Just today I emailed Diamond Art Club regarding drills that are too small to fill the squares. 36 colors only 1 that was not right. I received a response 10 minutes later...NO KIDDING-10 minutes!-to let me know they were sending out replacements. 10 Stars for Diamond Art Club!
Unfortunately I have the opposite problem-the drills are too big-it’s one particular colour-some are ok & others are a fraction bigger so it’s put my lines completely out of whack when I realised! I got a bit stressed trying to fix it so I went to some other colours to de-stress & I’ll let the company know about the problem & see if they’ll send me replacement drills. Thanks for your tips 😊
Hi I'm relatively new to diamond painting, and find these tips really useful, however, I agree with you about not getting hung up on absolute perfection, which can turn an otherwise relaxing hobby into a stress fest. Initially I was getting stressed about diamonds that were not bang on straight, but then I thought, every imperfection is exacerbated by the light pad, when that goes off, any imperfections become nigh on impossible to see unless your examining it through a magnifying glass, and who's going to be doing that when it's hung on the wall? So I would say, aim for the best, but above all have fun....nothing in life is perfect.
This was very helpful. I’ve only been DP-ing since December and I’ve finished 7-all with round drills. Tonight I started my first DAC square drill canvas and I was in tears. I wish I’d watched this video first. Something that brought me joy for 6 weeks was now making me cry. I pushed and pushed and pushed to align those squares so intensely I actually caused my index finger to bleed from gripping the pen so tightly. Okay deep breaths. Tomorrow I will put on a bandaid and try checkerboarding and lifting to align and aiming for the corners. Thank you for all the great advice. ❤
Since my last post I've discovered something which really helped me to keep my darker diamonds evenly spaced. If like me you have black sections with no discernible guiding lines, but you have within those large expanses of black, the odd 'other colour' that you know you placed evenly, then use that 'other colour' as your guide, and work around that colour in the black in a circle like motion (for example, if that :other colour is red then place a black top, left, right and bottom of that red as evenly as you can) keep on going like that, and your blacks will look so much.better! I discovered this just tonight, and was amazed at just how much more evenly my blacks look now than from before!! I wanted to pass this on in the hope it helps other diamond artists out there. I'm thrilled with my discovery! Before I was doing black first, then filling in with the other colours, I now know that by doing the other colours first, they can act as your guiding friends. Happy Diamond painting one and all.
I completed two pictures with round drills and loved it. Just started my first with square ones last night and hated it! These tips addressed all of the things that I hated about it and I am optimistic that I will learn to love square drills using your really helpful tips. Thank you!
You addressed every question. I completed a round DAC and loved it. I completed a partial circle, loved it. Starting on my first large square drill and found your video. Thank you.
So helpful. I have done quite a few small canvases with round drills and decided to treat myself to a large canvas with a picture I want to put on the wall afterwards. Then when I opened it the drills were square and I truly thought I might send it back! But decided not to quit straight off and browse tips on YT. Yours eventually came up and wad super helpful, thank you. Off to buy a light pad.....
Love your video. How do you get your drills neat and in a straight line in tray? Mine are upside up, upside down, on top of one another. I don’t see how I can use the multi-placer. Thank you for all your advice
Thank you for the tips. I saw a lady do one of these at a bar and i was just amazed by it. I figured something I can do. I am currently waiting for mine to arrive from amazon. Supposed to be here today... I am so excited :) I am hoping this will by my relaxation
Thank you so much for the tips with square drills! I've just started my first square drill painting. It's 20x30 so not too big, but I've been going crazy trying to get straight lines. I felt like no matter what I did the drills had a plan of their own. So thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 😀🙏
I wish i had found you before i started my first square drill project. It is a larger pic of the milky way for my husband and i had previously used the round drills. Omg i just couldn’t fathom how to use square drills and made quite a hash of things and literally wanted to cry lol! However since finding help on youtube i have rescued (i think) my project and of all the videos i have watched i particularly love yours, you have a lovely way about you, so i have subscribed..... i mean who knew about light boards and chequer boarding etc without being told. Thank you 🥰🇬🇧
That's cool! I have been very happy with several of their canvases, but I have yet to crack into family status. I think I was a bit "too honest" when I first started my channel. 😂 No shade to them though - they have good, consistent quality and more and more kits that are artistic and well-rendered!
