Man, we've had beautiful water in the surf off the Surfside Jetties wind at our backs but no one is catching anything. Sometimes a few very small Sandtrout. Before this wind hit us, I was limiting out on the Quintana Jetties in the surf around the 4th gut. Using Corky Fattie Texas Chicken & the pink top MirrOdine lure. Since that SSW winds? Noda, nothing. Headed back after I drop my boy off at work to see if anything has changed but it's been dead. March thru June 31st was fire!
Looks like a great day! I really liked the flexibility of your boat so I put a Yamaha 70hp 2 stroke on my G3. Great package for fresh or saltwater fishing. Keep the vids coming and tight lines!
Hey, great video! I was wondering if it’s pretty rocky out there? I got a Carolina Skiff 192 jls, and it has a deep keel. I’m wondering how much it would knock my dog and I around.
Kagen, my brothers in I will be at Crystal beach next week for a week long trip. Looking to get on fish. We have kayaks. Any recommendations on spots, lured, etc?
The marsh across from stingaree to the east has always produced fish for me. Lures really just depend on water color. If stained/muddy use darker colors and clearer use more realistic colors
Eh kinda depends on the direction of the wind. It might be sketchy getting out there and I have to go slow but if the wind is blocked by the jetty and the overall surf is flat I can tuck behind it and be ok. So it really just depends on the primary swell size. But nothing over 12mph to keep it simple.
It’s an 18ft xpress. It’s really not that far of a run it’s just 7.5 miles from the end of dike to the end of jetty’s. My main concern with the 14ft boat is the pilot boats and ships that come in and out of the channel can really throw some larger wake and the captain for sure needs to have some experience knowing how to go about getting by swells that big. Also just being aware that those wakes can hit you when fishing and throw you off boat if not prepared.
Man we fished that exact spot last Saturday and it was terrible. Nothing nut small hard heads. Seen to boats come within a couple of feet from hitting each other hauling ass through the boat cut.
Man all this rain has been screwing with Chocolate Bayous water too, about a 40 minute run west of Galveston. It’s been mainly fresh that water looks pretty good compared to what I’ve been fishin. Lol we’ve been slammed by the weather lately. Need it to stop
The rain has made it rough. Used to fish chocolate a lot but like you side since it’s fresh i haven’t been in a while. I have just been trying to stay as salty as possible.

You can go anywhere in that boat. I have the 162 and jetty trips are just fine. Heck you a 19ft bay boat send it !

what's the highest wind speed you would take that boat out to the Jetty?

What kind of little bag is that with all the ziplocks for your soft plastics?
Yes, I am interested too.
I found it at academy. I don’t remember the brand of it but I like it a lot.
How far of a boat ride is it from tcd?
Depends on how far down the jetties you want to go and how fast you can run in the conditions. From TCD to end of jetty’s is 7.5 miles.
I think its 5mi to the cut

Man, sucks to hear that. I have my week long trip to Corpus coming up, hopefully it is fairing better a bit more south.
