a little tricky depending on the professors . They expect you to already know how to do it
Im a finance major and there is not that many math in finance, in economics yes but in finance not really. Quantitative finance can be tricky because its math based but other than that you will be fine. Again it also depends on your "concentration", for example investments, banking, etc.

This was the first video I clicked on as one I have not really seen too many African American women on UA-cam regarding of finance major I personally will be 30 years old this year and I struggled so much to figure out what I wanted to major in at first it was microbial organism genetics biologist or an astrophysicist I am very fascinated with the form of science but with a finance degree I can possibly shoot more doors open for me and my family currently struggling with the fact I have a learning disorder that makes math difficult but I understand that if I try really extremely hard it's maybe a very rewarding challenge as well as future as well it's great that you loved math prior before his major and more blessings to you and everyone is commenting on this video within their careers there changes in careers and Pursuits blessings to everyone and good luck as well!!

Wow I came to UA-cam because I’m currently majoring in accounting. Although I’m passing I’m freaking lost and not to mention I’m online so my professor really isn’t that accessible. You’ve definitely reassured me that I need to keep pushing and not quit. I’m just hoping to find a great internship that’ll teach me with experience. I’m more of a hands on person. Love Reesie Because I couldn't pass Chem 1 for the life of me lol and I always knew I wanted to go back to school for a business degree since I didn't see myself working in the field of biomedical engineering forever. I always saw myself running or managing a company since I was a kid. So I decided to fully make the dive into finance over the summer, persuing my BBA in finance and eventually getting my MBA in it as well.

OMG i just love your video girl! Btwn i love finance because of many things but the thing is stopping me to major in it is maths and stats, accounting.. i have just graduated highschool with focus on business subjects including accounting, stats and maths... it sucks seriously but finance is kind of boring and kind of not. So yeah i'm choosing Marketing instead because it's my thing... branding, ads, sales etc. Finance and Marketing both are so lucrative, high demanding because every company needs these peoples! Some jobs of Marketing are higher in salary than Finance and some jobs in Finance is higher than Marketing. BOTH ARE GREAT BUSINESS MAJORS!

that's so sarah with a finance degree you can get any job basically. Accounting Jobs specifically will hire you quickly. Due to the lock down its hard to get a job at the moment . But I know before I had alot of accounting job offers

njoud - that was for my general classes i only took two accounting classes . Cost Accounting was an option but I avoided all accounting classes that wasn’t mandatory

Do you have advice how to gain experience in the field such as an internship/ experience for a beginner and as a poc?

I completely agreee with Troy ! I went to community college first and then to a cal state and im graduating debt free unlike my other friends that are 50k-100k in debt so it up too you. I feel like if you want a true college experience go to a university but you will have to pay later on . Finance you can get any job im actually going towards marketing route even thogg ugh h i have a finance degree dont let the degree define you. Get something you can learn and use in your day to day life. Internships , join clubs is the easiest way to get internships

Lavish Venture it depends on the school, my business program is BS no matter what concentration. So i didnt have a choice. Jobs dont care about the degree only experience. The degree is just something extra to get a better chance.

im wondering why in Bulgaria finance is male-dominated, accounting is mostly women-dominated, as well as Marketing and business. However, I did not know what I wanted to pursue and decided to try finance, thinking hey, atleast, that is a major that is going to give me one advantage in whatever field I want to work in, that has administration or document organisation included. But since then, I found out that Finance "cave or hole" I decided to take off into, is way deeper than I ever thought - and to be honest, except some rare cases, its pretty interesting to learn how the markets and enterpreneurs control prices, stocks, how they depend on the demand, etc. But yeah, Applied Maths is a b**ch, im having it the next semester, as well as the Applied statistics, oh the name alone is pretty scary :D

Edit: well after my 1st year I did use Excel and it does do a lot of the math for u. IF U CAN PUT NUMBERS IN RIGHT 🙃. And I already toke stats which didn’t go well but I enjoyed this video coming from a young black women who is also into the hair stuff because I can relate. ( I do hair and nails but I want to get into finance, business type stuff)
