Hoover Concept One Upright Vacuum

- Here I'm showing is one of my Concept Ones I have. I picked this up late summer for $7 from my local thrift store. This was in the condition when I founded it. Haven't done a thing to it other than just replacing the bag. I also picked these bags up from the thrift store a while ago since they were dirt cheap and they kinda match with this Hoover from the timeline. Other than that, it works great still! I've been after one of these for a while now. When I worked at my first vacuum shop, I remember this was the first vacuum I've ever got to service. Maybe not the exact same model but the colors were definitely correct. And of course, I just happen to be a huge fan of Concepts. They are my most favorite Hoovers ever. Even though there's one Elite that's my all time favorite Hoover, I'd still take a Concept or a PowerMax over an Elite. Built like a tank, cleans amazingly, love the sound of the motor, and the self propelled is the best that I've ever used on a upright vacuum. Anyways, I brought this down to my aunt's to replace the Concept Two. Even though it's retired, we had to use it when the central vac was put out of service. I just didn't wanted to risk breaking anything on that old tired thing because it's one of my favorite vacuums ever! This is in MUCH better condition and I like the feel of the handle more. Only downfall is the cord is alot shorter. So I'd have no worries with using this anytime soon. Although at some point I'd like to have it fully serviced including putting new belts and lightbulbs on.

My great grandma Hellen had one and it had powerdrive and I think it was from the 80s and was a orange and beige color and we inherited it when she passed and it did a good job
I absolutely loved my concept two electronic and concept one high performance. Part of me regrets donating them when I moved but I literally have no carpets in my current house. Glad I have videos I made posted for nostalgia. They clean carpets great, and I love how they sound. So late 70's - 80's. Nice video.
I absolutely love concepts. One of my all-time favorite Hoovers and all-time favorite vacuums all around

Wow, you got a great deal for that thing only being $7. I would’ve thought the bearings in that thing for a price that low would just sound dry or damaged. It seems like this machine was well maintained. I know it was used because of the carbon dust leakage and the headlights burned out. Concept style machines just don’t die. Like there are still tons of these that are 40 years old now that still work. It kind of goes to show that American made machines really do last a life time. I just wished Hoover at least kept making parts for these. I kind of prefer the Powermax version of these, mostly because of the upgraded onboard tools. If I ever come across the rare high end black version of the powermax, I am sure snatching it up because they were only made for like one year.
I agree completely. The black PowerMax I think is my most favorite out of all of them. I love the green one as well but I think the black one with a variable speed controller is really cool.
I have the same model, the Concept machines are my 2nd most favorite vacuum next to the Hoover Elite (it must be how it has similar architecture compared to the Elite), but I do admit these are better in cleaning performance and build quality compared to the Elite.
There's a Futura which is basically an Elite that's my all time favorite Hoover. But I just like the Concepts more in my opinion or any Hoover that was made before Maytag bought them out.
@@panasonicvac4036 There were 4 different versions of the Elite branded a Futura, there was the basic hard bag one that was dark blue, then there were 2 Legacy based versions, one green and one dark blue, and then there was the red Dimension based one.
There was a black one as well.