550 is my favourite 💜😍 and I love how the colour codes match up to DMC threads for cross stitching. As soon as you said 939 I knew, dark blue 😅 Thanks for the tips! Would be interested to know where you get your projects from? Happy diamond painting.
Hi, Louise!! I love 550 also!! 939 is a favorite, and I also love 154 for some reason! 😀 There are a couple shops that I love: Distracted by Diamonds on Etsy (I help with some of their licensing, so naturally I’m drawn to their artists) and DIY Moon Shop are my absolute favorites! I also like Treasure Studios Art and think they have really good quality. I also love ordering customs of fine art pieces and vintage images like this one. Ever Moment is my absolute favorite for that purpose. 😀
I've been DPing for about a year and am addicted to it & have to say this video has been great for me to watch because I know exactly what you mean about not trying to work in perfect squares. I left a DP half finished because it made the lines wonky & just ruined it. It was so reaffirming to hear what you said about sometimes drill bits being too small due to manufacturing defect. I hate when drills are like this because the gapping really sucks ha. It's so annoying. I needed to hear you say that. Thanks. I don't shy away from square because I prefer the look but it is a lot harder.
Hi there!! I’m glad to hear I’m not alone in this problem! Too small drills are so obnoxious! I also prefer the look of squares. I wish they could all be perfect!
I watched your 6 hints for diamond art. I found the placing of diamonds dotz like a checker board so helpful. I tried it this evening and my dotz are so lined up in rows. Thank you so much
Thank you for the tips! I’m going to try the light pad! Go figure I took a break and open UA-cam and it’s like it read my mind! This was the first video to pop up! 🤣
Wow!!! thank you so much for your suggestions. Silly me started a medium canvas for an event...a square no less....my FIRST square. I am going to try all of your techniques. I had actually found myself not wanting to diamond paint, I felt anxiety and sickness. I have never felt like this, when it came to diamond painting, Thank you again, for sharing your knowledge!!!
Thank you so much for your tips. They were very helpful. I am subscribing to your channel, because of that and you are so upbeat and kind. We need more people like you in the world, especially with these uncertain times. Thanks again.
Love your tips! I have found tweezers that have a curved end and very pointy tips to be my best friend. I am a lil odd in other ways too! All my life I have done fine electronic works like building hearing aids. So naturally I already had my tool of choice. I have pretty darn good placement and I also find during lockdown, diamond painting keeps my hand-eye coordination up to par. Round ones frustrate me LOL
I’m getting a few extra supplies right now before I start my first square drill piece; you convinced me on the light pad, and I look forward to seeing how it impacts things!
@@tinyworldsofwonder you were right; it’s SO MUCH EASIER with the light pad. Checkerboarding has been essential; do you use your pen for all your placement? I’m finding tweezers helpful for getting that super precise placement with the first round and then using my pen to go back and fill in.
Great tips! Just started my first square drill project and got a little frustrated at first. Thought I couldn't use my multi-placer but you showed how to! Yay. I would not do this without a light pad. Thank you for the tips 😊
I appreciate these tips. I'm hoping to do a picture converted to diamond painting. I want it to be in square drills. If I don't get a different painting this will be my first.
Ive just found this one. What great tips. I always seem to have trouble when multiplacing so will Definitely try it your way. Love the tip for getting rid of the long gap between sections (this always happens to me). I’ve saved this video, thanks so much
I happened upon your channel as I started my first diamond painting, and caught a comment about using a light board. It wasn’t necessary for that first one (which was good, because I was away from home) but boy it was super helpful for the second painting which was blacks and purples, reds and greens. Funny note...the third painting I did was succulents with a white background, and the light board seemed so bright that I had to place a dark piece of card stock over places I wasn’t working because it was hurting my eyes. I accidentally learned on my next piece that my light board is dimmable 😆. Felt like a fool, but look forward to my next light colored work to take advantage of the lowest light setting.
Along with Hama/Perler Beads, Diamond Painting is my addiction xD I love it!!! I'm on my first square drill painting and its so weird haha.....so these tips definitely come in handy as I'm used to the round ones!! Thank you :)
@@tinyworldsofwonder Yeah I am finding them more tricky which is taking me longer! I'm doing a unicorn with a black background and if I was using the round drills I would have the black almost done by now (I only have managed some of the bottom with the square drills) xD and it doesn't help that the squares aren't the same size so its looking wonky! But I really do find this relaxing!!
hi, i just found your channel and these tips are very helpful. my very first painting was a square, a horse i did for my mom. i did have problems keeping everything straight. but now i know what do for the next one. thank you for sharing!
