Quick Tidbit about Vulkan after the Drop Site Massarce, it's not necessarily that he was killed as much as he was captured by the Night Lords. He does manage to escape, in no small part due to him being a Perpetual but him being captured is fairly important as that's how he managed to make his way to Ultramar, where he eventually escaped from Konrad Curze by launching himself out of his Flagship and basically pulling a Master Chief from the start of Halo 3.
Love these! Been following you since the glory days of D1. You do such a good job breaking down topics like paracausality and the like I’m excited to see your take on the warp! Keep up the good work! Excited to see your journey through 40K. However long it lasts
I've followed you for several years now, and I think it's worth saying: - I haven't seen any other lore channel, for any franchise, have the same level of production value as yours - The way you explain things, from the aesthetic side (the delivery, etc.) to the way things are structured (the chronology, the wealth of references, etc.) are head and shoulders above the most, if not all, other lore channels, and perhaps most importantly - Seeing you branch out of D2 feels like such a great opportunity for you to flex your chops as a storyteller, especially with the freedom to cover either super dense universes (like 40k), or (I hope) less-covered universes like maybe Battletech (*wink wink*) I'm eager to see where you go, and am very happy to see you growing even more!
Just visited Warhammer World (their flagship store, exhibition centre, event hall and restaurant, that is next to their corporate HQ and only UK factory) in Nottingham a day or 2 ago. Perfect timed video. For anyone curious it's worth going just for the exhibition centre. It's full of just pretty much every model old and new, with these massive displays and dioramas using the models to show massive battles that are a Where's Wally/Waldo of micro skimishes and flowing fronts of a battle. There's a Tyrannid battle display that feels EXACTLY like the Attarax missions in Space Marine 2.
10:59 - I love that in Darktide, the Zealot class gets a voice line when activating their Fury of the Faithful ability that says "Blood for the Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne!" like, yeah, my guy isn't failing to Khorne, dunno what you're talking about...

SONS OF MALICE MENTIONED Only 6 minutes in: Man I hope he talks about Vashtorr the Arkifane. The new kid on the chaos block 25:45 - I know this is just an intro to Chaos but the Ynari or however you write them are a faction of Eldar, Drukhari and other Eldar sub factions that have found a way to not be completely doomed to be devoured by Slaanesh. The Rubric of Ahriman is such an interesting plot point for Ahriman himself. The man is desperately searching for the Black Library to undo the Rubric and save his brothers from a horrible existance. Too bad he is literally being clowned on. Great video! Cannot wait to see someone with your quality bar take on 40K.

First of all I want to say a couple things. First is that I'm a long time 40k fan. Been playing the tabletop since 3rd edition (about 23 years now) and second is that I LOVE your content (a Destiny player since D1). Chaos is my absolute FAVORITE faction. I even have the 8 star of Chaos tattooed on my elbow! I love love loved your Space Marine 2 vid. You did a great job explaining who and what the 4 gods of Chaos are. Please please please keep up the 40k videos! The Destiny universe and lore is second only to my love of the 40k franchise. You're doing it more than justice with your explanations, especially with how you're presenting this more for the newer fans of the franchise. A++ work Byf!
27:40 The Luna Wolves legion would be renamed the Sons of Horus sometime after battling the Interrex. The part where the Sons of Horus would later be renamed the Black Legion is actually a misconception (even within the universe of 40k!) The character Iskandar Khayon (Khayon the Black) states this in the book Talon of Horus.
As a die hard Warhammer fan hearing byfs delivery on topics I have heard a million times .... Is so fresh and clean ... The smooth honeyed words of the destiny lore daddy .... Fits the lore of 40k so well ..... Maybe the emperor has a new vessel to speak though now ..... Keep up the amazing work ❤❤
If I remember correctly, the Burning of Prospero was a really complicated/confusing affair as after having busted the barrier to the Emperor's Webway Project, Magnus had a moment where he finally put his ego aside and said "I fucked up". Without consulting anyone, he disabled communication to and from the planet, disabled the planetary/orbital defenses, told his sons either nothing or to not resist what is to come, and then retreated away to be left alone. So by the time Magnus finally snapped out of his depression midway through the battle, Russ and his Space Wolves had already done serious damage to the planet and scattered the Thousand Sons who were organizing a defense as best they could since Magnus had been ignoring their pleas for help.
