I've never seen Monkeypox spread like this before

  • Monkeypox is spreading around the globe in a way that hasn't been spread before. Scientists at CDC collaborate with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health officials to investigate a situation in which a U.S. resident tested positive for monkeypox on May 18 after returning to the U.S. from Canada. They’re also tracking multiple clusters of monkeypox cases reported this month in several countries that don’t usually report monkeypox, including Europe and North America. This is why it becomes such a concern.
It’s not clear how people in those clusters were exposed to the monkeypox virus, but some of the known causes include people who self-identify as men who have sex with men.
So let's jump into what monkeypox is and the most important things you need to know - what causes it, how to prevent it, the symptoms, and its treatment. Monkeypox is an orthopoxvirus, and it was first isolated in the late 1950s from a colony of sick monkeys. The virus itself is basically the brother of the smallpox virus, but person-to-person spread and mortality are MUCH smaller compared to smallpox. It is widely believed that the monkeypox virus has infected humans for thousands of years in sub-Saharan Africa but wasn’t actually identified as a cause of disease in HUMANS until the 1970s in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Of all the reported 59 cases in the 1970s, 17% of them died.
How did these individuals get it?
They were exposed to small forest animals, like rodents, squirrels, and monkeys.
With the African outbreak from 1996 to 1998, the mortality rate was 5%. The first outbreak of monkeypox in the Western Hemisphere occurred in the United States in 2003. This virus is typically acquired through contact with an infected animal's bodily fluids or through a bite. Monkeys and humans are incidental hosts. The most likely culprit animal for being the reservoir host…rodents. Including prairie dogs.
That US outbreak in 2003 consisted of 71 cases in the US; they identified and traced the infection back to prairie dogs, which appeared to have acquired the virus from African rodents when the two species were housed at a distribution center in Illinois. It’s also important to note that a complex exposure, such as a bite wound from an infected animal, is more likely to cause severe infection than a non-complex exposure, such as simply touching the prairie dog. Although person-to-person transmission could not be excluded, most human cases had direct exposure to animals.
But unfortunately, Human-to-human transmission can also occur. One way is via large respiratory droplets. But unlike COVID, the virus isn’t really good at spreading this way. For example, droplet transmission likely requires prolonged face-to-face contact for 3+ hours. This virus is more likely to spread when close contact with infectious skin lesions, especially during sex.
All in all, most of those cases were identified in men who have sex with men. So what happens if you get the virus? The incubation time, meaning the time of exposure to the time of developing the illness, is about 12 days….but most monkeypox infections are asymptomatic. If you do get symptoms, you’re looking for fevers, chills, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes, with the famous painful, non-itchy rash you see in all the pictures. Typically, about 2 days after the fever starts, the rash appears on the chest and back and spreads outward to the palms and soles of the feet. The lesions are around 0.5 to 1 centimeter in size. They start out as spots and then progress over the next few weeks to form vesicles and pustules, and in the end, they scab up and slough off.

If I remember correctly, the remaining samples of smallpox were destroyed so they couldn't be weaponized. Presumably the vaccine was discarded and now there's nothing left, so work on Monkeypox would have to start from scratch?
Was smallpox vaccine the scratches that often left a light scar on the left shoulder?

Doc, I have 2 questions which seem to have no answer anywhere. Every article I came across with the title "everything you need to know about monkeypox" or something like that seems to address everything about monkeypox besides these 2 questions:
    1) Does one infection give you "natural immunity" for life? And if it does, does this immunity apply to other pox viruses such as smallpox or cowpox? (because cowpox gave immunity against smallpox -and itself-, therefore it's safe to assume that monkeypox does the same).
    2) Does the monkeypox virus remain dormant in one's body/system? And if it does, could it reactivate later? (Like the herpes zoster virus)

    • @moxusgaming6404
      @moxusgaming6404 2 роки тому

Not a doctor but have an old school virologist in my family (head of virology department).
      1) In theory - yes. But this virus comes from a lab, so it will continue mutating, "gaining" new features and reinfections are likely. WHO will do everything to force you, me and everyone else into getting a new "vaccine", I'm willing to bet money on that. Even though the 40 year old smallpox shot is still much safer and more effective. But you will hear them yell the opposite very soon. They MUST inject new "vaccines" into you, period.
      2) Yes, it does remain in your nerve cells forever.
But I'd much rather ask Why? Why are we having non-stop pandemics for over 2 years now? What is at play? Why would the global leaders want everyone vaccinated so badly that they cause business closures, depression, more suicides, etc.? Who gets to benefit? And why do highly vaccinated nations still show high infections, hospitalization and death rates? How do I know? Recently went from the US to one of the lowest vaxxed countries in Asia, where no restrictions ever happened and there's no covid. Yeah everyone got a sniffles at some point, but there was no uptick in deaths or massive hospitalization. And now the nation is well protected via natural immunity. See my point?

Exactly 😈, people are lacking common sense, education, and it would help if they took a course of microbiology, so they know this is not naturally possible. Not necessarily monkeypox(even though I know it’s lab made), but definitely covid can be confirmed to be lab made, it’s impossible and would take thousands of years for that “animal bat virus” to jump over to humans. This is BASIC MICROBIOLOGY. And yet the purple haired, pink haired, blue haired people eater Dems, lack basic education. They are bandwagoners. They will reap what there own ignorance has sowed.

I really want to know if it’s any way related to a case that happened 3 months ago, 100 monkeys were being transported for research, the truck crashed and 3 monkeys were able to escape
2 were found and the third was running rampant still but eventually caught. This was in Pennsylvania
The monkey pox first outbreak case recently was in Massachusetts
People are saying the disease will transfer through all the rats in these areas and New York and transfer to people. What a coincidence that these 2 places are next to each other

@@yahya4370 I lived with severe eczema from pretty much when I was born until roughly 15. I still had outbreaks on the arms and behind my knees in hot weather until roughly 18-19. I have technically 99% cured it. If you have eczema, as hard as this may be if you literally just don’t itch at all and keep the skin hydrated with hydrocortisone creams then it will go away. Eczema is “curable” I used to have it so bad I would bleed all over and literally my skin would stick to my clothes, it was absolutely awful. I had it all over my feet lower legs and arms severely. I’m 25 now and the only eczema I get at all is small red bumps only on my elbows if I pick at them. If I don’t pick at them then they go away or are barely noticeable. If you can stop itching and apply the creams daily I promise it will go away almost fully! It’s not easy but trust me if you really want your eczema gone then you will do it! Best of luck! @@qrsx66 Monkey pox is a rare disease and is difficult to spread. It is not a mass migration issue. We are still talking about a small number of cases and some of these cases have already been traced to travel to Africa. The current distribution cases is unusual and requires investigation but there have been clusters in the west before. We are only talking about it now because of the public hypersensitivity to any news story about viruses.

Unless, of course, that this particular strain of Monkey Pox was developed in a lab as part of those infamous "gain of function" research initiatives. In which case all bets are off.
To see the relative proliferation of this disease is a little concerning, to ay the least.

Travel. Just travel. And my idea is, like a virus does, it can sleep in the body and activate much later or during a specific trigger. Might be sexual activity . Kinda like herpes works
