I live in Amish country in Michigan and I love seeing their way and life and sense of community. My kids love watching the horses go by and waving to the kids in the buggies. This is the first episode of yours I have watched and I feel connected all ready. I am trying to find a way to bring myself and my family into a simple life, I feel called to it as well. Trying to figure out how that will work while working fulltime has been a challenge but I'm hoping to find my way soon. 😁
So glad you are following along - welcome!
one small thing at a time - just pick one small thing to do and they will add up over time. My husband works full time as well.
@@havenhillhomestead156 we are getting baby chick's in a few months and starting a small garden this year to preserve up. Baby steps! 😊
perfect places to start! You will never regret learning slowly and taking baby steps!
OMG I absolutely LOVE Beechy’s!!! How fun!!! I live 6 hours away so I obviously can’t make it there often. I love the owner. She is the sweetest! I absolutely LOVE Arthur and Arcola! They are such gorgeous towns!

You are amazing and your family is amazing. Just keep up the good work as you are an inspiration to everyone who's trying to find the natural way , the healthy way, the Safeway for a strong as a family. You Are Not Alone in this journey, God be with you always and thank you so much for popping up on my feed.
Your words are SO encouraging! Thank you for taking the time to say all of that! XO
I'm in Michigan surrounded by Amish and I absolutely love learning more about them ❤️🙌
Love that and Same just in IL - so fascinating!
I live near Mio Michigan for years but had to move back near our kids because of hubby health just too much for me to keep up by myself.
Keep up the good work of keeping your family healthy and fed well 🧡🧡
thank you!! XO
So glad that your video popped up on my feed... Love how you are showing all the places.. New subscriber..
Thanks for subbing and welcome to the journey!
Use some whipping cream along with your water for grits, not the entire amount about a 1/3 of the liquid portion at the most and it’s divine grits!!
LOVE reading this - thank you and I absolutely will try it - no one has ever mentioned this to me before!
I moved from Illinois to Florida 24 years ago and used to live about 30-45 minutes from Beachy's. Made a trip home a few years ago and visited there and the Amish Buffet. Loved seeing it again!
That is awesome!
Yoder's buffett...nothing better
I love your commitment to the simple life.
thanks so much! XO
Love beachy’s. You should check out Country salvage, which is an Amish discount store not to far done the road.

I love Rachel Weaver! Watching your video, I was like are we the same person!! 😊
I love Azure Standard but your right with the shortages. I have been wanting the big bag of Redmond salt but they have been out, today I went to a Mennonite community and they had it, $2 more but totally worth it!
Not sure who Rachel Weaver is - I will check her out - but I love Redmond salt - thank you - totally worth it
Beautiful country. We live near an Amish community and we love going and buying their food and other products. We buy all our horse feed and hay there. Actually it's cheaper than a COOP and Tractor Supply. Love watching your video's. I live in Tennessee so we have so many Amish stores to choose from.
I’m hoping we are headed there again in a couple of weeks - I’m really eager to get all of our feed there as well. 🤍
Thank YOU for your input!!
I grew up in the area. My dad grew up Amish. Went to Beachy’s all the time. I live 3 hours away now. So every chance I get to visit my parents I always go to Beachy’s.
Fascinating! Beachy's is such a great place!
Next time you are in the area if you haven’t already try out Shady Crest Farm Market, Das Schlacht Haus (butcher house) and Yoder’s restaurant. There is a lot to do and see and would make a great day trip.
Love Amish community. You can get so many bargains from the bulk stores they have. Such hood quality. We live near Shipshewana IN. Lots of shops to go to. We just found out about Azure Standard. Gonna start using them first of the yr. I think they have amazing prices.
That is awesome!
My son lives near Beachys..it is a very interesting store...enjoyed it immensely..
we agree - fun place to visit
Agreed; a beautiful, simple life is our dream too.

FYI..I use rolled oat to make flour..as a diabetic..it doesn't cause my blood sugar spike! And it's gluten free!

