    I feel the best option is actually the DAC wax. It last half as long as Blu Tack or glue dots, sure, but unlike those it takes literally a second to reload. I’d rather do a quick poke every 5hrs then have to fight with it every 10.

    This was a great video. I actually have tried all your waxes except for the Paddy Wax (glad I didn't spend money on that!). I pretty much had the same experience as you with the dental wax. Your video helped me realize that I am completely justified in just using the ordinary pink wax. Sure it doesn't last as long but if you include how long it takes to add to the pen, sticking the pen 4 times in the pink wax would have taken less time than it takes to add the glue dot once.

      I think everyone has their own preferences when working. I don’t mind the pink wax, but I’d rather use the glue dots and not have to refill the pen as often. Everything has a pro/con, so it’s just what works better for the individual. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Yes, wish I would have seen this before I spent $15. On the Paddy wax. It is a mess. The wax sticks to the drills... So you have to get it off the drill and it doesn't stick to the canvas. I got it because another person recommended it highly.

      I think it’s one of those personal preference things - I just personally found it difficult to use. But I love my putty/blue tac - and there are people who absolutely hate them. Just gotta find what works for you. Thanks for watching!!

    I think I’m weird because I love using the pink wax that comes with the kit, I bought a little screw top pot to keep it in… only takes me a second to refill my pen and breaks up my diamond painting :) Awesome video for those that want long lasting ‘grip’ 😊❤

    I've got Blu Tack after watching your video and I loaded it a few times just as it's shown in the video until I decided to loade it the same way as I was loading my pen with the pink wax by pushing through it and it worked perfectly. Though to get Blu Tack a little more sticky after loading it I push the tip of the pen against my thumb to get it warmed up a little. I do the same if the Blu Tack gets less sticky. I usually spend about two hours per day doing diamond painting and I replace Blu Tack maybe once a week. If it gets pushed into the pen I just add a teeny tiny ball of Blu Tack to fill it to the top. Definitely not going back to the pink wax which I had to reload every half hour.

    I am continually trying to find waxes and putty I am happy with. I still use the pink wax cuz it is what I have.i want to support small shops, I just don't which ones are best. I am a hard Placer. That is probably a lot of my trouble. I did order a putty from Etsy, I don't remember who from. I have learned a lot from you and Katie @diamonds &washi. There are a few more I watch on UA-cam, but I can think of names just now

    Hey there, I just found this video! Thanks for sharing! I've been going through stuff like mad trying to find my 'happy medium'. I found it in putty, today actually! I purchased 3000 removable glue dots (it was an economical pack) thinking that would be it for me, but I struggled so much to try to load the pens. The glue dots stuck to everything except the dang dp pens, lol. PaddyWaxx has a super sticky wax, but I've found it too sticky for some canvasses (cheaper glues). I do like to stab my tweezers in the super sticky wax to help me pick up trash bits, though. I just tested putty out and I love it!

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  3 роки тому +2

      I’ve not tried the super sticky wax from PaddyWaxx, but my sweet spot is the glue dots. Loading them is a bit of work, but I can complete a whole canvas with the same dot, so it’s worth it to me. Loading them into multiplacers definitely has a learning curve! Glad the video was helpful. Thanks for watching!

    Wow.. I have watched a couple different wax videos now, and I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.. I must be a super heavy placer, or not loading it right, something. I use DAC wax and seriously can't get more than a few minutes. I thought maybe I'm too heavy handed and it's just pushing the wax up in the pen too far, so I load more, then I get bits of wax all over everything. I tried the blu tak and while it did last a LOT longer than any of the waxes I've tried, yeah, I had that issue where it would get on the canvas and I'd spend 5 minutes trying to clean it off without ruining the stickiness of the canvas, so I went back to the DAC. I guess I'll try glue dots now, and see how that goes.. Pretty sure I have a bunch of those already anyway.. heh I just wish I knew what I was doing wrong, that none of mine last very long, or when I'm actually placing down the drills somehow get squished up inside the multiplacer when I use it.. haha I know it's me.. just have to keep practicing, I suppose.

    I've been having so much trouble with wax getting all over everything. DAC wax, Paddy wax (including the super sticky), another type of etsy wax, uhu tack. Didn't matter, it got everywhere, including my tray, which then made it harder to straighten up the drills. After watching your video, I tried glue dots, and I'm never going back. They are perfect! nothing is getting stuck to my drills! I think they made multiplacing twice as fast because I'm not messing with anything between placing. I used 2 micro dots for the single placer, and maybe 6 or 7 for a 5 multi placer. Any bits that stuck out too far I clipped with fingernail clippers. Thank you so much for the video and advice!

    I love the glue dots. The work really well and last a long time. I dont like paddy wax bec it leave so much wax behind. I end up taking longer just because I'm stopping every time I place diamonds to clean off the wax left behind. So my go to is the glue dots for single placer and pink wax for multi placer. I haven't tried the blue though.

      For single placing, I get that satisfying pop with the glue dots. I’ve yet to find a wax that does that for me. As for the multiplacing, I use museum putty, as I find it works the best, but it doesn’t pop like the glue dots do. I know there are people who use the glue dots in multiplacers, but I thought it was more time consuming than it was worth. Thanks for watching!!

      Blue tack and other putties can be sensitive to heat - if you live in a warm climate or your crafting area is warm, your putty may get too gummy. If that happens to me, I just stick it in the fridge for 5-10 min and let it cool down.

    I find that the full metal tips make the wax last longer, but it depends on how hard you press down with the pen. I've noticed with the cheap tips that come with the usual pink pens, sometimes the wax drops out when reloading with wax. All depends on the quality of the wax too.
    A friend of mine, who happens to be handy with a lathe, made me a metal cap to fit over the tip of my pen when I'm not DPing, so as to prevent the wax from drying out between sessions. However, since purchasing new metal tips, I don't use the cheap tips anymore, so I'm going to have to approach my friend again & see if he can make a new cap to go over my new metal tip.
    Since I've been watching your fabulous videos, you've now inspired me to start using the multiplacers. I've bought them so I might as well give them a go. I'm starting off with the 2-placer first to practice picking up 2 diamonds at a time & with time & practice, hope to progress up to using the 10 placer.
    I love working with squares because it makes the finished picture look more realistic. When I first began DPing a few years ago I used to work with rounds, but now prefer squares. Just a shame some companies cut corners with the quality of the diamonds & make them different sizes. Makes it hard to get them straight, so I can only try me best with how I place the diamonds & then use a straightener to do my best to get them as even-looking as possible.

    • @DiamondPaintingAnonymous
      @DiamondPaintingAnonymous  6 місяців тому

      Keeping drills straight with a multiplacer is definitely a learned skill. I do find it easier to keep the square drills straight, since they line up against each other. Thanks for watching!!

It does take a bit to load it into your pen (truly not all that long) but then you're all set to just go. I don't always spend a ton of hours daily to diamond paint, so I have gotten over a week out of one Glue Dot. I do use the micros. I find 3 micros and a quick snip and it works perfectly. With AB's, you don't want a wax that is super strong; because it will take the AB coating off the drill. Also, when you go to pick AB's up with your pen; try picking the drill on the side edge. Makes it easier.
