Not a huge fan of Metallicas lesser works. But, Rob was a pretty decent replacement after Cliff and Jayson. His work in Suicidal and Infectious Grooves speaks for itself!

This is one of the reasons why we are damned lucky that Metallica turned down Les Claypool---Lars and James neuter the bassists they've had post-cliff. And to be fair, the music doesn't really support wild bass playing like you hear here.
Les never would have become as legendary as he is now. Trujillo is on that level of technicality, but you'd never know it if you only listened to his Metallica days.

    • @Faks.09

@@blppt you know it makes me wonder
Dave M. became a legend with his own band after getting kicked from metallica
Les became a legend with his own band after failing to join Metallica
What if Cliff was kicked out from the band? Could've he found his own legend band?
Phock now i can't stop thinking about that

    • @blppt

I don't think Rob's wasting his talent like everyone else is saying. But, I would like to see him take some time record other projects even if it isn't with Mike and crew.
I've seen him do guest performances with other talent like "Rodrigo and Gabriella" so here obviously has connections and some free time to lay something down in the studio.