❤ well, what an interesting haul! This is certainly different, so thank you for sharing with us. Always nice to know what other people do. That is different from the conventional world. ❤
thank you! Definitely a good Time in our world to get creative and think a bit differently! XO
Good morning Haven Hill Homestead. What a haul. Everything looks absolutely delicious. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving. There's nothing better than food bought from your local farmers' market.
Thank you! You too! and I cannot agree more!!
@@havenhillhomestead156 You're quite welcome. That being said, have a wonderful Sunday and a great week.
Wonderful video ♥️♥️♥️ !!!! It's awesome to support someone local. I purchase at our local Amish and Mennonite stores.
Thanks for sharing!! Love hearing that!
I’m glad you have a large family it’s less lonely ❤I am single 60 years old female I cherish my one adult daughter and my grandson
your words are so encouraging! Thank you!!
I worked with the Amish on a farm and every morning I could smell their body odor extremely bad. I learned from an ex Amish that Amish don’t bathe often. It rather turned me away from buying their homemade foods. Not judging but cleanliness is next to Godliness they say. After that smell I couldn’t do it anymore.
I can see where that would be very hard
There is just 2 of us but I buy in bulk because we have 14 grandbabies our 2 kids and their spouses and 2 great grandchildren so I want to have stuff in stock if they decide to come over. Plus I hate shopping so I get a large quantity when I go lol.
This is not only how I am now because we have a large family, but I really desire to be just as you - ready for anything when family comes over! XO
Great Haul! Love bulk buying! We have an Amish store near us, and they have great products too.
love it!
Should also add...my hubby grew up horse and buggy mennonite....so I've had a front row seat in learning all about his community.
how fascinating!!!
Depends on the size of your family.
very true!
I like your content and appreciate the time you put in for us! Can you tell me when you are filming why you look to the side and not at the camera? I can’t figure this out!
thanks so much! honestly, I have been having issues with my cameras focus so Im usually watching the screen to see if it focused or not - not impressed with my canon so far - but will keep trying!
We have a amish community here in Ill Arthur is the town they always have great deals. Love shopping there
such a great place! I cannot wait to head back soon
Omg hilarious, what a scatterbrain! But at least she is trying to the best for her family.
I definitely am sometimes!! my mind goes a million miles a minute and always has.
If you use a lot of spices, i suggest checking out Atlantic Spice Co. I think the orders over 50.00 may be shipped free. They sell mostly by the pound. The prices are very cheap and the variety is amazing.
so good to know - I will check them out - thank you, I really appreciate you mentioning this!
Used those wash clothes for several years, nice!
LOVE them - cannot wait to grab more next time!
I am new to your channel. Love how simple and peaceful. ❤😊

Check out Azure Standard for good prices on bulk items.

Welcome!! So happy you are here!
You should have stopped at county salvage just down the road from becheys next time check it out they bag your groceries up in brown paper bags and they help you take it to your car
A few people have told me that - that is on our list to stop there first next time… Thank you for mentioning that!!

I live 15 minutes away from Beachy’s and really enjoy shopping there.
you are kidding?? How wonderful!
They have mini fried pies every Friday. Amazing!
HOW cool, I used to live in Lacaster Pa and didnt see anything like this or at least I didnt see but that was a loge time ago. Anyway new sub here thank you for sharing!
It was pretty amazing!! Thanks for following along!
Shady Crest is the shop you stopped to eat at I believe. Awesome sandwiches.
really? Good to know - I will pay better attention next time - it was absolutely delicious!
I grow my cabbages, shred most, but I freeze it all, it keeps for ages. Have you calculated you 1 & 1/2 hour drive of fuel costs into your comparison with Azure?? And no, I am not advocating for Azure, I live in Australia. I just know fuel prices need to be factored in. I can see you work hard for your wonderful family ….. good for you!
Such great questions! I have never tried to freeze cabbage - that is so good to know! Thank you!
Not sure exactly for mileage vs. Azure - I should calculate it more exact.
I have lived in this area for over 50 yrs. You should check out Miller's dry goods also.
thank you for that - I am adding it to my list for when Jase and I go next
There are other Amish stores in the area that sell bulk foods too! And the meat shop and bakery is soooo good.
First time watching your channel!! Not sure where you live, but I know that Beachy's is in Illinois. I live in southern Indiana, if your in the southern part of your state, you might check and see if some of the stores in Indiana would be closer to you?
so good to know - I will check that out!
I live near this store. There is another Amish country store in the country in that area. Look it up. Country Salvage Store
I absolutely will look up the Salvage Store!
Pretty mama....😁💕👍
I love in central Illinois, about 45 mins from Arthur. Where are you located?
We are located in the greater Bloomington area. Such a great place!
Cabbages are so good and an amazing brain food. 🧠
Have you heard of Azure Standard for bulk food. Check it out online.
Yes I have - just have had orders changed because of shortages so I found in person easier and more reliable in this season
My favorite place to shop is close to Beachys its Country Salvage Store. I just happened upon your channel and am curious which area you live in!
We are Central IL - and we love Beachys!
hi enjoy watching the video greetings from the netherlands