Good video. Made me chuckle that you started with Chaos and ended up summarising the Horus heresey! One thing to mention; the 'vision' that the Emperor supposeduly shows Magnus in the Throne Room during the siege, and the ultimatum that he can rejoin the Emperor if he sacrifices his Legion is 'debunked' by Vulkan when they battle in the Webway shortly after. That the vision and conversation never took place, and that it was just a pathetic delusion that Magnus tells himself to justify his actions (Siege of Terra: Echoes of Eternity). Additionally although killed by Magnus, Vulkan returns to life (painfully) as he's a Perpetual and makes his way back to the Throne Room.
Maybe not your intention, but your video got me into 40k and I'm currently working through painting my space wolves combat patrol. and its been an amazing like self therapy just me and some music painting miniatures. appreciate you my man

The Mournival was made up of four members. Two of them: Loken and Torgadon, were opposed to the "cure" offered by Erebus. Abbadon and Little Horus agreed to the sure. The Mournival was split and therefore led to the ultimate betrayal by Horus.
If you want really reliable sources for 40k characters, events, battles, vehicles, etc, the Lexicanum is vastly superior to the Wiki. The Lexicanum cites sources, almost universal ly books or codices with verifiable, up-to-date, canonical information. As a Horus Heresy book and lore whore, it’s my go-to for exploring areas I want additional context for but that I don’t want to buy a whole book to understand
Regarding 50:00; this is not true. The Interrex were not crushed by Horus after Erebus stole the Anathame. Horus and his fleet fled the system, hoping that time would prove their innocence. After he was seduced by Chaos, he returned and destroyed the Interrex, plundering their society for technology to bribe the Mechanicum to turn to his side, which he also did with another society, the Aurelian Technocracy.
Thank you for straightening out the details on this. The crushing was so inevitable one way or another, but the context of when and under what circumstances really matters.
It’s pretty funny having the influx of 40k lore content trying to summarize the setting, and speedbumps coming in the form of the similar sounding names that characters/factions/concepts have because the creators had no concern for scope and consistency when coming up with them Like the Eye of Terror and Eye of Terra Or the Iron Warriors and Iron Hands, not to be confused with the Crimson Fists or the Imperial Fists.
I'm happy to see you do warhammer stuff. I also find it kind of funny because your Destiny lore videos made me think "oh, the Hive are basically a fusion of the Tyranids and the Forces of Chaos" which made me even more of a repugnant fanboy of the Hive and my man Oryx
As a person who hates star wars (the movies) but loves star wars (the lore), I love that you are covering the lore, as I have a similar experience with this franchise.
Space marine 2 has nailed the power fantasy of a space marine with this game. All they have to do now is expand. More campaigns and then more chapters and scenarios. They definitely struck gold. Imagine a Horus Hearsay or a story that centers around an Imperial Knight or a Titan in a giant 40K battle. The pinnacle would be the fall of Cadia, where you switch between regular Cadian, to space marine to Inquisition, then to Titan crew etc. I’m definitely dreaming but it would be cool. 😊
Khorne doesn’t care about honor. This is largely a holdover from Warhammer Fantasy where he’s also associated with martial prowess. Sure, Khornate *followers* might have some code or sense of honor, but Khorne doesn’t care from where the blood flows, only that it does.

@simonmon8828 Praising the emperor for Chaos? Sounds like heresy brother!
Member of the Emperor’s Children spotted
Ahem. I think you mean DEATH TO THE FALSE EMPEROR. My friend.
Pulling a master chief...without armor
I'm so happy to see Byf doing 40k lore, finally my favourite lore creator doing my favourite lore!
We’re here for this man! Stoked for these videos!
