Orange Wings

- I make a typical orange sauce for Chinese Orange Chicken and use it for the wings.
Ingredients:
2 pounds to 4 pounds chicken wings
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup plain vinegar
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup soy sauce
1 and 1/2 teaspoons dried ginger
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil
zest of one orange
dried red pepper flakes (optional)
2 Tablespoons Cornstarch mixed with 1/4 cup water (optional)
This sauce will be good for up to 5 pounds chicken wings.
Mix all your ingredients and heat until the sugar is dissolved. Then cool. You may add the cornstarch slurry at the end and boil for a minute or two. I kinda wish I had done that. I apologize.
Then fry your wings and put into the sauce for 2 minutes to coat the wings.

Yes they could! I think the restaurants are buying all the small ones, leaving the grocery stores (frozen ones) with Large Marge sized wings.
I don't think I have ever had orange chicken, but I sure have a weakness for wings and orange juice so I'm positive this is good!
If you like Asian Stir Fry's ... Orange Chicken is a popular dish here. It is made with boneless white chicken for the most part. I did not thicken the orange sauce but you can with a slurry of cornstarch and the sauce will cling to the chicken much more. You could even do this with cooked frozen chicken strips and that would make you smile as well. Thank you so much for watching and I hope you give this a try. You can make half the sauce as I made a bit too much.

The sauce sounds delightful, but I totally cringed at how close your hands appeared to be to the oil! Oy! Probably a trick of the light but I swear you were gonna cook your fingertips and perhaps the back of a knuckle or two.
You are the second person to say something about that. Years ago when I was a kid, I worked for Long John Silvers. We would batter the fish and drop into the oil with our hands. So I am well trained. Now I hear people at LJS have to use tongs to dip and drop the fish. We also battered the raw shrimp and put into the oil with our hands using a kinda special technique. We also had Peg Leg Dinners back then aka chicken wings parts 😇

Thank you. Any sauce you make for a stir fry can be made into wings. I should have thickened the sauce with cornstarch.