Surprised you don’t order from azure standard would love to hear what you Hav to say about pricing. There are only two of us but with health issues I think food is very important.
I actually have and even have an account with them, but my orders have been changed because of shortages so I found it easier to do Bulk orders other places. I do have a friend that might be a drop off so I may try again
Hi! New subscriber here. Really enjoyed the content 😊😊
welcome! Thanks so much for subscribing - XO
If yu don’t like cereal can you make your own version of granola
YES!! We have done this as well!
I found your channel by accident. Then I hear you talking about ein corn and celiac, gluten problems.
There's something for you to consider... if they really are amish and if that's amish food, then its probably(?)(ask first) if they aren't using pesticides, or neocintoids, or like round up etc in the farm grown foods. This means you might not react to their food like you would with normal food. (Its not guaranteed that all Amish won't be using chemicals because there's bad amish and good amish. But there would be a higher chance of this.)
An example of this... there's a lot of people that have been having food allergies their whole live including gluten problems and when they go to other countries that aren't using all the chemicals and crap in their farming they can eat the stuff that they couldn't here. Mysterious isn't it?
Also people who come over here from other countries, they'll say the same food here that they ate in their country makes them bloated and feel bad inside when they eat our food.
...
So it may be worth it to see if your family members with celiac, and gluten can eat the normal amish grown corn rather than a special brand? A lot of people that have food allergies are reacting to the chemical crap in it. Like we've had people in our family react badly to wheat all the time, then not pass for wheat allergic at the clinic tests. (So they were really reacting to the chemical crap.)
Also it may be worth it for you to still try to go the distance for the amish farms, because the food problems in the US are getting worse not better. The FDA approved lab grown chicken meat last week. Imagine the fun that will do to our bodies. There's other things they are implementing also with so many problems with the food. If you have access to clean chemically free food, it would be good to try and see if it can work for you.
Also you could start your own backyard gardens. Then you'll know for sure its chemical free if you don't use them.
This country has a lot of problems. You're better off trying to grow what you can. Also store up. The socialists are shutting down farms in some states.
Some people in our family have trouble with gluten and celiac stuff.
...
It is crazy isn't it?!? We actually do have a massive garden and are starting to raise our own meat as well. I couldn't believe it when I read about the lab grown chicken - Insanity!
I appreciate all of your feed back!! Thanks so much
no problem. thank you for the reply.
We've been gardening for a few years. but now part of what I'm working on now is trying to learn how to store and preserve it. This part I don't feel like I know very well. Also still working on new vegetables sometimes, there's still many things to learn. its intimidating to think about. Even tho I know a few things still feel lacking despite a lot of effort.
I forgot to mention they are already doing cricket farming now. 5 years ago openly in germany, and its headed over here. So they want to replace the store meat with bugs, because you can grow 1 lb of crickets/roaches from 1.5 to 1.7 pounds of feed, whereas chickens take roughly 2.5 pounds of feed per pound grown, and worse for sheep, cattle.
What oils are you using for perfume?
my favorites are Bergamot and ylang yang - both good for hormones
New viewer watching from SOUTHERN IRELAND 🇮🇪
Did you have a reason for cancelling Amazon
Margaret Lynch
Hello from Ireland - how amazing to have you here! Just trying to go local so much more! Amazon became too easy to just click - I want to support small and local whenever I can
What does your daughter eat when you make pasta?
Depends on what type of noodles I make - we don't have Celiac In our family so sometimes just small amounts settle okay if we aren't eating tons of Gluten on a daily basis. And we always have salads and vegetables too - and most of my kids LOVE loaded salads!
Please link your earrings. 💛
DIY is coming in January 🤍
Not a fan of the Amish..They are the largest puppy millers on the east coast.Ive fostered so many of their cast offs.
that can be true - but not always! I do agree though - not fan of puppy mills
nice look
Thank you 😊
check out Azure
I have - just found this a bit more reliable in this season of shortages

I think the same way as you. Freedom. I think it's more like Mennonite then Amish. I wouldn't want to live in the confines of old testament rules like they do. Through Christ we have that freedom to not live like that. But yes I do crave the simple life.
Yes!!! Cannot agree more
99.999% of the time the word "actually" can and should be eliminated. My husband Jason actually does most of the cooking vs. My husband Jason does most of the cooking. NO DIFFERENCE. Over and unnecessary use is a filler.
thanks for the input - still have lots to learn in this space!