Love these! Been following you since the glory days of D1. You do such a good job breaking down topics like paracausality and the like I’m excited to see your take on the warp! Keep up the good work! Excited to see your journey through 40K. However long it lasts
I've followed you for several years now, and I think it's worth saying:
- I haven't seen any other lore channel, for any franchise, have the same level of production value as yours
- The way you explain things, from the aesthetic side (the delivery, etc.) to the way things are structured (the chronology, the wealth of references, etc.) are head and shoulders above the most, if not all, other lore channels, and perhaps most importantly
- Seeing you branch out of D2 feels like such a great opportunity for you to flex your chops as a storyteller, especially with the freedom to cover either super dense universes (like 40k), or (I hope) less-covered universes like maybe Battletech (*wink wink*)
I'm eager to see where you go, and am very happy to see you growing even more!
Love hearing Warhammer lore from someone else who is relatively new to the series! Plus a great relaxing voice. Byf and Vaati truly the lore MVPs
56:10 Byf, it is valid to say Magnus did nothing wrong. He was told to do nothing, and he did _that_ wrong.
Welcome to 40k man, it’s great to have you. There’s nothing like your style
God your voice narration will be like heaven
10:59 - I love that in Darktide, the Zealot class gets a voice line when activating their Fury of the Faithful ability that says "Blood for the Emperor, skulls for the Golden Throne!"
like, yeah, my guy isn't failing to Khorne, dunno what you're talking about...
Byf I hope you realize no matter what games lore you cover you have a good sized community that will follow you no matter where you go bc they watch you for you
Watching you become a gateway to Warhammer is amazing. As a fan of 40k for half a decade now, you’re doing a good job as someone starting out as a 40k Lore creator. Can’t wait to see more of your Destiny and now Warhammer vids!!!
Into the Fires of Battle! Onto the Anvil of War!
As someone who’s just getting into 40K through Space Marine 2, this video and your previous one have been not only informative but immensely entertaining. Thank you Byf!
no way my goat uploads a warhammer video, all is right in the world
Thank you for continuing to cover 40k! Huge 40k fan and I've never enjoyed hearing things I already know as much as I do hearing you cover it!
These videos always leave me with a smile on my face as it gets to the motto of the channel: Per Audacia Ad Astra...I'll see you starside.
SONS OF MALICE MENTIONED
Only 6 minutes in: Man I hope he talks about Vashtorr the Arkifane. The new kid on the chaos block
25:45 - I know this is just an intro to Chaos but the Ynari or however you write them are a faction of Eldar, Drukhari and other Eldar sub factions that have found a way to not be completely doomed to be devoured by Slaanesh.
The fact that you’re covering warhammer lore how are my favorite UA-camr rn
Love that one of my favorite lore creators is taking a crack at 40k. You'll be very busy and have a lot of fun with it if you keep going.
Finally, lore accurate Tzeentch. The 40k stuff has been great, hope to see more!
It's not much, but I want to support your branch out as much as I can right now. You got me into Destiny and "lore" as a whole, which later led to me finding 40k lore on my own. Now that you're getting into 40k lore content, I couldn't be more excited.
Praise the Emperor for Brother Byf.
Covering 40k content is such a W move man I'm happy for u , keep the content rolling I'll watch it nonstop
LETS GO! BROTHER LIBRARIAN BYF!
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!!
SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!!!
Milk for the khorne flakes
As a die hard Warhammer fan hearing byfs delivery on topics I have heard a million times .... Is so fresh and clean ... The smooth honeyed words of the destiny lore daddy .... Fits the lore of 40k so well ..... Maybe the emperor has a new vessel to speak though now ..... Keep up the amazing work ❤❤
Loving the long form content but Warhammer is always good to just sit back and listen too for sure
Great to see the saga continue! Good work Byf!
The one thing that is consistent about 40k is that chaos is the bad guys plane and simple.
The whole point of 40k is that there are no good guys
Its not just chaos are the bad guys. Everyone is the bad guys. Even rhe imperium and the spacemarines
@lostkhan1728 Yes everyone is bad but GW wants chaos to be seen as the bad guys of the bad guys.
