Can't wait for part 2. I'm inserting my appreciation for the Star Wars bucket here, as that was obviously the most revolutionary thing ever devised by humans in 2000.
The buckets were all so amazing. The fact we got one for Star Wars, let alone one themed off of Podracers, is nothing short of a miracle.
7:17 the reason we don’t have these minifig packs anymore is supposedly because Hasbro holds the rights to all Star Wars figure packs, and since those LEGO sets were just the minifigs, they had to change them. Battle packs are the modern equivalent of these sets; no one buys battle packs for the side builds, but that’s how LEGO gets around them being solely figures.
That rule was in place very early on, and the display stands serve as the caveat to make it so they don’t infringe on the current rights holder for action figures at the time.
This is so fire
Easily one of the most underrated LEGO UA-camrs right now!
I really appreciate that. Thank you.
With the reveal of the original Bionicle story bible, it seems like Lego Star Wars heavily influenced the creation of Lego original IP story focused themes. Bionicle was even pitched as "Book 4: The Legend of Mata Nui", referencing how New Hope would be known as "Episode IV", a middle of a larger story. The biomechanical beings in Bionicle were originally pitched as Droids, but they changed it due to SW trademarking that word. And ofc, Christian Faber, the creator of Bionicle, also worked on original Lego Star Wars, especially the iconic Logo with the OT and Prequel yellow minifigures.
It’s no wonder they both served as the juggernauts in not just bringing LEGO into the modern age, but also rescuing them from bankruptcy
I loved looking through the catalog back in the day at these sets. I think I still have it somewhere. The Lego Star Wars website was my intro to Star Wars and got me into the IP (worked for Lucas/ILM a few years ago) so for me, a lot of my personal passion and eventual professional life started here
Incredible how LEGO has taken you straight to The Maker! Am I ok to ask what you worked on with them?
Very cool idea for series, also love your channel!
Thank you so much. I’m glad you do!
2:22 is the best part.
Great video! ❤🎉😊
Thank you very much!
My brother says you remind him of a lego matpat. 😊 and honestly i couldn't agree more, awesome epidode BTW.
Thank you. Honestly that’s not the first time I’ve heard that. I take it as a compliment
All these sets look pretty awesome. The prices gotta hurt though 😬
Today? Oh yes. Back then tho, everything was pretty affordable all things considered
please part 2
It’s on the cards!
Bionicle history when?
Maybe one day. Gotta get this one off the ground first
i wasn’t born then lol
Way to make me feel old lol
Lego Star Wars fell off hardest at 2021 to be honest
You’re right. It feels like we get sets we don’t want for instance the boba fett thrownroom. I love jabba’s palace but i dont want the palace with a bunch of random figures/ figures that are already in another set. I want jabba’s palace with all the cool figures from episode 6.
@@deadbygaylight the worst part of that set is that it is based off of a 6 second clip