I checkerboard everything. Not only does it help with straightening but its satisfying putting the middles in. Also I like to take one drill and press the corner down on the other drill next to it before I lay it completely down. I also never use the multi placer on squares. These are the tips ibe found helpful
Super helpful tips, thank you! I’ve been hesitant to get a light pad, but I think I’m now convinced, especially for identifying those dark colors that are intermingled.
I never tried doing one with out a light pad since I purchased one along with my first diamond painting but I could never imagine working with out one. Its by far the most useful tool in diamond painting in my opinion plus its super useful for other projects. I can assure you a light pad is the last thing you should be hesitant on buying. They're cheap and normally if you buy one from Amazon you can get a decent one with a ton of useful accessories for diamond painting for under $20.
I second Tenessa! I have my Amazon LED pad since I started, and it's still going strong after 4 years! I would suggest avoiding the kind you have to charge, but overall they're fabulous!!
Thanks so much for the tips. Only problem i had was being able to see. If you could zoom in sometimes I think it would help a lot. I hope I don't come off as rude. Your advice is extremely helpful
Not at all! I admit my set up is a bit rudimentary for now since I don't have a dedicated craft area. It is basically my iphone rubber banded to a dowel perched on a stack of books and a trash can. LOL!!!! Look at me sharing all the secrets of my fabulous cinematography! :)
I am so happy that I started with two canvases with round drills. The second one was already much better than the first one so the third one will be a really big one with squares. 😳 I Kit up today so we will we how it goes tomorrow, your tips are definitively really helpful!
I am fairly new to diamond painting and these tips help so much! The tip about the light colors, I had no idea how to fix the gapping problem. I had noticed it on the painting I just finished that the tan colors and creams show gaps more. Also like the tip about getting a drill straight after you’ve already placed it. I’ve been trying to push them into place and they just spring right back where I first put it! 😮 Using tweezers seems like it will take longer, but if it fixes it I’m all for it and ready to try! 😊 Thank you for your helpful video ❤
Thoroughly enjoyed your video. You're a wonderful teacher so I've subscribed. Great tips. I wanted a refresher on checkboard and you explained it so it's easy to understand. Thanks!
For anyone who wants to invest in diamond painting tools, I would highly recommend a straightening tool alongside the tips in this video! They work super well for me, but you could also use something like a thin ruler to straighten up lines :D
I recently just ordered my first diamond painting. In some areas, I feel really intimidated with the canvas size (75x50cm) and feeling like I went too big for my first painting. In the meantime I’m watching tons of diamond painting tip videos in hopes I won’t fail.
Hi there!! Welcome to this fun hobby! I think it's great to do a nice big canvas at first rather than a smaller one that may not turn out the way you had hoped. :) My first was a 50x65, and it turned out so well that I was hooked! You've got this!! :)
Just started and I’m hooked, of course! This is a great video. I am on my second DP with rounds and ordered a square that will be here soon, I hope. Would you recommend that I just do the checkerboard for the entire DP since it will be my first attempt?
Sharon Pernes Hi, Sharon! Welcome to the addiction! I definitely recommend checkerboarding all your light colors. If your drills are nice and square and really uniform, your dark colors would be a great place to practice some multi placing. If they’re not quite uniform, checkerboarding would be a great idea for all your colors. I hope that helps! Good luck with everything!
Hi I received in the mail last week an order in this order was my 2nd square ever! Lol ordered it thinking it was round. Now I'm not upset, only a 30 × 40 so not to big. But it is a little dark. I think I'm just going to admirer it for a bit whilst I do the others 😁
Hi, Darlene! This came from Sadie's Hand Turned Diamond Painting Pens on Facebook. :) If you search that name, her group should pop up. I know she is on Instagram as well. I really like this one!!
Hello. Can you tell me what the name is of the kit you are working on in this video? Your square still placement is amazing and with your video I am working up the nerve to start my first Square drill. I have been diamond painting for a while now but only on rounds. Thanks so much for your great tips and tricks.
