I always tried everything before I gave it to my son and let me just say, Kelsey is NOT exaggerating when it comes to the meat in baby food. It is VILE. It all smells and tastes like dog/cat food 🤢
My puppy has a sensitive stomach and is on a strict diet. The vet said we can give him chicken baby food. He loves it. It smells gross and looks gross. I tasted it a bit once and it didn't taste like much to me. But the smell when we first open a jar is disgusting.
LOL I immediately thought the same thing. Truth be told, the thought of baby food makes me dry heave, even though I hear some are pretty tasty (there's no way I'd try anything but fruit... anything in the applesauce ballpark is fine, but peas and carrots all blended up 🤮)
I learned that a lot of baby food isn’t made for the taste, it’s made to expose them to as many different types of food as possible basically. Most parents don’t have the time to prepare meals like that, but if you are able to prepare diverse food that taste good for your baby it’s good for their development😎
i made all my babies first foods with the “baby bullet” blender! i just thought they’d be better fresh, without preservatives. id mix veggies or fruits with distilled water & mix that in with oatmeal cereal :) the blender comes with little cups so you can store a batch in the freezer

Fun fact cats can eat some baby food - when I first adopted my second cat she was semi feral and the shelter recommended I feed her a specific type of gerber chicken food 😂

My mom told me she used to set aside a small portion of what she was eating and cook it without seasoning then mash it up and give it to me as baby food. I think I’d end up doing that bc the some baby foods creep me out
Whenever I’m really anxious I can’t eat anything which makes me feel even worse, so baby food is the way to go on those days! Only the fruit flavors though. Great to keep in your purse too! !

For me and my siblings mom used to have a little baby food grinder and just ground up whatever we older kids were eating. Like noodles or macaroni broccoli etc that way she could skip preservatives etc…
These will end up being the babies favorites 😂 In middle school on a field trip my bff and i decided to "save money" on our overnight trip and not buy a bunch if food bc who needs it and we got a bunch of baby food and ate that. I gotta say we def had more spending money lol
LOL the pure banana 🍌 pouches, and the mango pouches, and the banana raspberry pouches were my issshhh.. when i was feeding my daughter it was one bite for you, one for mama 😂 and then we had a bunch left when she started eating solid food. I remember multiple times when she was FINALLY down to sleep and i didnt want to risk waking her up byvwalking up our creaky ass stairs, so i just sucked down a bunch of pouches LOL i survived off them. It was sad.

I knew that first jar a baby food‘s color looked familiar - I have a bowl of homemade pumpkin/carrot/sweet potato soup I made, only the other night, right in front of me, this very moment (I added blackstrap molasses, caramelized onions and dried apricots, as well as roasted pecans, and pumpkin spice. Then, topped it with ricotta, a rosemary/orange/cranberry sauce, pumpkin spice, and toasted pumpkin seeds and pecans).
I never bought the meat kind for my son. I just kept with basic fruits and veggies and then started to introduce textures when he was old enough so that he wouldn't get picky with that sort of stuff and only be used to mush.
Look up baby led weaning, means your baby isn’t having processed foods and can start feeding themselves. What most parents do is just give their baby a small portion of what they’re having (as long as it’s not a choking hazard) because it then also makes the baby feel more included as well as expanding their palate. Food will end up on the floor but it’s very beneficial for baby. (Also not shaming anyone who doesn’t do this, how you bring up your baby is 100% your choice and your will to do so, I just like to let parents know that there are more options than they might know. For example I didn’t know that you didn’t have to give your baby this food until my friend had a baby and told me about baby led weaning)