Maybe not your intention, but your video got me into 40k and I'm currently working through painting my space wolves combat patrol. and its been an amazing like self therapy just me and some music painting miniatures. appreciate you my man
It's always a good day when byf posts 40k content
I’ve been watching you for a long long time now, and I gotta say it: 40k is the most natural thing I could see you covering with Destiny falling off. Your best Destiny videos were always the darker or more serious ones, or the ones that went deep. There’s lots and lots of that in 40k, I’m learning in recent times.
byf you've just tapped the mightiest content well. may it bring you prosperity

Byfe’s choice of chapter being Blood Raven feels super appropriate for him.
Welcome to the fandom Byfe😊
Ah yes, Magnus' Magpies ;)
Welcome to Warhammer Byf, good to have ya man!
I am so here for long form 40K Lore content from the Lore Daddy.
Hail Byf!! Nice to see you covering lore from other I.P.
Took you long enough to jump into the grimdark - glad to see you amongst us :)
Please keep rolling with the 40K lore! It's insanely deep and always dark and interesting!
I've grown so accustomed to byf through D2. It's nice to have you do Warhammer
Please please please keep making 40k videos! Your Destiny videos similar to what Leutin09 does with 40k, and they are both so high quality. If the two of you continue to make 40k videos I can die happy lol. Please keep this up!
Everyone here will soon learn the phrase “Fuck Erebus”
Yessssssssssss I was just talking with my cousin on how I want you to deep dive space marine😱😱plzz keep doing it I’ll watch every freakin video
Byf and Bricky collab when?
God I’ve been looking forward to 40K lore with Byf’s vocal butter… its soothing
Been looking forward to to this video my goat
It actually makes me so happy you are covering more than destiny, I could listen to you reading the back of a Cereal box and giving the lore on the company that made it, keep it up BYF!
BYF IVE BEEN A HUGE FAN SINCE THE DESTINY DAYS AND SPENT MANY A NIGHTS FALLING FAST asleep TO LORE VIDEOS SO LET ME SAY ...... DUDE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT 40K NEEDS!! SCREW THE A.I. NARRATORS !! IM TELLING YOU ALL BYF"S CONSIDERABLE DEDICATION TO HIS CRAFT IS PAR NONE!
The Mournival was made up of four members. Two of them: Loken and Torgadon, were opposed to the "cure" offered by Erebus. Abbadon and Little Horus agreed to the sure. The Mournival was split and therefore led to the ultimate betrayal by Horus.
Never been more happy to see byf get in to 40k I’m new too and I’m loving the lore
Thanks for making your Destiny videos for when I wanted to create a backstory for my Destiny character.
17:27 Nurgle is older than humanity. The idea of him being born from the black death is retconned.
Byf no matter the game, no matter any fine details... I'll watch the video. You just tell the stories so well I can't help but be fascinated
And I know this isn't a game but I'd love to watch any lord of the rings lore video produced by you
Your proselytising will be your end Heretic.
(GREAT WORK BYF!!!!)
It’s pretty funny having the influx of 40k lore content trying to summarize the setting, and speedbumps coming in the form of the similar sounding names that characters/factions/concepts have because the creators had no concern for scope and consistency when coming up with them
Like the Eye of Terror and Eye of Terra
Or the Iron Warriors and Iron Hands, not to be confused with the Crimson Fists or the Imperial Fists.
I made the switch I’m so happy byf did! This universe is so cool but so lore dense and confusing. Having the lore daddy helping guide the way is dope
Ladies and Gentlemen, we got him!
(love to see content about this extremely fun universe, keep the good stuff coming :D)
Very cool too see you getting into 40k.
You are wonderful Byf. Top tier lad here.
BYFFFFF YOU LEGEND THANK YOU FOR MAKING MORE
Hy Byf, this Univers waits with so much Lore 👏.
OMG Byf covering 40k?? Hell yeah! Welcome my brother, for the Emperor!!!
Byf finally doing warhammer oh my goodness my day has been made