Wonderful video! I personally don't like squares. I am doing a square dp now and it is giving me a lot of headaches. Popping drills. A lot of the drills have tiny pieces sticking out. they do fit pretty tight too.
Go to Joanns or Michaels and pick up a small diamond dots to work with while you wait. It will give you something to do and you will learn a little in the meantime.
Got my first kit in and it's square drills, and the pen I have doesn't seem to like square drills, so I've just been using tweezers. I'm STILL not putting them on straight lol. I'll give these tips a try tonight, though. Also, I have a hard time with the wax coming out or sticking to the drill rather than staying in the pen. Overall, it's been a mess, but I'm gonna keep trying.
It definitely takes some practice, but don’t give up yet! 🥰 Some waxes are stickier than others too. If I’m working with a lot of coated drills I find blue tack actually works better than the pink wax. It’s all a bit of trial and error. 🥰
Hi. Love your tips. I have my first square drill. I started it then I put it up because I just couldn’t see to do it. I ordered a light pad but I found that when I pulled back the paper the glue pulled off from the canvas and it now on the paper. Should I try ironing it to get it to go back on the canvas or do you have a suggestion.
Oh no, Carol! You could try burnishing it down really well with a credit card or something similar. If that doesn't work, I would definitely contact the seller because that sounds like a canvas defect to me. I'm sorry to hear that! :(
Thanks for the tips, gonna try them all out 😊 I’ve just started a portrait canvas if my mum n dad’s wedding photo and I have to say it has caused me a Ton of stress 😤 for the first 3-4 days .. I dropped a tray of drills on the canvas and had to pick them off individually and whilst doing this with the tweezers they were pinging off in all directions ( I would later find them with my feet 😖) I absolutely Hated doing it with a passion and couldn’t understand anyone could do this for fun lol must be out of their minds 🤪 It’s a Massive size canvas to do as a first project and feel like I’m never gonna finish it (size of the canvas it 50x60 cm) Anyways I am getting better at it and it is less stressful but I am still looking for shortcuts all the time lol 😂 I’ve just brought a mesh ruler (Hope that wasn’t a mistake 🙄) Thanks again for yr tips 👍🏽
Oh noooooo!!! I have SO done that!! It does rather spoil the vibe. 😢 I’m sorry!! I promise it hets easier. You are starting big! Wishing you a more relaxing experience!
I'm working on a square drill painting and it seems hard to put the drills on straight. I will try these tips and i do have a light pad that may help. This is my first square painting and it makes me frustrated. I will have to look at your video as i work on the painting. I will let you know how it works. Thanks for the tips, i thought it was me, but it may be the drills. They are a lot smaller than the round drills.
Yes, let me know! Some square drills are more uniform than others, and uneven squares can really make it difficult. With good square drills, placement takes a little practice, but I think it's totally worth it for the result they give! :)
I didn't need this video, but first off I had to watch in support of you & you channel & second, I know there are those who struggle or are intimidated so I'm glad you shared this! Rooting for you to finish by Xmas this year! #Puck2020
Naturegirl is correct. They're called cover minders, and they come with two magnets attached to the back. One magnet goes behind the canvas and keeps the paper from getting in your way. There are all kinds of fun ones on Etsy. :)
I just ordered my first one, square drills, and like 105cmx70cm, intimidated is an understatement 😂😂 I think I made a mistake and went TOO BIG!! Unfortunately shipping is taking forever with the pandemic and I won’t get it for probably at least another month 😭 so in the meantime I’m binge watching UA-cam tutorials so hopefully I don’t epically fail
Thank you, you have confirmed what I thought was just me: nudging the drills into place doesn't work. Too late for what I have already done and your idea of checkerboarding -- really, with any color -- enables me to go in with my tweezers and lift the drill. I have been dping for almost a year and I kept thinking that my squares would straighten with more experience, but that wasn't happening. Thanks.
Thanks for the tip in the square drills. I’m new to this hobby and it seems like I’m drawn to the square drills. I’ve done three round pictures which were easy but I have quite a few square. I buy from diamond art club the drills look more consistent. Again thank you.
Thank you for the tips. They were very helpful. I have done quite a few diamond paintings but this one I'm doing now is my first square one so my question is, what is the best way to lay them if you have large areas that are all a dark color such as black?
