Not a huge fan of Metallicas lesser works. But, Rob was a pretty decent replacement after Cliff and Jayson. His work in Suicidal and Infectious Grooves speaks for itself!
This is one of the reasons why we are damned lucky that Metallica turned down Les Claypool---Lars and James neuter the bassists they've had post-cliff. And to be fair, the music doesn't really support wild bass playing like you hear here. Les never would have become as legendary as he is now. Trujillo is on that level of technicality, but you'd never know it if you only listened to his Metallica days.

yeah and his older brother played with Zappa for a while and performed some of the most difficult music ever written for the drumset. check out the studio recording of 'Mo n Herb's vacation' and look up a notation transcription. basically one giant polyrhythm. Chad probably taught brooks a lot as well

Then I couldn’t find the correct translation of the name of your group. but I was hooked by the melodies and remembered them throughout my life. Today for some reason I remembered the name and started looking and found you! I'm glad that this was in my life! I’m surprised by this because in Russia no one knows you and has never heard of you. That bass riff is insane to physically play. It just sounds like a few ascending chromatics, but fingerpicking that as fast as he did and for as long as the song is is fucking crazy.

Trujillo left after this record to play with Ozzy, everyone knew him at the time because of this bass line, weird but not coming from Les Claypool... Mike was already a legend on Suicidal Tendencies, the 90s owns 70% of its bands to him and the 90s knows it... *stop with this "underrated" BS for everything.*

17 years ago. Wow for UA-cam. This is way older than 17 years of course. This was from a time when new hardcore was going this direction. There wasn't much of any mainstream music being played like this.

I don't think Rob's wasting his talent like everyone else is saying. But, I would like to see him take some time record other projects even if it isn't with Mike and crew. I've seen him do guest performances with other talent like "Rodrigo and Gabriella" so here obviously has connections and some free time to lay something down in the studio.
