I like it when you leave in "mistakes' it gives the city some characther. otherwise you could remove everything and just make a gridstyle 1 billion inhab city. Keep it a bit messy. all cities have patches that can be better.

I agree. If it were a real city, things like that could become tourist attractions. Imperfections FTW!

Good point! Also this is how elevated highways came to be, adjusting to increased traffic in an existing city.

The city is really starting to take shape, I love it! To be completely honest I wasn’t the biggest fan when you first started the new series but it‘s developing so nicely now and I can’t wait to see what‘s coming next! Good job James!!! X

I really like the elevated highway it reminds me of the part of the BQE near where I used to live in Brooklyn...or even the highways here in Boston that cut right through the city. Also I think you should make that empty area into like a soccer field on one side of the monorail and then on the other have a few trees and picnic tables

James, have you ever thought of building a tunnel under the main strip? In Seattle, our highway 99, which is a combination of different roads like Aurora, actually is under construction where this highway will go underneath the main downtown and then comes out of the tunnel on the other side. Our Busses and light rail also have their own tunnel as well, mainly express busses coming from the highway. In the new 99 tunnel which won't be open for a while, there are little low grade angle of elevations that go into the outskirts of downtown, which we call Belltown and Queen Anne (where the needle is). If you don't want to go into the city and want to go straight to Seatac, you can avoid the local downtown streets by going into the 99 tunnel. Up until 2014 or 2015, we had the viaduct, which is a elevated highway with southbound 99 on top and northbound 99 underneath and it kind of went along the waterfront kind of where the ferris wheel is.
Maybe Seattle might give you some additional inspiration. You have been here once after all, according to you.

James is hands down the best city builder ever. It's organic yet planned out, good connections, yet the suburbs feel spacious. You use a good amount of mods and assets, but it's not the only thing you do, and let the city grow naturally with zoning. I love all of Jame's City Skylines builds!

  • @ElanaIsHere

The elevated roads remind me so much of NYC. Especially the interchanges. And I LOVE the round-about. It's honestly so nice. Also the rocks in the park are just gorgeous. I think adding soccer fields to finish off the green space would look really nice. You could even have half be a soccer field and the other half be more of just a green space with a few trees and nice pathways? Or maybe a little playground?

James make sure all the paths in Seven Mile Beach Park go to park side gate, otherwise leveling up will take longer as it won’t count people who just walk in without going thru a gate... city is looking great tho 👍

I’m loving this city! The new roundabout looks so good too. To stop the sewage flowing towards the future city, you should build a ‘natural’ barrier like a rock groyne or a spit perpendicular to the shoreline on the left so it travels towards the edge of the map instead

  • @SavvDaDon

I love what you did with the place! I also sparked an idea when you moved the camera just above the rail line. The idea was that you make a train station just there so that the regional train stop there and you have a bus line that cuts through and terminates by the bus station/university. Just an idea, keep doing what your doing James!

In the open grass area under the monorail, continue one of the parks to that area and have like a sportsplex with soccer and baseball fields. And have a walking track around with a pond in the middle. Like sporting fields on one side of the tracks and a walking path on both sides and a pond on the other.

  • @GozerAndHisDogZull
    @GozerAndHisDogZull 6 років тому

Might want to build jetties up to / beyond the water and then place the piers; they were originally built for boats to pull up to and would be further out in the water (unless in a deep harbor).
Roundabout looks amazing! On a future map, that roundabout would look great in the center of a New York Central Park style park; maybe with the monorail running down the center lengthwise.
PS: I can't speak for everyone but I like having the incidents turned on so that the city empties out after the sewage issue (like hard mode in Banished), the unexpected keeps it interesting and it's more like dealing with a real city. Plus there's the question of can he bring it back from the brink of disaster.

I believe the term you're looking for is an "Elevated Parkway/Expressway". Parkway means scenic broad width highway/commuter route. Your's certainly is scenic, just not wide. One asset that needs to be done is a narrow 4-lane with jersey barriers

I love the new roundabout and everything else with the city. This is one of my favorite cities ever. Suggestion: Try tunneling your express roads. Maybe save your gave beforehand and see if you like it.
    Suggestion 2: More bus lines?
Suggestion 3: Create a transit hub at the main entrance of the city, then a monorail or tram down the main road through the original park. Could potentially reduce traffic. Again, maybe save beforehand.
Suggestion 4: For downtown and even current area, try the Metro Overhaul Mod
Keep up the great work and hello from NYC!

Love the new roundabout, and the new "Tokyo-inspired" over-roads and the trees make a HUGE difference to the over aesthetic and character of the city. For the field, I'd suggest doing a path network, like you implied, and also add in a school in the middle or maybe even move the university over there (shoutout to @Thomas Kwan for similar mindset) , or some other recreational thing because I really think that adding something extra in that area would also make a difference, however small it may be. ;)) Keep up the good work in this city!

For that large open green space, a sports complex would be nice. I personally can't live without putting neighborhood athletic places around my towns, such as soccer field, baseball fields, American football fields, etc. (As well as neighborhood churches, but that does not "green" the city.) When you Google Earth cities, golf courses really stand out and although I haven't done it yet, I do have the props for a make your own golf course which I finally plan to use in my current city.