@@tinyworldsofwonder Thanks for the reply. That is exactly how I do it with the round ones but I am having issues getting them to turn over and line up in the tray. Guess I'll just keep trying. Thanks again!
@@shannonlarson1856 Gotcha! I see what you're saying. If the square drills are slightly irregular or have some trash, lining them up can be really challenging. I have a hard time in that case as well. My only real advice is to keep shaking until you get something resembling rows, and then remove any irregular drills. They sometimes take forever to line up! Wishing you the best of luck with the canvas! :)
I’m a little disappointed that I didn’t get a multi placer with my diamond paintings. I don’t know if it’s rare to get them when you buy one but I think that I can make it without one right?😅 It’s just a 30x40 so I think I’ll be able to make it. But I’ve heard that the square ones are more difficult than the round ones and I didn’t get the information which type of diamonds it was. So now I have the square ones and I just have to try I guess!😊
Hi, Kicki! You've totally got this! I think with square canvases it's actually easier to use a single placer. Some brands seem to come with them and some without, and I'm not sure there's a rhyme or reason to whether they include one or not. You may be able to snag some extra placers on Ali Express if you decide you need one. :) Best of luck with your project!
Hey Jessica! What tray are you using? The ones I have are a great size, but the lines are slightly off and the drills don’t slide nicely... drives me nuts when changing up colors🙈🤗✨💎✨
Their customer service really is second to none, and their canvases are really top notch. And they license their work! I agree - 10 stars!
Man the one I am working on i have the same problem. Oh well.

@@tinyworldsofwonder you were right; it’s SO MUCH EASIER with the light pad. Checkerboarding has been essential; do you use your pen for all your placement? I’m finding tweezers helpful for getting that super precise placement with the first round and then using my pen to go back and fill in.
@@marykatemcnally2653 Awesome! I do use the pen for all mine, but I can see how the tweezers would make things even straighter!! 🥰
Great tips! Just started my first square drill project and got a little frustrated at first. Thought I couldn't use my multi-placer but you showed how to! Yay. I would not do this without a light pad. Thank you for the tips 😊
I'm so pleased it was helpful! I hope you have a wonderful time!
I appreciate these tips. I'm hoping to do a picture converted to diamond painting. I want it to be in square drills. If I don't get a different painting this will be my first.
Ive just found this one. What great tips. I always seem to have trouble when multiplacing so will
Definitely try it your way. Love the tip for getting rid of the long gap between sections (this always happens to me). I’ve saved this video, thanks so much
I'm so glad it was helpful, Andrea!
Thanks. Your tips have really transformed my diamond paintings
Thanks so much, Holly! That makes my day!! :)
Hi, Erika!! I'm so glad the light pad was helpful! It's so nice when they have those adjustable settings too. Happy diamond painting!!
Along with Hama/Perler Beads, Diamond Painting is my addiction xD I love it!!! I'm on my first square drill painting and its so weird haha.....so these tips definitely come in handy as I'm used to the round ones!! Thank you :)
Emma P Thanks, Emma!! The squares are a bit tricky at first for sure! I hope you have a blast!! 😀
Trudi B Thanks, Trudi!! I am glad this was helpful, and I’m so glad you’re planning a next one! 😀
I checkerboard everything. Not only does it help with straightening but its satisfying putting the middles in. Also I like to take one drill and press the corner down on the other drill next to it before I lay it completely down. I also never use the multi placer on squares. These are the tips ibe found helpful
Those are great suggestions! Thanks so much for sharing! :)
I smashed the Like button, and have saved this video and its companion video to my DP play list. Thanks for all the great info in this short video!
Hi, Linnea! Thanks so much! :)
@@tinyworldsofwonder you're welcome, thank you for all you do for our Community!
I am so happy that I started with two canvases with round drills. The second one was already much better than the first one so the third one will be a really big one with squares. 😳 I Kit up today so we will we how it goes tomorrow, your tips are definitively really helpful!
How exciting! Wishing you lots of fun on your new adventure! :)
@@tinyworldsofwonder thank you! I‘m already halfway done and love the square drills! 😊
Hi there! I'm so pleased you found the video helpful! Wishing you all the best on your journey! :)
Thank you! Getting ready to start my first square diamond project. These tips were very helpful.👍
I'm so glad, Connie! Best of luck with your project! :)
Yay, you did it...again! Yes!!! Now I can send my friends the link to your video tutorial. Thanks Jessica 🌹💝
Viv S Thanks for the great suggestion! 🥰

I'm so glad it was helpful, Lisa!
I wanna try that. It looks interesting.
Thanks much for the tips, so helpful for newbies like me.👍❤️😊
I am so glad it was helpful, Leonila! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed your video. You're a wonderful teacher so I've subscribed. Great tips. I wanted a refresher on checkboard and you explained it so it's easy to understand. Thanks!
Thanks so much, Linda! That is so kind! I am thrilled that you enjoyed the video! Welcome to the channel - it's great having you!
Best tips I’ve seen, thank you!
Thanks so much, Carla! I'm so glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for doing this video. I learned a few things I didnt know to do.
Sereba Henry Thank you, Sereba! I am glad it was helpful!
Just started DP 3 mos. ago & this was super helpful!
I'm so glad, Maria!! Thanks so much for checking it out! :)
Great tips thank you so much 😊
For anyone who wants to invest in diamond painting tools, I would highly recommend a straightening tool alongside the tips in this video! They work super well for me, but you could also use something like a thin ruler to straighten up lines :D
Very informative! Thank you!
Thanks so much, Laurie!
Very useful tips, thanks 😊
My pleasure, Nia! So glad it was helpful!
I recently just ordered my first diamond painting. In some areas, I feel really intimidated with the canvas size (75x50cm) and feeling like I went too big for my first painting. In the meantime I’m watching tons of diamond painting tip videos in hopes I won’t fail.
I’m hopefully ordering mine tomorrow! I’m super excited to try it out!
Hi there!! Welcome to this fun hobby! I think it's great to do a nice big canvas at first rather than a smaller one that may not turn out the way you had hoped. :) My first was a 50x65, and it turned out so well that I was hooked! You've got this!! :)
Exciting, Gary!! (Great username BTW.) Best of luck with your project!
Tiny Worlds of Wonder thank you! I can’t wait to get started, and you’ve given some great tips 😊
Hi
I received in the mail last week an order in this order was my 2nd square ever!
Lol ordered it thinking it was round. Now I'm not upset, only a 30 × 40 so not to big. But it is a little dark. I think I'm just going to admirer it for a bit whilst I do the others 😁
angelique wickes You've got this, Angelique! That dark stuff can get tedious though! Best of luck with it!
Great and useful tips thank you so much
Thanks so much, Claudia!
Great tips. Thank you.
You are so welcome! So glad it was helpful!
LOVE your purple/blue pen! Where can I get one like yours?
Kathleen White Ugh, sorry, Kathleen! I admit that nothing can go wrong like a square drill canvas can go wrong. 😢
Try a better quality company for square, makes alot of those small headaches go away.
Thank you so much. This was very helpful.
Pamela Sertich I'm so glad! Thanks for watching! 😀
Great tips! Any suggestions for drills popping up? I absolutely love the look of square drills, It’s driving me insane.
Oh no!! Usually this is a drill sizing problem from the manufacturer. The best course of action is usually to see if you can get a replacement kit. :(
@@tinyworldsofwonder Thank you so much! I will reach out to the company. Thank you for your reply.
Thank you, Jessica, for another great video. I am sharing it on my facebook business page and my group.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! :) I hope everything is going well with the store! :)

I am so glad, Catherine! You have a great day too! :)
Great tips. Thanks 🙏😊
Thanks so much! :)
Thank you for the tips!! I’m about to start my first BIG DP, 80x80 with square drills, and was wondering best way to approach it.
My pleasure, Nana!! Best of luck with that beautiful monster! :)
@@tinyworldsofwonder 😊
Thanks for the great tips. I have 3 custom orders coming with square drills I'm going to apply your tips to them.
Maralana Baird Awesome! I’m so glad this was helpful!
Go to Joanns or Michaels and pick up a small diamond dots to work with while you wait. It will give you something to do and you will learn a little in the meantime.
Still working on my 1st, but i actually have brought a Diamond Art Club , which has squares, so thank you for these tips! Vickie from SE Pa
My pleasure, Vickie!
I love this vintage mag cover--i just ordered it @ 40x53.. thanks for your tips...on square drills...
hugs Julierose
Awesome!! I am glad this was helpful! :)
Thank you for this video! You have helped me so much, definitely going to try these tips on my next Square DP! Thank you and have a great day! 😊
Melissa B Craft with Me Thanks, Melissa! I am so glad!
Thank you this is very helpful
Thank you, Jane!
Thanks for the tips, gonna try them all out 😊
I’ve just started a portrait canvas if my mum n dad’s wedding photo and I have to say it has caused me a Ton of stress 😤 for the first 3-4 days .. I dropped a tray of drills on the canvas and had to pick them off individually and whilst doing this with the tweezers they were pinging off in all directions ( I would later find them with my feet 😖)
I absolutely Hated doing it with a passion and couldn’t understand anyone could do this for fun lol must be out of their minds 🤪
It’s a Massive size canvas to do as a first project and feel like I’m never gonna finish it (size of the canvas it 50x60 cm)
Anyways I am getting better at it and it is less stressful but I am still looking for shortcuts all the time lol 😂 I’ve just brought a mesh ruler (Hope that wasn’t a mistake 🙄)
Thanks again for yr tips 👍🏽
Oh noooooo!!! I have SO done that!! It does rather spoil the vibe. 😢 I’m sorry!! I promise it hets easier. You are starting big! Wishing you a more relaxing experience!
You're the best ...Thanks
My pleasure! I am glad this was helpful! :)
This was super helpful! 🙂
I am so glad!! Thanks for checking it out!! 😀
I use a ruler for square and round drills good investment love them they get nice and straight
Colleen Stevenson Nice! I haven’t seen square drill rulers - where did you get yours? Or is it just a straight edge?
I didn't need this video, but first off I had to watch in support of you & you channel & second, I know there are those who struggle or are intimidated so I'm glad you shared this! Rooting for you to finish by Xmas this year! #Puck2020
Ha ha!! Yes! This canvas is ginormous!! Thanks for all your support - I really appreciate it! :)
What are those adorable little weights you are using to keep the cover paper down?
Cover minders
You are a brave soul!! LOL! You will have a blast though! I hope all arrives as expected (eventually!), and let me know how you get on! :)
Has it arrived yet?
Wow! Very big! I always said that ya can not go too big. Well i did..... 140x100.. oh and a 4 month old haha
Kind of dumb question. Drill is flat on one side yes pointed on other. What does the flat side go toward canvas or facing up
Not a dumb question! The flat side goes down toward the canvas. :)
Thanks for the tips
You are welcome, Shewanna!! :)
Thanks.
So glad this was helpful! You're very welcome!
Thanks for the tip in the square drills. I’m new to this hobby and it seems like I’m drawn to the square drills. I’ve done three round pictures which were easy but I have quite a few square. I buy from diamond art club the drills look more consistent. Again thank you.
My pleasure! I am so glad it was helpful! Yes, DAC is a very reputable company! Good choice! 😀
Thank you for the tips. They were very helpful. I have done quite a few diamond paintings but this one I'm doing now is my first square one so my question is, what is the best way to lay them if you have large areas that are all a dark color such as black?
Shannon Larson Hi, Shannon! My pleasure! I love to multiplace my dark colors - the more at once the better! 😀
Tiny Worlds of Wonder Thank you very much for the answer! Yes I think I may get some soon 😊
Tiny Worlds of Wonder And also fun fact, the painting was 20x20 so it couldn’t
get any better! 😂
Thanks love i was just asking someone about this topic the other day!
I'm so glad it was useful! 😀 Thanks for watching!
Hi, Great video as always!. Thank you for the tips.
Coral Gonzalez Thanks, Coral!!
Thank you very helpful
Thank you, Tricia! Sorry for the late reply - UA-cam hid your comment from me. :)
Hey Jessica! What tray are you using? The ones I have are a great size, but the lines are slightly off and the drills don’t slide nicely... drives me nuts when changing up colors🙈🤗✨💎✨
Debbie G Hi, Debbie! This is a tray from Ever Moment that I have been using since my first DP. I love it!!
Hi! How do you get so many drills lined up in your tray at once?
cateyesmd The better the drills the easier this is, but just keep shakin’! I also tilt my tray a bit as I shake. 😀
Tiny Worlds of Wonder agreed! One I started on a DAC one I could see the difference. 👍🏾 the two I’ve complained were non -DAC.
Thank you.
